Waters, Purcell and McCarthy to Waterford is the latest rumour round Limerick
Any Blahs care to comment??
We could do with another centre half, and maybe will have a more pressing need than that in the coming days, though the priority in defence must still be a left-back.
A left sided midfielder would also be handy, as the options at centre-mid might be even more limited soon too, and our new boy Foley might be earmarked for there.
The first two seem plausible, certainly.
Derek McCarthy I don't know about, but with 4 forwards in Vinnie Sullivan, Willie John Kiely, Karl Bermingham and David Grincell I would have thought that one less likely?
Am I right thinking Purcell did really well down there before??
At this level, Waters would easily do a job centre mid aswell.Quote:

I'd say he's yours if you want him :(
As would I. Ye had him down there before and he did naff all.Quote:

Yeah he did, and though I recall he was a bit short of pace it'd be great to have him back, and he'd doubtless go straight into the team. What I meant by 'we could do with another' is that we have three centre-halves in the squad in Kenny Browne, David Breen and John Hayes, but may yet lose one of those. Guess which one! :D
Same in the middle of the park where Mul is not yet decided what he wants to do, and so our left sided signing might end up (or always have been intended for) the middle.
Leon MacSweeny from Cork to Bohs - Mirror
Ya, I'd say that's likely especially as Bohs impression is got from the match we played against them.
He'll probably use the Bohs offer as leverage at least.
He's been offered one but turned it down. Our contracts are now going for lower basic wages(still higher that what hes on) and big performance bonuses to work around the wage cap.
The rumour is it potentially doubles his wages.
Negotiations ongoing.
Would like to see him stay as he is promising but not worth breaking the bank over. The game against ye was by far his best game. Has been excellent in 3 games and good in others.
Could see him being a very good player for us next season if he stays but if he goes I wont be gutted (once he's replaced of course).
I wouldnt be surprised if ye offered him more based solely on the semi performance given its Sean Connor :D
Performance related bonuses should be the norm in professional sport. Especially in the English Premier League.
I would be gutted if he left.
He wasn't expected to get in to the first team and could easily have been a fadeing mid-season signing that wasn't deemed worth hanging on to at seasons end.
Willie Bruton and Vinny Sullivan are prime examples and they (well the latter anyway) are established premier players.
Leon has developed with every game imo.
He's definitely more of a right winger (something we need) and has a good attitude owing to a spell messing around with no name teams whilst going to college etc.
He is among a group of players who've been offered standard renewals (e30 extra basic and considerably improved bonuses).
However, the others had existing properly negotiated CCFC deals. The likes of Softic, Kelly and Carroll were happy to retain a salary slightly improved in full-time ball.
McSweeneys initial contract was probably like a long-term paid trial to see if he was up to full-time professional standard.
Thus, offering the generic minor pay-rise is a bit lousy in his case.
He's right to want a further improvement and he could get it elsewhere.
I've seen Ciaran Kilduff quite a bit this past season and he's an absolute gem. If he produces for Kildare then expect an exciting season down Newbridge way.Quote:

The very same. Scored a shed-load of goals for our under 21s last season in futsal and football.Quote:
Is he the lad who has just been named in the irish futsal squad?
>Lads, any truth Alan Matthews is taking over at Shels with Keely moving upstairs to a "Director of Football 2 role ?
wouldnt be surprised, Squeeky is trying to sort out the long term future / stadium situation so has a lot on his plate.
bhs
Leon McSweeney to Bohs is looking like it's gonna happen.
Also Aaron Shanahan has signed for Dundalk so he shouldn't be there
heard Alan Murphy is looking at a season in either Athlone or Limerick, somewhere close to Galway where his job is based.
Ah but that assumes Nigel Keady is staying :)
Very interesting if true though, SLK will not be amused :p
Absolute top drawer signing if he comes and we could get him interested.
It's a big if though, he wasn't interested playing Premier for Galway so can't for the life of me see why he would give a toss with Limerick.
How concrete are these rumours though lads?? I mean, genuinely I'd be amazed if we were paying anyone over 200 quid next year.
It was in the Evening Herald last night that St Pat's and Bohs are set to talk again this week about John Paul Kelly going to Richmond. Deal fell apart last week apparently.
The same paper also said that Bohs are very close to signing McSweeny from Cork. Deal should be done in the next few days it said.
