Shouldn't it be merged into the already-existing Hoolahan thread?
The point is, A face attention seeking.
Doesn't have the same effect if you follow procedure and actually post a Hoolahan related topic in the Hoolahan thread.
The good thing for Trap is that as no one can understand him it is impossible to question his decisions (and get a comprehensible answer).
(He is actually fluent in English ;) )
Where is Keith Treacy these days? was very impressed with him in the friendlies
Shunted out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday, scored and set up a goal in the game that clinched promotion for them. He has all the talent to be a Premier League player but he seems to be a bit of a problem character.
I always thought of Treacy as being a bit head-down, drive along the touchline and whip in a good ball. He's strong and has a great delivery but maybe lacks a trick or two. Still that's what they say about McClean and Kevin Kilbane made a career out of it.
Kevin Kilbane and his bag of trick, as the old joke went.
Yes, we could be saying the same about james mcclean in 10 years praying he gets dropped from the left back position.
I think ultimately to play a 4-5-1 (and in turn drop Keane) we'd need more of a goal contribution from midfield. A good 4-5-1 system can be flexible to attack in a 4-3-3 shape. McGeady and Duff are far more the provider kind of wide player than a wing forward. If we had the likes of Robben with a serious goal threat we could look at it.
Hoolahan called into squad VS Serbia to replace Gibson: https://twitter.com/FAIreland/status...55594535575552

BREAKING NEWS: Wes Hoolahan has just been called up to replace injured Darron Gibson for next week's game against Serbia #COYBIG
Should keep a few quiet anyway.
An Achilles injury will prevent Hoolahan from joining up with the squad.
Interesting to see if he plays for Norwich next Saturday...
Started today for Norwich, looked quite good on TV played a neat through ball, he was playing up front
in a 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 where he was the first 1. They lost but it was close, Wes was one to 3 players
rated 7 (top rating for Norwich), aslo had a header blocked IIRC and he put in a good cross.
Singled out for praise by Louise Taylor in the Guardian's "10 Things" feature.
Very nice words indeed. Complimentary towards Chris Hughton also.

The good news is that, if Wes Hoolahan keeps playing like this, Hughton should eventually get the rewards his class and dignity demand.

Voted man of the match here by 78% however hardly surprising given how the question was asked.
Wes Hoolahan was Norwich’s creator-in-chief. No surprise in that for anyone who has sat back and admired the Irishman at work during City’s fall and then steep rise over the past three seasons.
But Hoolahan has had to bide his time in the Premier League this campaign. A 13-minute cameo at the end of a losing cause against Fulham is no platform to showcase his undoubted skills.
Chris Hughton’s faith was repaid with a bright first top flight start of the season against the Magpies. The attacking midfielder operated just off Steve Morison; freed from the defensive shackles and given the freedom to roam across Newcastle’s backline.
His first contribution was nearly his most telling. A glancing close range header five minutes in that brushed Steven Taylor. Then later in the half, he drifted wide to first trigger a counter and deliver a riposte when it momentarily faltered – picking out Robert Snodgrass who was only denied by Mike Williamson.
His superb pivot and pass in one motion after the interval should have earned him an assist to Andrew Surman’s leveller. Steve Harper’s smothering stop foiled the midfielder.
Hoolahan tried his luck again to pick out Javier Garrido who almost freed Snodgrass. Whenever Norwich threatened, Hoolahan’s influence was at the epicentre.
He has high successful pass rate, 86.7% last season and 90.9 this season.
Also got 4 goals and 7 assists last season (Same as Doyle).
Anyway our second highest rated player overall last year behind McClean, but of course that
doesn't guarantee you a place in the squad never mind the team, indeed more chance if you are
the second worst in the statistics. Traps works to an entirely different system.
Got a huge reception when brought on for Norwich. Very energetic, involved. Seems to be playing on the left of a central midfield three.
They were 3-0 down before Wes came on, and I think they scored another right after but the period he was on finished 2-2
so perhaps an improvement but not sure if Wes made a significant difference or not. I will keep an eye out for him on MOTD.
Seems to have been rated just slightly above average for Norwich.
Just caught a glimpse of his number on MOTD, that's about it.
Obviously his mere presence rattled Liverpool :p
Happen to be watching Norwich again this weekend and Hoolahan started. He's been great so far linking midfield and Holt and his beautiful cross to Barnett that set up their goal. He's just given the ball away but there's something about this guy and the way he plays that is a pleasure to watch. I absolutely detested him when he was with Shels and I realize now it's probably because he was so good...
And he's just put in another peach of a cross that Tete should have buried.
Directly at fault for Chelsea's 3rd. Muscled off the ball in the Chelsea half.
He was hardly the last man happened pretty deep in Chelsea's half.
Trap likes his players big and strong, that third Chelsea goal was a prime example of why he'll never get picked for Ireland. Great passer but a real weakling.
Big strong and as thick as two short planks with two left feet - first name on the team sheet.
If Trap makes it to Carrow Road, it won't be a wasted trip - Hoolahan and Pilkington start.
He's been absolutely brilliant today. Linking defense and attack and also retention of the ball has been outstanding.
Ball retention has been good alright but I don't think he is involved in everything. I was hoping he would be more involved.
Pilkington has looked decent too.
He has hit 2 or 3 bad passes to holt when he should have done better. Kinda annoying especially with Trap there.
He's just class. You're being hypercritical lads. Even the commentators are raving about him.
He is really putting in the tackles and dispossessing now. NO better time especially after what Trap says about him!
Only started watching at the second half, but he certainly seems to be getting on the ball plenty and using it well. Great touch, ball retention and been really busy and industrious.
He's been superb in all aspects. Brings great energy and vitality to Norwich's play. Much better player than Ramsey.
