They signed Stewart from liverpool permanently this week same age as Cannon missed over 12 months with an acl but always looked good underage for the pool as a 9
Cannon's attendance at Saturday's PNE friendly v Aberdeen was a giveaway. Between Cannon, Stewart, Will Keane and the other new signing, Mads Frøkjær, PNE seem sorted up front for 2023/24.Quote:

Does it put him too far down the pecking order for the English U21's though, which is the team that had contacted him and where there are some perspectives that they are light on strikers?
He'd get in the England u21 squad alright, so there does have to be a senior call up on the table. If Cannon was left out because he missed the training camp it was a bit of a stupid mistake by Kenny, Im convinced that caused Cannon to act like a child, so theres plenty of blame to go around. Thats why Im hoping that they have been in contact through the summer to sort it out.... I thought Everton might look at him this season though so maybe they dont rate him all that highly. Might be a little sign that hes not as good as all this hassle is worth!Quote:

Is there a process to switch countries that takes a bit of time? If he were to switch to England u21s wouldnt we hear about it well in advance while the paperwork goes in? Or could he just make the decision in September and go straight into their squad?
Could take around four weeks. Rice officially requested his switch in mid Feb 2019 and was lining out for England the following month. So would assume Cannon would likely have to have his request in within the next two weeks maybe.
For all we know it could already be gone in. There's no requirement to make these things public. For example we didn't hear about Charlie McCann's switch until it was all but done.

An unused sub for Everton v Fulham yesterday. Journalist Alan Nixon (The Sun) has now claimed that Leeds United could be preparing an £8m bid for him, but hedges his bets by speculating that Cannon could be allowed to leave Merseyside and join Preston on Wednesday (www.deepdaledigest.com).

Has apparently asked to leave Everton to pursue first team football (reliable Everton Twitter ITK) and Norwich rumoured to have made a £7m bid (less reliable source).
Seems a logical move with Sergeant looking at a few months on the sidelines. May well push Idah back onto the bench, but Norwich's lookout is themselves and re-stocking up front makes sense. Albeit a permanent move rather than a season-long loan is interesting.
Wonder why he is keen to move and Everton, goalless so far in the PL, would be willing to let go. Seems staying put is the better career choice (i.e. wanting to play at the highest level possible and to play for England ... :-))
You would think that Everton would be having a good look at him, in and around the Everton squad when you consider the dire straights Everton look to be in.
From the outside you would have to think that Everton don't think that Cannon is even a possible England level player ~ ~ That would be even more proven, if Everton sell Cannon even for the figure mentioned ~ Mind you Everton are in a mess, in every which way ~ so ~ Who knows ? ?
Everton have spent 45 million pounds on 2 strikers in the last 2 weeks,played a winger up front last weekend and didn’t have Cannon in the squad for most of the pre season ,fairly clear they don’t fancy him….
Maybe they don't rate him as highly as we think. Like Neal Maupay plays and he's been dog sh*t for Everton and they've just spent £15m on Chermiti, a 19yr old striker from Sporting.Quote:

You'd reckon that most of these Premiership clubs would know what they are doing, but Everton have been a bit of a basket case for years so you'd have some doubts about Everton's judgment on anything.

Well Crawford has said there's been no changes since June so there's been no movement from his camp or FA about getting his paperwork started regarding a switch yet.
No changes, then, since he said no to another call-up from Ireland.

Doubt Crawford tried calling him up but just said they were talking. This what he said when asked about Cannon.
"On the matter, Crawford commented: “I’ve been in touch with Tom (Cannon) and there’s no change. He has a lot going on at the minute with his club but he’s in the same place as the last window in June".
That's one hell of a dose of tonsillitis if he still has it now.
