Mourinho may be trying to see if Troy is smart enough to read between the lines ?

the lack of foresight he showed in publicising his friendship with Sean Little would worry you...
Saying that, there are plenty of footballers from Dublin who haven't received any criticism despite their friends and family getting involved in some bad stuff. Anto Stokes I think is the only person who received real stick for it
John Paul Kelly.
I don’t really wanna name names for obvious reasons but this link isn’t bad from that perspective. My point was really questioning if Troy was hard done by.

There’s another current irish international who’s best friend and brother were both arrested for something serious involving gangland when he was back in the country.
A recent enough key player’s two brothers were involved in some really dodgy stuff...
The kid who was photographed with Troy is also photographed with another irish international who hasn’t gotten the same criticism
A current regular was involved in an assault case in Dublin in the last few years...
Troy also paid tribute to this lad on Instagram after his death: https://www.thesun.ie/news/4136420/s...ng-kill-rival/
Troy was over to Spurs before he turned 16. Sources at Belvedere inform me that Spurs wanted him over early due to some of the company he was keeping.
Parrott is hardly the first player to be linked with undesirables or undesirable behaviour. The difference here is that he had only turned 18. He's one of our most highly touted and high profile teens in a long time. The microscope on him is, as a result, inevitable.
Perhaps a Ferguson Hawk figure is needed.
On the bench today. Might get a run out.
Gets about 35 seconds at the end. Wasting his time as long as Mourinho is there.
I'm actually encouraged by this - I wasn't expecting for him to play at all this season, the way Mourinho's been talking, so to see him even get some garbage minutes with ten games left to play is promising - hopefully he'll get some more significant time in the coming weeks and set himself up for next season.

"He is not ready. He is not ready," said the Portuguese.
"He is a good kid we want to help, not only on the pitch but off it. He is a kid who's going to have a real opportunity but when we decide it is right.
He's just referenced off the pitch again...
Good to see he hasn't held it against him too much at least, given his inclusion in the squad, and I agree with Sam, token minutes are more encouraging than no minutes. Ian Wright pleaded his case on motd2 last night also.
Could see gametime in the cup tie against Norwich on Wednesday, possibly lining up opposite Idah
I've a serous problem with who he is hanging out with etc
These people are a cancer on our society and he is in a yacht with them
If he doesn't cop on, you would have to be afraid that he will be another waste of talent
Not the kind of people anyone should be hanging out with !
Any football club needs this sort of an association, like a hole in the head.
Troy Parrot's family , friends and advisors need to cop themselves on if they think any football club wants this sort of association.
Not Irish, but a young Ravel Morrison? This from FourFourTwo...
United felt they’d ... supported him even after he was convicted of intimidating a witness to a knifepoint robbery, for which he’d escaped with a 12-month referral order and was instructed to cough up £2,000 in compensation. And they also backed him after he admitted criminal damage, having thrown his partner’s phone from her parents’ window. Morrison was referred to Salford’s youth offending team for domestic violence counselling, and then fined again.
Some of that was because of connections to gangs around Wythenshawe/Whalley Range which are ... well they're no Altrincham (I was born in Partington, just west of Wythenshawe, before we moved to Stretford). Clubs want players who can sell jerseys and memorabilia, do endorsements, act as ambassadors, not just play football. It doesn't matter if you mature and leave it all behind: nobody is going to waste tens of millions on a player who has a history, even as an underage player, unless they're the very definition of a flawed genius. And there's few enough of those at any one time. Troy, good though he is, isn't in that category.
He needs to be very careful who he hangs out with with. I'd say the same if he wasn't a footballer - the gangs in Dublin today are unadulterated filth.
I agree with everything said here so far. The only thing that i would add is that this boils down to choice. These players make these decisions. No one holds a gun to their heads on who they should be hanging around with. They need good guidance to make good decisions. I was fairly close with a couple of friends of Wes Hoolahan back in the early 00's. They mentioned how Wes rejected any of the temptations that arose living in the north Dublin inner city. Head down, focused on football, made smart decisions on who he hung out with. This was when living and playing for Shels and it taking longer than it should have to get his move abroad. But he got his move. I dont know who was advising him but he made the right decisions along the way.
Stokes did the opposite and has just gotten arrested off the airplane for an outstanding warrant.
Parrott needs someone in his corner now. As seanfhear says, this is not a good look, not a good association and you'd have to think it has the potential to turn his head away from his career. But its not too late.
It's quite unfair to insinuate Troy's mate is involved with gangland activity due to who his family members are. He hasn't been convicted of anything.
I'd be careful about what you say on this message board as it's not you who'll have to pay the bill if legal action is taken.
Im just happy he’s getting minutes of competitive action anywhere. Close range finish after 8 minutes for his first goal. Hopefully he will grab a couple more. Mourinho actually hadn’t seen him in competitive action so hopefully he can convince him to give him more game time. Probably means he won’t be involved on Wednesday unless he smashes in a couple more and mourinho asks for him to be subbed at half time!
Per report, Parrott played well, was mature and unselfish, bringing others into the game rather than shooting from all angles. Subbed at half time without any injury evident. Hopefully will make bench vs Norwich on Wednesday
Think that's Pochettino's son lining out in midfield, Maurizio (as opposed to Mauricio, the father)
(Edit - Pochettino with the assist too actually)
Poch’s son was the person who recommended him when he went on trial. Went straight to his father and said he’s a class above anyone I’ve played with etc etc
I might be the only one but I think Mourinho is a good manager for Troy at this time in his life.
Any word on how Bowden played, the captain and lad in the photo? He's one of the English born lads that appeared for our 19s a few months back.
Taken off at half time, may well indicate he will be involved on Wednesday in the cup
the privileged one...

"He will be on the bench tomorrow," the Spurs boss said of the Dubliner. "We cannot tell you obviously every detail but we're taking good care of a young player and also taking care of a young boy in society, in private life. That's a process.
Jees when i brought this up originally didnt think so much emphasis would be placed on it...clearly there is something they really do not like.
Yep, Mourinho is not the bad guy here. I too think he's a good manager for him at this stage. A big presence, loads of experience and respect earned. Won't be spooked into giving a youngster a game against his better judgement. I'd say Jose has seen plenty of talented kids from tough backgrounds and I'd trust his call on it before Internet fans convinced the lad should not sign contracts or bang down doors to get out on loan.
Hopefully Spurs have talented player liason /youth education /lifestyle coaches /whatever, to get Troy on the straight path needed to make it as a top level pro.
From The Guardian:
José Mourinho has told Troy Parrott to stop thinking he is “too good” to play for Tottenham’s Under-23s. The manager said he experienced a similar problem with Scott McTominay at Manchester United before he had words with the midfielder and has urged Parrott to show the right attitude to establish himself at Spurs.
Mourinho has been under pressure from supporters to use Parrott, who is the only fit striker in his squad, albeit one who has just turned 18 and has played for a total of 72 minutes. The manager joked that some of the fans who clamour for Parrott have never seen him play and do not even know whether he has blond or dark hair.
Parrott will be on the bench for the FA Cup fifth‑round home tie against Norwich on Wednesday but the discussion around the Republic of Ireland forward concerned the need for him “to have his feet on the ground”.
Mourinho talked about McTominay, whom he brought through at United. He said the player struggled initially to behave properly when he had to return to the youth teams, having tasted life in the senior squad, and his career took off only when he was reminded of a few home truths.
Mourinho sees the parallels with Parrott, who has trained all season with the first team but has appeared in seven under-age matches, scoring 11 goals. He played the first 45 minutes of the under-23 win against Wolves on Monday, scoring once.
“I was so happy with the way he performed and I’m not speaking about his goal. I told him before the game: ‘Every time you play with the kids of your age, you have to show your colleagues why you are the privileged one.’ Because it was something he was not doing. Every time he was playing with the kids, he was playing with the mentality of, ‘I shouldn’t be here’ or, ‘I am too good to be here.’
“I had exactly the same words with Scott McTominay. He was not loved in his age group because he was not there with the right frame of mind. The moment we started changing that lots of things started changing for him.
“Troy cannot go there [the under‑age teams] with discontent, contempt. It is a process. So everything goes very, very well. But this is a world where lots of people don’t even know if Troy has long hair or short hair, or is blond or is dark. They don’t even know that and they speak about Troy, Troy, Troy. There was a guy behind me on the bench the other day: ‘Play Troy, play

It doesn't fully stack up though, seeing as he got game time at the weekend and more than likely will again tonight. He was getting less game time prior to Dubai! There's obviously a concern there, Mourinho has basically confirmed that anyway. TSF has just been made aware of something the rest of us knew anyway I think.
I'd be concerned if I was involved in Spurs' management that he was hanging out with extremely dangerous criminals. Not fully focussed on his football. I imagine they've had a chat with him about it. The photos may be old so hopefully he's fully focussed now. He's still a kid.
But everyone wants to be a gangster now, cruising around on speedboats, drinking Moet in opened short-sleeved shirts with the ink on show. The McGregor syndrome.
Parrott came on in extra time against Norwich, missed a penalty in the shootout which Spurs lost.
