Hardly be matches on the weekend
NCW Rovers voted in favor of merging with NCW AFC at a meeting last night.
NCW Town from next season on
So Rovers in the Premier and Afc more than likely getting promoted. Will they have a strong team next season? Will Seoirse Joyce and Tony Quaid go back to them from ballingarry next season? What does that mean with who goes down and comes up?
I suppose like every season fanatic the league committee will decide the divisions when they see what teams are entered at the beginning of the season. There was a lot of speculation Killeaney wouldn't have a team this year so it could be another team next year. As regards the 2 boys I suppose it will be up to whoever is in charge if they'd want them back, they didn't show much loyalty this season
I would be willing to say it's unlikely that they would be welcomed, especially Joyce, Rovers very upset with him.
Tony maybe
Why would Rovers be upset with Joyce? Did he do something? They prob won't go back now cos they will be looking for money from clubs now they are getting cash with ballingarry.
Let's just say that when he needed help in the past, the club were there for him.

People are acting like Ballingarry are the first team around here to pay players.
Are they paying more than others? Probably, but don't think for a second that they're the only team doing so.
Yeah true have heard of players and clubs numerous times over the past couple of years getting a bit of coin. I’m sure Cruyffs comment above has something to do with rovers helping him out with cash over the years, maybe you could fill everyone in Fanaticfan seeing as you seem to know who’s getting paid what as you have mentioned it several times already in this forum this year?
Also an i right in saying that Abbey have played 7 of their 9 league games at home already. A good start is everything and they certainly have the best chance of a good start with that fixture list.
Heard the amalgamation was passed alright - no more Newcastle West derbies...
Could possibly be 3 Newcastle West Town junior teams next season with their numbers!!
Re: payment to players don't see the need for it personally, if anything would it not undermine the current players at any club?
Surprise but well deserved wins for Carrig Celtic (v Broadford) & AK (v Ballingarry) in the Desmond Cup, wheels seem to be coming loose on the Ballingarry season; losing to 10 man Broadford in the league and knocked out of the Desmond Cup.
Abbeyfeale looking good at the top of the premier too; looks a case of by how much & not if they win the league.
On the note of the wheels coming loose in Ballingarry, the same can be said for Broadford at this stage.
Out of the league, knocked out of the Munster Junior at home to a side that are no great shakes and going out of the competition that they're reigning champions of with a whimper.
They'll have a job on their hands if they're to win the League Cup having drawn Rathkeale away in the Quarter Final.
Is that draw available on line shearer ?
Not yet I don't think, I just happened to have a photo from the Observer at the back of my phone.

Thanks. I must of missed it looks like it was drawn a few weeks ago
Are there going to be a lot of doubling up of games when the clocks go forward or how are the Desmond League going to tackle the problem with the weather that's been going on for the last few months (earlyish December?) ? Don't think I've ever seen the weather affect a season so badly in the Desmond League.
I think Friday games are coming back soon.
Desmond Cup Quarter Finals Draw
Rathkeale AFC V Carrig Celtic
Killeaney or Feenagh V Creeves Celtic or Abbeyfeale Utd
Newcastle West Rovers v Glin Rovers
AK Utd V Newcastle West Rovers B
I don't know about that but i'd say they're hoping that something along those lines could happen - huge numbers underage at the moment by all accounts so possibly in a few years time you wouldn't know... but it'll be a LONG way away yet if anything like that were to happen!
Athea United giving a walkover to Carrig Celtic in the League Cup is a disgrace.
Ballingarry's season is all over already sadly.
Meanwhile in Woodfield....
I'm curious why you have have the odd dig at Rovers Shearer, considering your an Itas man and they've let ye use there pitch a couple of times this season
I don't recall a previous dig at Newcastle West Rovers to be honest. I've dozens of articles from last season where I've both praised and criticised them, just pointing out what I see at present. They got 10 points from their first five games and have fallen off the mark a lot since then, culminating in a 5-0 loss to Rathkeale.
I don't show any allegiance on here, I just call it how I see it.
I think it's good to have a bit of 'banter' on this instead of the usual stuff!!
&
In fairness to Shearer he did a great job last season with his reports and predictions; bar The Weekly Observer & the facebook page the league isn't overly visible in social media.

He's right too; Rovers seem to be having a case of the 'Ballingarrys' or vice versa!!
Abbey are the team to stop on all domestic fronts this season... there could be treble ahead?!

Shearer’s Hot Takes from this weekend:
A handy Hogan Cup for Pallaskenry it would seem. Ferry will be lost in a pitch the size of Clounreask.
Nothing seems to phase Abbeyfeale United. Mowing through everyone, much like Newcastle West AFC.
Rathkeale closing the curtains on Broadford’s season with a 2-0 League Cup win.
Damn Glin Rovers, back at it again with the three points. Another W for them, they're cracking season rolls on.
No games fixed for Friday week either which seems strange given the backlog of fixtures.
Football championship on this weekend and following weekend I think , will affect clubs to varying degrees especially what day games are on . It even varies year on year depending on what set up football clubs have , The likes of Shannonside , Athea, Bally rovers , Ballysteen amongst the more impacted this year .
Shouldn't overly bother top clubs in premier
Oh so there's no games because of the football. Don't think the football would do that because soccer would be on.

Big weekend ahead for ballingarry, I see they are playing ratkeale(who i think will win league)on Sunday and if they beat them they have a right chance of competing right down to final wk and could go on to win it..also if broadford was to pick up full points against teams above them they would be right back in too...could be v interesting few wks ahead..
Big weekend for Ballingarry yes but even bigger for Rathkeale (who I also think will win the league). Rathkeale vs Broadford Friday evening and Ballingarry vs Rathkeale Sunday. Two huge games for them in less than 48 hours.
Broadford still in with a chance too for the title but have to win tomorrow evening.
This weekend will define who Abbeys challengers for the title is!
Shannonside picked up an important point against Glin the weekend. They have fit footballers for the rest of the season now with the football on its break.
Yes I agree it's big wknd for ratkeale but if dey were to get 4 points out of the wknd I think it would be great result and still have enough to win it but if either bgarry or broadford were to drop point against them I'd feel that there chance was gone..only my opinion but who knows in football...
