what sort of standard are wilderness at this year?
average team. they have a top class striker though and are decent enough going forward. there tough to beat on there own pitch but not great playing away from home
Delaney cup draw
Clonmel Celtic (TSDL) v Nenagh FC (NTDL)
Blackcastle United (NTDL) v Cashel Town (TSDL)
St. Michael’s FC (TSDL) v Cloughjordan FC (NTDL)
Nenagh Celtic (NTDL) v Wilderness Rovers (TSDL
ill go for four home wins in this. clonmel celtic will be up against it versus nenagh but if all there new signings are playing can see them nicking it by the odd goal. Saint michaels should be too strong for cloughjordan. nenagh celtic meant to have lossed a few should still have enough to beat wilderness. any other pre season games happening this weekend. Cahir vs Peamont Utd saturday. havent heard much else.
Transfer news gone very quiet too. celtic and town seem to be only ones getting players in. town have so far confirmed Jimmy Hynes, Martin Tynan, Frantisek Holecko, Danny Ryan, Eoin Walsh, Ronan Stanley and jj butler. celtic have kevin waters, stephen ryan, evan maguire, smurf byrnes and ian mccollum. borris have michael rafter.
saints, peake , cahir, wilderness and cashel have surely got a few in ?
heard town were beaten by tramore 4-1 in a friendly last night in the complex, any match report? bit of a shock i would think!
Gosh, 2 sent off early, who were they? Who was the ref? Are any of the new players mentioned above from Clonmel Town? I know 2 are from Nenagh and Butler from Carrick. Add these to the three from Thurles, one from Kilkenny, one from Cashel, the foreign lad Holecko, Town have a well spread out team. Are all Clonmel Celtic players local? Balls is right - things very quiet from other clubs. Heard St.Michaels had just one light training session so far. Think they are playing Fairview Rangers some night next week.
As a fella put it to me there a few weeks ago when all the talk was going on about players signing from Clonmel Celtic to Clonmel Town, they always sign the cast off players from Clonmel Town, i want to re-itterate that this is not my opinion but want to get the forums feedback, can we get a list of players who left in recent years to prove the fact wrong? Maybe the quality of player to win Munsters and FAI's are not there in Clonmel and have to be sourced elsewhere
Have to agree the quality of player aint there in the Town anymore people say that the likes of smurf and stephen ryan are serious signings for celtic but these 2 lads couldnt make the Town team last year hence the reason why they left at the end of the day the league will be decided between Town and Michaels again and both will go further in fai and munster than Celtic...i heard about the squad Celtic are supposed to have lets see them trying to keep all these lads happy.Celtic are a decent team and thats as far as it goes.
What did the 2 boys do to get sent off so early, it must have been bad? or else the ref is just a pure eejit. For pre-season, there is no point in a match like that for either team.
chops what happened with the sendings off? who was reffin?
Dave Dineen Tournament Final. St. Nicholas 5 Tipp Town FC 2.
I'm the same about the town / tramore game ? It must have been fairly serious if a ref is sending 2 guys off in a pre season game cause we all know ref are fairly lenient and give lads chances in friendlies as they know whatever cards they dish out can be brought through to regular season , any thought guys anyone at game who was ref .
On another note I agree with some of the lads on the forum what were peake doing taking on pike crazy stuff as I believe peake are struggling big time to bring players in and this result won't help
As for saints I believe they have 2/3 players lined up but I dont they are worrying this week as they are all in Clare at chalky s stag so I would imagine they will have a couple of heavy training session s next week ha ha
Celtic have made 2 outstanding signings in Evan Maguire and Kevin Waters, how anyone can say different to that is beyond me. Stephen Ryan and Darren Burns are two good squad signings. added to the current players that makes them a very solid team.
chops i think you are being very disrespectful towards celtic with your previous post, and also saying the quality of player is not in clonmel is a ridiculous statement. the fact of the matter is the tide has turned in clonmel with all the best players in the town now signing for celtic before town. with that squad celtic have assembled they will be serious contenders for the league 'i would even say favourites' and it will also take a very good team to beat them in munster and fai.
ah you couldnt class celtic as favourates for league republican they have a good bit to prove yet. there playing pike this week in a friendly, that should be a good indicator of how there shaping up.
yeah balls prob a bit much to say favourites alryt, but im just thinking with town having a virtually whole new team according to reports it will take a while 'and prob some dropped points' before they settle i just think celtic could go very close this year. yeah the pike game will be a good indicator alright but pike's team is also much changed from last year im told alot of their team are gone to play l'o'i.
I agree you can't make Celtic favourites for league for me town and saints are, you have to remember saints got to the 2 big finals and town won league I saw Celtic in tipp cup final I was very dissappointed in them got well beaten ur rite they have 2 excellent signing in Kevin and Evan and I am a big admirer of smurf ( the last 2 are a big loss to town ) as for the balance of power shifted in clonmel I think you might have to wait 2/3 years from now to make that call but they are goin in right direction , I actually think it might be a bigger season on town lots of movement in / out of players time will tell if they have improved on the players they lost does anyone know anything about players town bringing in ? Apart from stan and jj butler
jimmy hynes is a striker has scored alot of goals for nenagh celtic in mjc and fai games against south tipp during the years dont know much else about him. but if he is a good finisher he will do well at town cause he will have plenty of chances. dont know anything bout other nenagh lad but he cant be bad doubt town would entertain a lad travelling over from nenagh if he wasnt half decent. Martyn tynan would be a fairly prolific goalscorer too if its the ex kilkenny city and waterford crystal striker they have signed. dont know anything bout foreign lad or eoin walsh . i wouldnt subscribe to the it will take time for these players to settle theory. they will be going into a side with tony scully, ray condon etc all good players with experience and as long as they dont face town or celtic opening day should get a win to kick start season and will roll on from there
Were those players allowed play for Town today in Waterford or do suspensions not kick in until the league? Any result from the game nononsense?
One was a definate sending off and the other should not have been even tramore manager Alan Reynolds pleaded with the ref at halftime to let Town go back to 11 players as he felt the ref had got things wrong he was not impressed with Mckell one bit,Town beat Piltown 5-1 on sunday a very good performance.
The suggestion that Celtic only sign Town 'cast offs' is both misleading and incorrect. You should ask your friend is he aware that quite a number of Celtic players were approached by Town during the summer (something they are entitled to do) thus dispensing with the notion that the best players in Clonmel sign for Town. That may have been the case a few years ago but not anymore. In fact I would say at least a half a dozen of the current Celtic squad would comfortably make Town's first 16 if not starting 11. If Celtic can remain injury and GAA (:)) free they will go very close this season.
Now that your friend mentioned 'cast offs' you should also ask him where Town got Frank Holeko????
Now that your friend mentioned 'cast offs' you should also ask him where Town got Frank Holeko????[/QUOTE]
is this the winger come striker who played with celtic for abit last season. cant see him having much of an impact at town if it is. Saints drew tonight with regional from limerick 2-2. not sure who scored or if they have any new players in. have heard tony egan from bansha and declen peters from glen villa are signing but havent heard anything else
The match report on the st michaels website says that Pa Quinn and Michael Maguire scored. Tony Egan and Declan Peters played the first half. The rest of the team that played alot were B team players from last year. Tony Egan might be a good signing for them. Not sure about his temperament but he can be good on his day.
that foreign lad signed of his own accord and was not headhunted so you can count him out, over the years the only lads who signed from clonmel town to clonmel celtic which town would have liked to keep were maybe simon scully and evan maguire, the rest either could not get their place for some reason or another
If you contend that of the current Celtic squad only Maguire and Scully would interest Town you obviously don't share the views of Town's management. Ask the Town manager (or that Town buddy of your who raised the matter in the first place) would he like Graham Doyle, Paul Shanahan and Kevin Waters playing with Town next year and I'm sure I know what the answer would be.
I never suggested that foreign guy was headhunted. As you mention players move on when they can't get regular football which may explain his move to Town.
Peake Villa play Evergreen of Kilkenny Thursday night,3 or 4 new signings hopefully be involved
waters and doyle would walk onto any junior team in the country two outstanding players. roberto do you know when d celtic v pike friendly is on? a mouth watering friendly ( if there is such a thing ) :)
Pike 5 Celtic 0,
roberto i was talking about Town players who have left the club to join Celtic, only Maguire and Scully are the ones they wished had not got away, graham doyle is a class player, no wonder town wanted to sign him for back, as for waters that goes without saying. that was some beating ye got off pike, was that played in limerick? still a bit way off that level so, was waters playing?
I think we had our wires crossed. The point I was trying to make was that a few years ago Town naturally attracted the best players in Clonmel but the soccer scene here has changed in that Celtic are now providing strong opposition to Town when it comes to recruiting players at all age groups.
Yeah, that game was played in Limerick and Kevin Waters did play. I wasn't at it but I know they were 4 down at half time. You could be right in that they are a bit 'off that level' but I still think they have assembed a decent squad. That result might actually prove a blessing in disguise.
It was on in limerick and waters was playing,it could have been more, pike missed peno and numorous other chances,if that's their squad they won't cause town or St micks too much bother,IMO

We need to have a team by 7p.m this evening lads so don't hang around.
Cheers.
That was a fair hiding for Celtic but I wouldn't read to much into pre season friendlies as teams are not at full strength and lots of subs used etc
On another note just heard rock rovers are looking to get back into 1st division did anyone hear this , I would have thought they would have to re enter in the bottom division
