Cas, I understand your point and maybe your "spare" fixture should have been that weekend, especially with notice. However, I dont think we can say anything about any fixtures this year. He has other roles as well.
Without this Fixtures Sec, we have no-one. Thats not sensationalism - its a statement of fact. A few people, AUL committee members & non committee members, turned down the role. Its more a time consuming role rather than a difficult role I think but I honestly dont know. For the future, is it possible to share the role? Could a Prem A sec like me be Fix Sec for a different division? What other ideas have we got?
Black and Red, I still believe the league should look into buying its own ground. Land is cheaper now, good construction pricing should be available. Look at the number of teams hiring grounds like Pfizers, CIT etc. It would give teams who are promoted a ground to use and the money is in the league.
A team who is refused promotion for facilities could crash and burn - players would walk you would believe. The guys behind the scenes could be working as hard as possible and it may not be enough. What reward is that for them for their volunteerism?
We went a run of about 10 cups over a few years where we got byes....................in the last few years we seem to be one of the first out of every hat!!! Wilton, Greenwood and maybe Kinsale. After that maybe Kilumney........who's next - Barcelona???? and the funniest thing is.....it may not be the worst section of the draw - Cas!!!!
Unbeaten Ard Na Laoi away, Ballyvolane at home (where is owl gone?) and then Wilton at home. 3 tough games - 3 good games - 3 wins would be lovely!
Pearse Celtic 7 - 1 Bweeng great result and performance in very bad conditions pitch was poor but i thought we coped well.Nice to get our first compeitive win of the season and hope to get our second away to castleview next week in the league.
Any resul from Gratts/Leeside game?
Grattan 2-3 Leeside
I think these two teams had two nil all draws last year and on opening day I was expecting the same thing. Decent crowd up in O'Neil park to see a decent enough game.
Grattan went one up scoring direct from a very soft free kick. Leeside equalised shortly after. Grattan went 2-1 up scoring after Leeside struggled with another set piece.
Leeside equalized with a penalty with about 15 to go and scored a soft winner with 5 to go.
Not sure what to make with both teams. Grattan looked string in midfield and look to have more up front this year. However they struggled at the back today. Apart from set pieces Leeside looked strong at the back again however didnt look as strong as last year. Maybe they were down a few.
was their myself taught it was very scrapy game leeside keeper was very poor...left with ten minutes in to the 2nd half did it improve much?
to be honest with what i saw id fancy taking point off both teams but then again tough pitch to play on id say.not looking forward to going up their very windy and the hill.we see what happens...
Never easy up in O'Neill park Holden, any win there is a good win.Could be a close league this year with quite a few surprises along the way.
AND yes olachico he did play today and scored twice GARRY NOLAN,matin cronin 1 and sub john magnier 2 .3 of regular back four missing and had too work hard.went two up before half time, went to sleep in second half and conceded 2 soft goals, into extra time and got two in first period and one in second.
AOH Cup - De Courcey Albion 1-2 Bohs
Should have won this, threw it away in the end. We played pretty well in fairness & scored a well worked goal. Bohs piled the pressure on alright & scored a well finished equaliser.. The game turned when 2 of their players had to go off with injuries leaving 9 on 11, we piled the pressure on and got caught napping at the back when they scored the winner. The ref was useless, seemed to be intimidated by them & gave them anything they shouted for. All his decisions were about 5 seconds delayed till he heard them shouting... We had a clear penalty turned down which was right in front of him at the end. He started the 2nd half at 11.45 on the dot & with the 2 lads injuries that took 10 minutes or more to sort out, he blew the whistle on 12.28... ??? 33/34 minute half?? We questioned him but he just kept walking, pure disgrace... But no sour grapes to the Bohs lads, we should have finished them off when we had the chance and wont take away their win from them... All in all a good result on paper for a div 3 side against a prem a side..
Glad to get out of this one alive and into the next round. We thought they would be a decent side and they were. The game started fairly evenly, and they went in front from a sloppy piece of play on our side. We were in the ascendency from the moment we equalised 10 minutes or so later, when their keeper left a soft one in. We had a half dozen really good chances, and took two of them to lead 3-1 at the break. We could have scored more, before they made it interesting by scoring on 75. We sealed it with a neat finish five minutes later.
As our friend from Kilowen said last week, they were lethal on the break. Nice pitch, nice set up. Ref was very good - didnt have much to do or say, but did what he had to do well with a smile on his face.
Sunday mornings would never be our strenght, but all 20 were accounted for. Our managers have the horrible job all managers want with 15 or so deserving a first 11 start.
One cup game down, two to go.
Greenwood 4 - 1 Kilumney
Very hard fought win. One up after 40 mins. Kilumney got it back to 2-1 mid second half. No doubt Kilumney will be up there challenging at the top.
Much better start for us this season, considering we lost our first 4 last year.
Dont worry horse, im still here, just reading with interest at the mo.
wilton,b,1 macroom 2
went down one nill after 15minutes gave away a stupid peno.after that totally dominated the game just couldnt find the net until 15 minutes left in the 2nd half with a cracker..to be fair towilton they defended brilliant untill with 5mins to good when a shoot from my brother was saved from the keeper just a tap in needed...
shocking display by our selfs others might disagree...off next weekend....
How about this local derby- Killowen v Donoughmore Athletic.
It's our first time in ages that we have entered the MJC and at least we have home advantage against our neighbours Donoughmore. We have met a few times in recent years and games are usually tight between us. Looking forward to it.
Well lads bad weekend for both grattan team first up was the A team defeated 3-2 to leeside in league atcion grattan goals from Trevor hallissey and johnny walsh,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,`Up steped the killer B`s with mighty task in taking on park utd A in the AOH Cup first round Beating by a more organised and disciplined team simole as that score for this game 7-1 grattan goal scorer Donal lyons
Next up for Grattan A.f.c Grattan Utd A v Bohemians, O Neill Pk,
GOOD LUCK TO THE CORK TEAM FROMM ALL THE GRATTAN LADS BRING SAM HOME !!!!
are you for real holden, macroom to take points away from home against leeside or grattan i dont think so,results for yee so far this year wouldnt inspire much confidence ,a struggle away to wilton b isnt going to do it.these are seasoned premier teams and dont loose very often at home ,leeside especially.
can u not read????where does it say on my post that we would take points away from home??????i said id fancy taking points off them never said away...
Anyone at the kinsale game Sunday? What was it like?
im always confident...i suppose only time will tell as long as we stay in the league it wont bother me where the points come from...
What price a Blackstone/Cork/Liverpool treble?
Looking forward to the game V Ballyvolane - two crackers last year. We should have won up there and they probably should have won out in our place. 2 draws were the results.
Both teams seem to have improved since then, and there are one or two friends crossing swords!!
The FAI Junior Cup has never really been good to us, and we still await our away trip to Donegal!
very long odds id say horse cork the only one up there id say.,.
HORSE i saw a game between ballyvolane and leeds a few weeks ago and they were excellent ,garry nolan is a major signing for them think yee will have yere work cut out to beat them,.saw yee last season and would describe yee as dogged,,think they might have more match winners in their side.

Bieber, dogged isnt a bad word. Maybe we are a bit more than that but I get your point. Our workrate is one of our strenghts definetly, but our front 5 especially are playig some great stuff at the moment.I dont think either team is silly enough to underestimate the other after the two games last year. The one up there was ferocious - great fun!

Gratton 1-2 Bohs
What can i say about this only that the score dose nt come near to what it really could of been, the game could of easily finished 5 -1 to us we tore them apart today and from what i could see they were missin maybe 1 player. There keeper Lofty had a stormer and made 4 great saves
Gratts started the better but we came into more and hit the crossbar and had a great shot saved but got the opener after about 25 mins from our striker Deccie Gostal (former gratts player).Stayed 1-0 until half time
Started slow again but came into more and scored again from deccie to make it 2 nil after about 60 mins.there keeper again made a few good saves and we looked comfortable until the last 2 mins when we conceded a soft consilation goal but held out for a great win.Into the quarter finals now.......
Oh ya all the predictions above WRONG...... away win to the BOHS!!!
Great win scaffa!!we got beat 5-2 today,im feeling abit better!
We got beat 1-0 against gratten and we should have won that won aswel!
I honestly think they will stuggle this year!
On our game, greenwood totally deserved there victory!!2-2 and we had man sent off, went downhill after that!
Infairness casilles predited ye won win,and after playing both teams i fancied ye today!
But saying that they were already top of group so it be hard for them to get up for the game!
Pearse C 4 - 1 Casteview great result for us against a young castleview side who were very sticky but I thought it was well deserved in fairness sets us up well for the local derby next week against greenwood :).Should be a cracker !!
Blackstone 1 v 5 Ballyvolane
I didn't make the game. One down in 30 seconds. Man down in twenty mins. Two one at the break. Never got going. Not allowed to get going. John c and paddy in middle for Bally were excellent. Well deserved win. Shetland, I offer one piece of advice. Mutual respect between the sides may be affected by things like accusing us of being a one man team and laughing at our players in the second half today. Don't burn your bridges on the way up, you need them on the way down!
Good win Scaffa was surprised by how well ye guys played if im bein honest very positive play from the start and well tuned in to the job in hand!! as for Grattan ive been to alot of there games over the years and never seen them play so bad!! defensively they where all over the shop and attacking they where twice as bad!! then again lets call a spade a spade i think it was just one of those days where the hungrier team that needed the points wanted it more.
Horse i heard alot about Ballyvolane over the last few weeks about them and how good they were going forward and hitting a well organised team like ye for 5 comfirms it but how good are they overall?? are they good at the back??
what the hell are you on about horse never laughed at yere players or never would where is this comeing from, never ever said yee were one man team ,jason forde ,skilly and beven are top players in my eyes and thats 3 players ,.you werent there and apart from bad chalenge for the sending off it was a good game ,garry nolan was a handful and scored one and made two ,who ever said yere players were laughed at is very very wrong and i resent that, there is always friendly banter between us and yee with john c and skilly great buddies and long may it continue.
scaffa its ballyvolane away for yee next in the quarter finals of mossy linane
was at lee road to see wilton and blarney street, wilton were excellent with pakie o connor a major handful ,was dissapointed with blarney street they lack a bit of fire power, wilton fully deserved their win.
