Watched that for the second time a couple of months back & made a lot more sense in a good way. I am sure some people walked out of cinema watching it. Apparently Kauffmans brother won a Golden Globe for that when he only exists in the film :p

Rashomon
Quite good , obviously brilliantly shot , Didn't make much of the acting , But I think it was Kurosowa's intention for it to be melodramati
I watched Brendan and Trudy for the first time, hilarious, top marks for real comedy.
I don't know how much of it would translate outside of Ireland. I can't imagine much sense being made of the ballad trio in the corner of the pub when Brendan first met Trudy, singing some poetic song called Flow River Flow.
'I loved your gentle waters so much I'd have a wánk,
But now you've gone and bust your bank'
'so flow river flow, fxck off to the sea
go to where you're wanted, to the deserts of Gobee'
i watched The Wrestler; I'd rate it 10 for 10 for entertainment. Plus, hearing the crowd chant USE! HIS ! LEG! over and over was just plain hilarious. It was a pretty cool flick overall.
Cass story about Cass Pennent west ham hooligan in the 80’s very enjoyable.
Pride and Glory Colin farrel and Edward Norton good enough show worth a watch typical crooked cop/good cop.
Body of Lies enjoyed this Di carprio and Crowe and lots of shooting
Gran turino one of the best film ive seen this year….or ever really enjoyable. Crazy old ******* !!!
Saw the oldie I.D last night. Undercover cops take in football lifestyle to infiltrate hooligan gang, end up loving it too much..............
Enjoyed it a lot, and the acting was good - we had Billy from eastenders and the lead actor was Joe from Corrie - but good all the same
much better than that rubbish Green Street, or the other one!
Great film, still the best of those ones.
Rhys (or Reece?) Dinsdale is the lad in Corrie now, was also for years in Home To Roost with Inspector Morse. :D
He's Jst Not That Into You! - Jasus its awful.
Definetly the best holligan film. I remember channel surfing about 10 years ago and seeing the start of it at first I thought it was an episode of the bill but there was f*ck all else on so I decided to watch it turned out to be a very good decission.
But back to the topic just watched Twenty four seven another brilliant film by Shane Meadows.
Seen I.D. in the cinema. Thought it just a standand British film.
I would never dream of recommending a hooligan film, but if I did then
Proc a Czechoslovakian film is the only one that fits my experience of hooligans "I wasn't the only one" "I didn't mean it" " nobody told us not to".
Sparta of Prague fans return, on a train, from Ostrava after a game versus Banik.
watched elite squad tonight brazilian film from the guys behind city of god its brilliant its about an elite squad of cops and general corupt cops scumbag dealers in the slums antics
Saw Benjamin Button the other night. Thought it was fairly over-rated.
About two hours of very slow-moving stuff then when it finally got interesting (SPOILER: when the kid gets dementia and starts regressing really quickly), the film speeds up and is over in a flash.
Clone wars the movie : got this as part of a 3 for 2 blue ray pack and i really enjoyed it, Stunning on the big screen.
Blue ray makes everything better though i would recomend it to everyone to upgrade.
Seriously?? Apart from the battle on the side of a mountain (which was excellently done, forgetful robots excepted), I thought it was everything that has become wrong about the Star Wars universe. I've enjoyed some of the episodes of the TV series though. Mainly the ones without Ahsuka
i actually fainted in the cinema during the SPOILER WARNING!!
leg wound scene where they're trying to clamp his artery without anaesthetic. good lord, awful. i love horror movies but not when they border on the medically accurate. i mean a lucio fulci zombie splinter-to-the-eye doesn't bother me much but this type of realism does my head in, quite literally.
Think i was expecting to be dissapointed, it has sat on my shelf for so long because i wasnt sure about it but i sat down watched that but also i was playing dawn of war 2 on the laptop so i didnt really notice any boring bits.
Watched Rambo 1 & 2 last night on blue ray and enjoyed them both.
Rented a movie that came out last year called Quarantine, I thought it was pretty awful. It had that annoying Cloverfield/Blair witch hand held camera approach, plus the lead actress was the annoying sister from Dexter. I liked the ending though.
Despite the fact that I had didn't think it would be that good (I'd read a few less than glowing reviews) and the fact that it was nearly 3 hours long, saw Benjamin Button earlier this week and thought it was absolutely wonderful. The fact that it's 3 hours long just isn't an issue when you succumb to the film's charms and just allow yourself to go with the story. Great performances all round and the CGI is obviously amazing as others have said but it was the themes about death and growing old and about memories and change that made it a great film rather than a decent fantasy. Really enjoyed it and definately the best film I've seen this year.
saw gran torino. very good. some parts were funny which i wasnt expecting.
Tropic of Thunder - quite liked it, quite a few laugh out loud scenes
Just watched Gran Torino, couldnt recomend it enough. Brilliant movie
Just finished watching The Matador with P Brosnan about a hitman who has a bit of a crisis > Enjoyed it a lot, even if it felt a little short, good acting, good story, worth a look and was suprised to see that it only made a few million in the box office
Watched Savior (starring Dennis Quaid) last night. Pretty decent.
Saw the wrestler last week, great film, you have to feel sorry for Rourke's character.
Hallam Foe - British film about teenage voyeur. Probably the best voyeur film. Very good performance by Jamie Bell.
Motorcycle Diaries - also a good show even if it ends abruptly.
Clerks II
supremely good movie, better than the first in my opinion. Had me in stitches from beginning to end.
4/5
Good Night and Good Luck: decent and fairly interesting historical drama, but just seemed to be missing something to me. Found it a bit dry and surprisingly short at just under 1hr 30. 3/5
Borat: One of those 'I can't believe you haven't seen it before!" films. Finally got around to sseing it the other night and thought it was excellent. Had me in stitches quite often, only wish I'd seen it sooner. Some of it made me think that it was a little unfair as if you recorded for long enough and with enough people, you'd be bound to find someone who'd say something stupid. Put them all together in a row and you create the impression of a nation of idiots. Stilll laugh out loud funny, frequently. 4/5
Frost/Nixon: Brilliant drama, thought the acting was superb particularly Fangella as Nixon. Made me want to learn more about the period which is testament to the impression it made on me. Michael Sheen seems to be a very good character actor too, although I thought his was a better performance in The Queen. I think I'll have to see him in The Damned United at some stage over the next few weeks. 4/5
Foot Fist Way - Brilliantly Funny, any fans of Anchorman / Suoerbad / Tropic Thunder style comedy will love it. Danny McBride stars in the film, its really low budget but is still brilliant, couldn't recommend it more
Dead Man Shoes is brilliant, it surprises me that Paddy Considine wasn't pushed to greater things after this film, a small role in the Bourne Supremacy aside I don't think I've seen him in anything else of note, its definitely Meadows Best but in saying that This is England is mighty good too
The Queen - I liked it.
The International was much better than I'd expected. The plot's a little thin in places, but it doesn't really lose momentum.
Saw a preview of the Boat That Rocked on tuesday night
Some guy from Universal came out beforehand and said we were the first audience in Ireland to see it. and that the film wasn't quite finished. Apart from minor special effects that needed touching up, I didn't notice anything.
Anyway, great film, very funny, excellent soundtrack, totally recommend it.
the beach..............pure sh1te
Y tu mamá también (And your mother too) - Mexican coming of age road trip for two rich teenagers before they go to college.
Very good if you like something different as makes a change from seeing all Mexicans as poor. Not for those who are offended by sexual dialogue or content.
