Per the Athletic:
Villa to hold on to in-demand youth players
Aston Villa’s pledge to transform their academy into one of the most productive in the country means that the majority of their under-23 side will remain at the club past the next transfer window.
There is already increased interest from a number of lower-league sides looking to take some of Villa’s attacking players on loan in January, with both England Under-19 forward Jaden Philogene-Bidace, 18, and England Under-18 star Louie Barry, 17, attracting interest.
The pair have scored nine goals between them in eight games for Villa’s under-23 side this season but are expected to continue their development at Bodymoor Heath rather than moving elsewhere at this stage.
Republic of Ireland teenager Tyreik Wright, 19, may be granted a temporary move away though after the club decided against letting him leave in the last two windows.
One youngster who won’t be going anywhere just yet is Carney Chukwuemeka, the midfielder who has just turned 17. Last year, CEO Christian Purslow described him as the best English midfielder of his age and Villa were able to tie him down to a professional contract despite interest from Manchester United, Arsenal and Tottenham.
For anyone wondering what the young Irish lads at Celtic are up to these days, all three (Connell, Coffey and Okoflex) had a run out in what looked like a kick about in a park but was actually a youth cup game in Glasgow yesterday. Okoflex scored the opening goal in a 3-0 win.
It's a shame to see Connell stuck at this level, but Lennon was never going to give him a first team shot realistically. Maybe the new manager will see it differently (hard to see Lennon lasting much longer given his disastrous stint in charge) but I'd expect them to go for more signings in January to try and rescue the 10 in a row rather than trusting their youth players to rescue their season.
Frimpong went off injured today. Not that I expect it means anything for Connell.

Two games tonight, two Irish goalscorers (both in losses, though):
18-year-old Cole Kiernan came on for Middlesbrough against Fulham after 77 minutes and nabbed his first at this level five minutes later. Scored 10 in 23 for Sunderland U18s so may be worth keeping an eye on his progress - could become part of the Next Wave of young Irish strikers: https://www.premierleague.com/match/...-middlesbrough
And speaking of the Next Wave, Ethan Varian scored his second of the season in Stoke's 3-2 loss to Newcastle. Gabriel Adebambo also played: https://www.premierleague.com/match/...0-21/tbc-v-tbc

Agree, much less drama than KKs too which is great.
Sinclair Armstrong made his debut for QPR's U23 side earlier on, coming on as a substitute.
Danny Mandroiu has signed for Shamrock Rovers.
Shamrock Rovers' Brandon Kavanagh is training with Palace, and teammate Killian Cahill is reportedly interesting Brighton.

Neither Smallbone or Obafemi make the bench for Southampton tonight. Would have hoped both would have kicked on a bit more this season.
It seems strange to think that Obafemi was being linked with £10m moves to Villa and WBA a matter of a few months ago after some promising performances last season. His career really hasn't progressed this season as I'd hoped.
Smallbone's been injured recently, but again it's disappointing he hasn't seen more game time. I do think he'll come good, however.
Byrne has set mandriou a high bar which is great , Byrne brought great consistency hopefully mandriou can develop that under Bradley. Kavanagh and mandriou would be hard to fit in the same team I guess. Is Sean brennan with rovers full time now and finished at Southampton? Hopefully zefi is in rovers first team in the new year
Daniel Grant signing for Huddersfield subject to a medical. Would probably be aiming to go straight into the first team squad in the Championship.
There are different dates of birth listed for him online - December 1999 or October 2000. If it's 2000 he'll be eligible for our under 21s in the next campaign, if the December 99 date is correct he misses out by a week.
Edit - I see his Twitter handle is dangrant99. So he's too old for all our underage teams unfortunately.
