Look there was more than 1600 at the game from my perspective.
Maybe the club did try to swindle Shams out of a few grand, maybe the attendance was really 1600 or maybe there were other factors behind the attendance figure.

There is very little either sides of the debate with Shams fans and Rovers fans can do about that.

How was it that Doyle did not include something which was very damaging to Shams in his match report?
A former season ticket holder at Shams and a well known shams fan refereeing a Shams game?

My gut feeling is that it is over Money or the like but its well known those figures are significantly off.

Anyways its quite easy to estimate the attendance in the showgrounds since usually 80-90% of the attendance is in the New Stand.

The attendances in the Rovers programme are half baked. Most of them are rounded up, three of them have an odd number on the end. I think these figures are released to the press box to cover in their reports. The official figure for the cup semi final last season against Waterford was 2,900. It would be correct though to go on these figures in the programme for the attendance records on here and I say the club would be very happy with that.

I am clearly refering to the fact that none of us have any factual evidence here.
The only ones that do are Shams and Rovers officials.
Now when your ready respond to my whole post instead of conveniently dodging the fact that a referee who was a former season ticket holder at shams and was refereeing a shams game conveniently omitted some damaging instances from his match report.
Either him getting hit with objects from shams support or one of your fans getting arrested after stopping the game.

This thread has become a joke. Shams fans have got exctly what they wanted and deflected away from the game, the crap football they play and the result.

Shams fans are calling our club robbers. An attendance figure has been given out and all of a sudden were shafting an other club. Neither club, especially Shams, have made a statment on this. Until there is somthing official, the Mons on here would want to sort this out, because all that is happening is Sligo Rovers name been dragged through the mud.

If that were the case, Shamrock Rovers fans on here would be saying that the amount of money received seemed small in relation to the attendance announced. But they're pointing out that the official attendance seemed quite a bit smaller than their, and some Sligo fans' estimates.

I and seemingly they (Shamrock Rovers fans) have no idea whether the club was satisfied with their take of the gate.

If Sligo have managed to keep the profits of more than 500 paying customers for theselves, and only split up the proceeds of the official attendance with Shamrock Rovers, then the away team has a right to complain. It would by no means be the first time it has happened in LOI football. And to be honest, I can't imagine any other reason why a club would announce a lower attendance than there actually was.

I blame the 800 or so supporters who are "vertically challenged" It's obvious they are not tall enough to reach the new turnstile counter. Hence the low "official attendance" records.:embarrassed:

There's a fair bit of evidence...an official attendance significantly lower than what was obviously there on camera.

The other accusation is just that...peeled from a forum for the sake of argument with some conspiracy theory attached.

Absolute nonsense, the camera doesnt show the New Stand attendance since it is situated at the very back of the new stand.

Of course thats true, but the wider picture is that Sligo fans are consitently saying the attendance released by the club (through the programme) is low. For league game the money isn't split, so Sligo have absolutely no reason at all to give low figures. Unless of course, they're the correct figures and Sligo fans are wrong

The last "official" attendance given for a League game that I can remember was 1300 and something against UCD.
When there was clearly at least 1700-1800 at the game, even Stu who was there recognised that fact.
Its not some sort of self dillusion by Rovers fans, its just the simple fact that the "official" attendance figures given are wrong.

Are you for real. Thats no evidence of what happened between the club representatives and how the gate was allocated on the night.

Learn to think for yourself instead of reading some BS and take it as being fact.

For what it's worth, that wasn't in the match programme (yet) as it was at that game that I was reading the attendances.

The previous game had an official attendance of 1337, and I wasn't at that one (it was the midweek one).

Edit - and obviously, me thinking a crowd was 1700 doesn't mean the crowd was 1700.
