various reports that Sean Thornton has signed for FC Metalist Kharkiv in the Ukrainian Premier League, subject to a visa
from http://www.sportsnewsireland.com/soccer_irish/39017/
and http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/spo..._third_choice/Quote:
Sean Thornton, the former Irish U21 player and fans favourite at Sunderland, Doncaster and Leyton Orient , has recently agreed a 3 year contract (subject to visa) with Ukrainian side Metalist Khairkiv who play in the Ukrainian Premier League (Premyer Liha).
although describing him as a "fans favourite" is a bit wide of the markQuote:
Former Sunderland midfielder Sean Thornton is to join Metalist Khairkiv in the Ukraine.
According to their wikipedia entry - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FC_Metalist_Kharkiv - Metalist finished 3rd last season in the Ukrainian league, so will be in the Champions League?
<EDIT>
sorry, I'm wrong, they're entering the play off stage of the Europa League, the same as Spurs and Celtic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011%E2...Play-off_round
