"There were times when Rik and I were writing together when we almost died laughing. They were some of the most carefree stupid days I ever had, and I feel privileged to have shared them with him. And now he's died for real. Without me. Selfish b*stard."
-Ade Edmondson
RIP Rik.
There's an episode of Bottom in which they find a video camera, and use it with hilarious side-effects, that made me laugh as much as anything else I've ever seen.

Bobby Womack has shuffled across 110th street for the last time and is no longer California Dreamin. RIP.
Thankfully. Someone on Facebook thought I meant Bob Dylan when I referred to Bobby. They should've known better. God bless him.

Have to hand it to Guinness: they made a huge success out of marketing exercise until the recent negative publicity.
One of the greatest footballers of all time, Alfredo di Stefano, has died. One player winning 5 European Cups (Champions Leagues) and scoring a goal in every of those finals, not sure we will ever see that again!
Not to take away from an obvious great. He was blessed to play in an era when the EC wasn't taken too seriously.
RIP.
I remember when I was younger and all the debate was over Maradona was as good as Pele and my Dad would always say that "Maradona was barely as good as Di Stefano. Pele doesn't some into the reckoning."
I found this part in Gareth Bale's tweet about di Stefano just disingenuous.
"Don Alfredo was an inspiration to me"
Bale is only 24, it is quite likely he never of him until recently cause he was rarely ever mentioned in the British media and when he was growing up between late 90s and early 2000s, it was always Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Platini etc.
I agree with you about Bale. di Stefano was even well before my era!!

Eduard Shevardnadze, who was responsible for many key decisions on Soviet foreign policy during the Gorbachev Era. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union, he was President of Georgia (or in equivalent posts) from 1992 to 2003. He was forced to retire in 2003 as a consequence of the bloodless Rose Revolution.
The Garth Brooks Concerts ( all 5 of them )....... I find it odd that a lot of people who bought tickets to his concert call him Gareth Brooks. They cant be much of a fan if they dont know what his proper name is.
Tommy Ramone ......... was a punk rocker.
RIP Tommy
