2025 Arrivals and Departures

I’ve seen Anto Breslin linked with a move back to Bohs. I think a lot of Pats fans would be happy enough with that to be honest. He was a solid full back in years gone by but his performances and attitude this season have fallen off a cliff and he’s on a long term deal. I’d even say Pats would be happy enough to let him go without a fee just to get him off that long contract, which is something that’ll have to happen with a few more lads too. The last time he played was at home to Shels in what was one of the worst individual displays I can remember in recent years from a Pats player, before being taken off at half time and dropped from the squad for the following game in favour of Jay McClelland who’s had the left back spot ever since even though he’s not a full back, such has been the performances of Breslin and Kazeem this year

2 year contract, you may disapprove, but without Keleher's, O'Doherty's or Desmond's backing fundraising, and Jersey sales are central to the club's progression.

Outside of the Jersey that is all but confirmed since it was in the news update on the radio this morning I believe some players have had contract extensions as well so might hear some of those today.

Totally understand that and Bohs make good money doing it, fair play to them. But that doesn’t mean the rest of us can’t laugh at Bohs linking themselves to every non football related topic they can find and sticking it on merchandise

Yeah that’s fair. There are plenty of lads in this Pats squad that need to be let go but also will probably do well at the next club they’re at because the ability is there

I've seen the jersey stuff called cringe and embarrassing but if you watch the LOI regularly I dont think a jersey should even register as embarassing. Clubs need to raise money to pay players & staff, build academy facilities and plenty more. You can raise money many ways but this works for Bohs

I think people are allowed to snigger that Bohs, despite advertising themselves as a left-wing club, are hyper-commercialised and are willing sell anything.

You have to wonder do Bohs really have 'values', or are these 'values' just the best way to generate revenue.

Nearly all clubs walk-the-walk when it comes to being community focused in LOI. Bohs have just milked that to create revenue (and fair play to them).

Well we live in a commercial world, whether we want to or not we all have to participate in it, including Bohs. I dont want to support any Isreali settlements for example but its impossible for me to know exactly where everything I buy to live comes from and even harder to know who owns the various companies I buy from or where these companies invest. So Bohs can either play the commercial game and raise money for good causes while doing it or sit back and hope that revenue solely from fans and sponsors is enough to keep the club going. Thats not the case so things like this will be done to drive revenue so the club can be sustainable. As for values the Bohs partnership Jerseys have raised funds for Palestine, Bohs in the community and Bohs Pride comittee just this season. This Oasis Jersey follows suit its a split 50/50 profit with Bohs getting 50 %, 25% going to Music Generation Ireland and 25% going to Irish Community Care manchester. Raising money for good causes & investing in communites seems pretty left wing to me. Add to that the Jerseys are made in the Oneills factories in dublin so lower carbon footprint etc, the usual woke nonsense :D

When you say Bohs have milked it you are correct, and yes Fair play to them. We don't have a sugar daddy and have to create our own finances. Most sugar daddies end up being the downfall of clubs in Ireland. With that in mind Bohs give a percentage to various causes linked to the shirt. Aslan-hospice, Marly - Marly foundation and so on. If we could only keep full revenue from one of these we would probably be the wealthiest club in the land but that's not the case, therefore we restrict ourselves and make do. You have to say there's a nice ring to each of these Bob Marley, Thin Lizzy, Aslan, DC Fontains and Oasis. A better ring than the Corrs or the Mary Wallopers. Would you wear a Corrs Jersey?

Unfortunately for the clubs environmental officer, the aul carbon footprint arguement goes straight out the window when it’s the 6th jersey the club have released this year alone (home, away, third, normal GK jersey, Guinness GK jersey, Oasis Cup jersey) that are shipped all over the world. It’s pretty much the exact opposite of a lower carbon footprint. UCD to their credit have an amazingly low carbon footprint in terms of merchandise and its distribution I would imagine ;)

I don't think its a case of milking' anything - just a reality that Bohs have to generate reveune from somewhere. They can't run up a debt and they don't have a wealthy owner to carry the can for overspending. On top of that the club is going to be homelss once the redevelopment of Dalymount Park begins and that will put a significant financial burden on the club - they need financial reserves. I do think that a fourth (excluding goalkeepers) jersey this year is probably a bit much - but you don't have to buy it if you can't afford it or don't want to (and half the profits of the latest one is going to charity). Given that Oasis are trying to generate a bit of hype as well - it benefits both.

It would if every Bohs fan bought every jersey, every year. Most buy a home or away Jersey and a good portion only buy them every other year. Id wager that a few hundred or thousand Jerseys that go to the far flung corners of the world would still mean a lower total footprint than shipping in thousands of Jerseys from Bangladesh and then shipping them all over the world.

Anyways, back to football, I see Trivela have shown another example of how not to run a football club…

I mean, this exact scenario happened to Drogheda when James Brown went to Blackburn a few years ago and they weren’t entitled to any compensation as he was also over 23. Crazy not to know this stuff as an owner of multiple football clubs

Well, I don't have to wonder.
Not much revenue in prisoner outreach, joint initiatives with Intellectual Disability services support for asylum seekers.
Not exactly Revenue friendly initiatives, which I am proud that Bohs have initiated.
That other issues around Palestine etc happen to chime with the views of a good chunk of the population is great, but again, no exactly a revenue friendly subject.
The music tie ins, I couldnt give a f..ck about, and if they generate revenue to support ongoing community and human rights and climate projects, I am fine with that.
Plus , as a certain aged man I am swooning at the cameo role played by Paul Weller in the video launch today.

As a way to offset the inevitable financial hit they will take if/when they leave for the ground redevelopment ,it's a prudent move.
As for weller and quo-asis involved,the less said the better,but it appeals to a centre type of individual I guess.
The kneecap guy wearing the shirt at Glastonbury would surely be seen as better exposure but then what do I know about the vacuous corporate mind.
On the actual football front Taylor could be a decent acquisition for them

Plus the nonsense by Trivela telling Drogs fans they would make up the 525k euro loss, so effectively 1m down now, no way that was happening, otherwise they would have easily met DJT demands.

Said it at the time, I'd be fuming if I was a Drogs fan with their owners, they had 6 months to prepare for the unlikely event that the Danish club would not also make europe and did almost nothing but hope the other club wouldn't make it. No point blaming UEFA for that fxxx up.

Desmond put in 2 million about 6 or 7 years ago.
European money and transfers in that period are around 15 million and the members have raised probably around another 2m .
Thats not counting Gate reciepts and Sponsorships.
Desmonds money is not whats keeping the club going.

Never suggested it was, or never meant to. Mind you, if the finances went south I'd imagine you'd have Desmond or Ray Wilson to lean on. Also,
2 million isn't exactly small change, no? Hence the jerseys.
