I really don't get why people are so opposed to O'Leary. If he was Spanish and had achieved the success he did at e.g. Seville we'd be biting his hand off.
What's O'Leary's low with Leeds, 5th in the Premiership? Won 7 of his last 10? He had a bad couple of months following that court case and made a mistake with that book but a lot of history has been rewritten regarding his time at Leeds. Venables took over a team that had underperformed the previous season yet still finished 5th and took them into a relegation scrap.....I'd take O'Leary at this stage.Quote:

Are you trying to say that Keane would withdraw players from slection for IReland because Mc Carthy is the manager despite the fact that Quinn is the chairman there and the players would want to play.

fair point re: O'Leary at Leeds but things went very sour for him at Villa towards the end. And no, I wouldn't take Keane. I don't think he's proven himself yet as a manager...getting Sunderland promoted was a great achievement given where they were when he took over but, as you say, he got a lot more funds that McCarthy.Quote:

Some people are still polarised by Saipan though and will argue MM is a sh1te manager when he's actually half decent and argue RK is a brilliant manager when at this stage he's also half decent at best. There does look to be a big push on Dalglish. I wonder what rumours are behind the flood of money.

Intriguing character. Of all the candidates he is easily the most successfull club manager
and the most decorated.
Is there any hope that Delaney sees what we see. None of the current candidates are good enough. Hoddle/Daglish/Venables/Brady/O'Leary take your pick will not qualify us for the World Cup finals.
