Usual stuff linking Keane with Celtic but according to Spurs Chairman Levy there would be "no disruption to the core team."
Levy continued: "Having a settled squad gives us the best chance for consistency.
"We are striving for top-level displays, including the ability to take on and beat the so-called top-four teams."
Its funny to me that people think Keane will still be around for world cup 2014 Quals.

You are right as always Neil. He will play forever. Age will not be a factor for any of our players. What a relief! So its strange he might change teams again since he does not age and always plays well and will play forever though, no? Weird. Can you get to the bottom of that for me?
get to the bottom of this.... he was our top scorer by far in the most recent qualifying campaign and scored some critical goals. only as good as your last campaign and he was hugely important to usQuote:

33 is no age for some players. Henrik Larsson was as fit and effective in his 30s as he was in his 20s.

Keane is 29, a year older than Arshavin and berbatov who few would claim are knocking on the door of being on the way out. It annoys me that people here buy into the british philosophy of looking at a players age and making nonsensical sweeping judgments on their ability based on that number. A players career very rarely follows an n-curve pattern where they emerge at 21, peak at 27, start going down at 30 and retire at 34. It doesn't work like that in reality. Players peak at different times, some are peaked by 23 like Michael Owen, others not until well into their 30's like Makelele.
I think you're underestimating how important stamina is for most modern players. Players are also slower to recover from injuries, and accumulated physical problems can begin to cause difficulties.Quote:

Robbie should go in January but economics will scupper any such move. I'd like to see him move to Spain or back to Italy.

I do think his situation at Spurs is not being helped by the English media wanting Defoe and Crouch to get as much game time as possible in the run up to the world cup. I read something the other day about how he had to leave Spurs the last time because Defoe was keeping him out of the team then like now, when in fact it was Defoe that had to leave because of Robbie.That wasnt the first time Ive seen or heard things like that in the media.The more that happens the more the fans get on his back and Robbie is the type of player that needs confidence to be anywhere near his best.

In fairness this is an interesting time for Robbie. Its probably a case of how much he wants to prove to himself and the rest of the world that he can still do a good job at this level.
It may take an injury or Robbie hitting a good run of form but I still believe Robbie can do a good job at this level.
Had we qualified for the World Cup I think Robbie would be pushing hard for at least a loan move in January. As it is I think he will probably sit it out until the end of the season at Spurs and then take stock. In fairness to him I don't think there's been any drop off from him but Defoe is in the best form of his career and it was always likely to be either/or starting most games and right now that means Robbie is seeing a lot of the bench.
Earlier in the season it was Keane & Defoe but as Robbies form slid Crouch came in, that said I think RK will get a nother run soon because Crouch looks terrible at the moment.
Liverpool are struggling a bit at the moment......
Crouch caused a lot of problems for Man City the last night. He won countless headers and flicks that guys like Defoe and Lennon are thriving on. I don't see Defoe and Robbie playing together too often to be honest.Quote:
