McCarthy a doubt for Saturday with a tight hamstring. Poor Martinez.
I wrote that he was most likely to start the friendlies and if all went well ....
if you don't have the time to remember or express properly what you roughly remember, then best to leave it.
If you think he did well, I donīt argue with that opinion but my opinion of him doing well enough to be selected for Macedonia would be different. And I think Trap would have started him at CM if he was seriously giving him an audition for that starting place in our troubled spot.
I think you should give yourself more credit.
In general you have opinions which have merit, some maybe less so, 'but that's not important right now':)
What happens is that it appears that you don't respect your own opinions by not caring how they read.
I suppose Martinez had put the Head of a dead Thistle in James bed when he got back to Wigan !
Here's an article I came across on net. Just a rumour but still interesting on a boring sunday afternoon. An interesting summer lays ahead for young James methinks

^ That rumour is from a couple of weeks ago and has already been posted.
Nevertheless, it is good to see James associated with a move to such clubs.
Upcoming headline.
Trap to urge James to move clubs.
They play bridge together?
Interview with Martinez in the Examiner. Dodges the question about him muddying the waters but he's full of praise for McCarthy (and a couple of other Irish players).

Obviously Roberto is biased but I love reading stuff like this...
Positivity about Irish players no matter how ott is always welcomed on a morning commute.Quote:
"James McCarthy is someone that — potentially — can play in any team in world football. The Republic of Ireland have got an unique, world-class talent. I think it could make the difference [for the team] in the future.
I would prefer him to go to liverpool than Chelsea better chance of playing regularly and becoming the player we hope him to be
If he went to say Chelsea I don't think we would see him playing much, perhaps?
Suggestion Chelsea want to offload their older top-earners (Drogba, Lampard) and replace them with younger players on lower wages. They'll need to reduce their wage bill to meet the Financial Fair Play guidelines soon enough. The acquisitions of Ramires and Luiz are consistent with that.
Ya ive been listening to that, surely terry would be the top of that list, thats why im not quite sure the reason being spouted is the real reason. I think the real reason is they just want to get rid of lampard and drogba I mean, incase thats not clear enough.
Which come to think of it, makes me wonder if any truth to it at all, given the fact that Ancellotti said the chelsea severly missed drogba and lampard mid way through the season when they flopped. Given ancellotti is going to be sacked though maybe his views don't hold much credence.
Ancelotti has very little role in transfer dealings. They did miss Lamps and Drogs but he can only work with what he's given. Terry is different I think - he's the club talisman, captain and doesn't have the same injury concerns as Lampard.
Im absolutely giddy about the prospects of Long, Mac, Coleman, Meyler, etc being in their prime at the same time..... also seems like Martinez is trying to mend fences a bit.
Wonder where James wants to play if he leaves...
Here's the latest article in the Daily Mail linking him with a move to Liverpool. Nothing new here but nice just to keep to keep the story rolling:

Show off.
absolutely atrocious for Wigan today in my opinion.
Anonymous in the first half apart from one sloppy pass in his own half which almost lead directly to a goal. Same in the second and again a slip and then hurried pass in an advanced position leads to a one on one for Darren Bent that Al Habsi does well to save.
Agreed, utterly anonymous today. Very disappointing from him
Certainly had a poor game today. On the subject of a possible move to a bigger club Liverpool would be such a better move than Chelsea. Daglish plays young players regularly like Flanagan and Robinson while I think at Chelsea, McCarthy would not be given such opportunites, but might just make the bench.
Yeah it was Cleverly. Thought it was McCarthy as well until I the number four appeared further back the pitch, to my disappointment! In relation to a potential move, I'm sure he'll pick the right option. He has managed his career very well to date, choosing development over prestige. I can't see him wasting his time at Chelsea at this crucial point, I hope not anyway.
Chelsea wont go near him, they dont even give their own youth a chance. A move there would be a disaster for a very up and coming career
Its been nearly 2 weeks and no post in this thread. Whats going on?!?
James taken off at half time yday. Seems to have put in a few poor performances lately, wonder if the the long season has taken its toll.
Watched the first half yesterday. He made a couple of strong purposeful runs with the ball but other than that didn't really contribute. He had two wayward passes and seemed a bit disinterested at times yesterday. 2-0 down at half time, Martinez was always going to bring on a second striker (Sammon) with McCarthy being sacrificed. Watson was left in to anchor midfield. He looks increasingly lethargic and needs a good break this summer. It will be interesting to see if he starts against Stoke next wkend
Typical Trap favouritism. It's a disgrace McCarthy hasn't been dropped at this stage...
