if he is including gibson in that already the future does look bright for him. He needs to really use these chances though, i can see him being involved with united at the same level as flethcher however, no more no less from what I have seen of him thus far.
Well if Fergie has has much patience with Gibson as he did with the Fletch he'll be given every possible opportunity to prove himself. Fletcher to me and many others looked absolutely brutal for the first couple of yrs at United but has proven to be a very useful squad player in the last couple. He has also soared as a vital component in the Scottish national side so hopefully Gibson can do something similar, he has it all to prove though.
Fletcher has started more Premiership games than any other outfield player this season for Utd.
No he hasn't is right. Berbatov and Vidic are two that have definitely started more Premier League matches and I think Ronaldo also. He has more than any other central midfield player alright but that's purely circumstantial. Firstly is versatile having played at right back as well as centre and right midfield. More importantly injuries to Hargreaves, Carrick, Scholes and even Ronaldo at the start of the season have moved him up the pecking order. Andersons injury should give him another few starts and even the absence of Rafael and Evans could mean a few more games at right back. Think we've lost the run of this 'Darron Gibson' thread and I'm only taking partial responsibility!!
mis heard or mis read?
not even on the bench today :(
thought that was a bit harsh.
Probably the only fit manchester united player 1st team player not in the squad today. Although i do think we over analyse players on this site. Were we for example focus on Ronaldo for a game as if we were irish, the way gibsons performance was analysed on tuesday. we'd all spot plenty me mistakes he makes etc.
Left out of the squad which really surprised me! The 3 fresh injuries achieved today to Fabio, Ronaldo and Welbeck should mean more action for Darron Gibson though.
Starts centre-mid vs Derby today!
I think it is fair to say that if he doesn't make a career for himself at Man Utd it won't be for the lack of chances Ferguson has given him.
This is live on ITV 1 right now. Nearing half-time.
Just scored.
Just Scored!
SNAP!!!!:D
Well Done Gibbo!
Gibson just scores. Edge of the box shot from a deflection off a ronaldo freekick.
Well done Darron!
Just scored! (slow connection ;))
Took his chance well. Derby have been poor though.
He's had an impressive first-half so far. He had a couple of chances and took his goal very well. Looks comfortable and assured.
Good news for us!
Second-half about to begin.....hopefully more to come from young Darron.
He's pinged some great passes around, very impressed with his vision.
Second half..............he's continuing to play well. :D
Highlight thus far - a long range, perfectly executed cross-field pass to Giggs. Impressive!
He just got the man of the match award.
Jim Beglin says he hopes Trap is watching - "Gibson is just the kind of player we need." Sneaky!
Have to say..............assuming that Ireland returns(bear with me), a centre midfield of him and Gibson looks a mouthwatering prospect.
Great, solid display by Gibson today.
Looked comfortable on the ball and a very assured central midfield performance.
Worth remembering that he's only 21
The goal made me laugh, right place, right time. Reminded me of how little kids just kick it forward.
Delighted for the guy. With his Wembly appearance on 1st March, another good display will give Trap much food for thought
Fergie had words of praise for him recently, he made a point of mentioning how well he's progressing and he was excellent today, he used the ball very impressively and took his goal well. If he could translate that sort of form to the national team he'd be an excellent option. He should play in the Carling Cup final as well as mentioned which will be further valuable experience for him.
Excellent display today, really looks a lot more comfortable playing in the middle rather than wide, like someone earlier said, if him and Ireland were to get it going we could have two top class central mid's, a lot of if's there of course!
A very impressive and encouraging performance for young Gibson today. He was very assured, calm and comfortable on the ball. He had a couple of chances at goal in the first half and took his goal well. It is, in my opinion, just obvious that he has ability, and I suppose by extension the potential to make it at United. His style of play is not dissimiliar to Carrick. To me he is like a cross between Carrick and Lampard. He has a strong range of passing - with both feet, has an eye for goal(especially from long range) and his positional sense is of a high calibre. Crucially, aside from Ferguson obviously rating him, he does add a physical presence which will probably bode well for him, given that United are lacking in this department in midfield at present. The only downside is that he is a bit one-paced.
Some of his long range passing and vision today was superb and he more than deserved his MOTM award. We certainly have a player here!
As I have said before, and I suppose there is a certain irony here - given it's current state, that centre midfield is the area of our team where I have most optimism for the future. If Ireland does come back, a midfield made up of him, Gibson and McCarthy in the future is certainly something to look forward to. Add to that the possible admission of Barry Maguire and the emergence of Garvan and O'Toole, and we will have, I believe, a quite exceptional midfield, made up of good, natural, technically gifted footballers.
Great to see Darron doing well.I am a big fan of Garvan and hopeful about O Tolles potential.Having said that, Chris McCann seems to be the lad who is making the biggest impact after Gibson.
Well played Daron Gibson. He is one of many talented young midfielders that we have which makes me optimistic for the present and the future.
