christy hennessy passed away this morning
Ike Turner passed away on Tuesday. Usually don't speak ill of the dead but Ike wasn't a very nice man. Bad Ike!
Fella in my class took IKE as his nick-name as he idolised Ike Turner.
Joe Dolan
R.I.P.
A good friend of the family.
R.I.P. Joe.
There's no show like a Joe show! :)
RIP Evel Knievel, Benazir Bhutto, Joe Dolan, Christie Hennessy :(....................Joey Barton's career :D
Phil O'Donnell, Motherwell Captain (breaking news on Sky)

Awful to hear that. Especially as Motherwell doing so well this season. Hope they can win something for him. R.I.P.
He joined Wednesday at the same time as Simon Donnelly but neither alas made much of an impact in an ailing Wednesday side. Shocking news: you just never know what's around the corner. Not sure what Donnelly is currently or whether he's still playing.
Irish actor, Peter Caffrey:

RIP Phil O'Donnell. OwlsFan, were Wednesday in the premier league when/after he joined them? Part of the Celtic (1 in a row!) team that stopped the 10 in a row from Rangers so will never be forgotten

More of a personal one, seeing as I knew him, but Phillip Hogarty is the first road crash victim of 2008. Chairman of the Irish Chess Union and one of the top players in Ireland. I even beat him back when he was slightly nearer my strength. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
...the Burlington. I also know two guys losing their jobs as a consequence :(
Used to go there a lot in my "Leeson Street" night club days. Sad day for Dublin losing a landmark like that for some characterless apartments.
Only read today that the actor Peter Caffrey died on New Year's Day.
He was brilliant in I Went Down and I remember him making a hilarious appearance in the Father Ted Eurovision episode.
Ronan Lawor, Missing in Chile since November, his body has been discovered

Dan Fogelberg, singer and song writer:

Brad Renfro (25), found dead at his home in LA.
I thought he was very good in the Client and later on in Sleepers and Apt Pupil.
Arse. It was bound to happen, he was in drug trouble this last 2/3 years. He did some fantastic films as a child actor, and although he had recently slipped into tv guest spots, he was almost certain to rehabilitate his career with his part in Bret Easton Ellis' "The Informers" , currently shooting with Billy Bob Thornton & Mickey Rourke.
Yeah, I checked out his movie credentials on IMDB and he managed to rack up some amount of films despite doing a stint in prison.
Brad reminds me a lot of River Phoenix...
You're absolutely right sligoman. I'm probably thinking of his time in rehab and not the jail time. He was handed down a jail sentence which was suspended provided he'd enroll in a 18 month to 3 year outpatient program (just reading what's out there).
Between 2001 and 2006 he only starred in 11 productions...Nothing listed for 2007...
How and ever, good actor gone too soon. RIP
Ernie Holmes, a member of the famous 'Steel Curtain' defensive line and winner of two super bowls.
Bobby Fischer, former World Chess Champion.
Poor aul Bobby. Chess genius and all round...em...interesting character. Once locked himself in a room and refused to play a World championship game because the cameras were making too much noise. I think it was him who accused a Soviet opponent of colluding with coaches by picking up radio signals in his teeth during a game? Had a warrant put out for his arrest by playing a re-match of the 72 World Championship in Yugoslavia just to spite the US (he still won, despite not having played in almost 20 years).
The world's a duller place this evening.
