Daniel Kearns being chased by Blackpool, Burnley, Derby and Peterborough

Hmm think being managed under Poyet in a fairly attacking side, with promotion momentum, might've been the better move.
Brighton definitely a better option than Palace. They are on the up with a great vibe about the place and an attacking, progressive manager. Youngirish lives there too.
I dont know, Brighton certainly have a buzz about them, but two years ago Peterborough also had, double promotion, new stadium on that cards, a certain young Ferguson at the helm, comparable size of club, but the Championship found them out, as it could well do with Brighton. Palace are short of a few bob just now but have recent Premiership pedigree and visit that division now and again, good solid outfit and fanbase with potential, overall, not a lot in it.
Think Poyet's the difference. Sooner or later he's going to end up in the Premierhship and Garvan a cultured player who could really benefit from his kind of influence.
I take your point, and it is a feather in Garvans cap to have interest from a manager who plays the way he does, however the Championship is an uncultured beast of a division, industrial percentages football, much of the time and we will have to see how he does there, its not a given. If in nine months, Brighton are troubling the playoffs while Palace need a win to secure safety then Garvan will have called it wrong.
Anyway, here we all are discussing the merits and demerits of a former Irish U21 player almost moving between Champoinship sides, roll on August, for the love of God.
Southend United are considering a bid from Peterborough for Kane Ferdinand thought to be in the region of £300,000

Anyone looking at any LOI players??
Thought Finn might have got a move this summer.
He is the cousin? So the mammy's both married two brothers i gather looking at the surnames? was ferdinands mothers maiden name kane by any chance?!
Good question, Rio's dad is from Saint Lucia while Kane's is from Ireland, and Kane has never met Rio or Anton
http://www.garethmaher.com/articles/...kane-ferdinand
Ok so both parents are irish, the mammys both married ferdinands. What a coincidence. I wonder was any bit of the above right i.e. her maiden name was kane?!
Or are the ferdinands somehow related from st lucia further down the line :) Or through Irish ancestry in the carribean....
'Tis an interesting one alright and I'm pretty sure it was explained a while back on here, but I can't find the exact post right now. Could it be this? Kane's father is Dublin-born, and presumably not a Ferdinand, so I'd guess Kane's mother (surnamed Ferdinand) is a sister of the father of Rio and Anton. Both Ferdinand's just happened to get into relationships with Irish partners and Kane took his mother's surname as his parents weren't married. Kane must be close to his father too though if he feels some affinity with Ireland. Does that add up? Without sounding too voyeuristic...

"Michael Kightly - Kevin Doyle is focused on Wolves and ignoring link to Arsenal": http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/...-on-wolves-andQuote:
The Daily Star are linking Wigan Athletic with a move to bring Manchester United and Republic of Ireland midfield man Darron Gibson to the DW Stadium on a season long loan deal.
Gibson had a proposed move to Premier League rivals Sunderland fall through, allegedly due to the players personal demands, but with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson making it clear that the 23 year old is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford there would be a possibility of this deal coming off.
Quote:
Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Michael Kightly has said that striker Kevin Doyle remains committed to the club despite the intense speculation about his future.
Doyle has been linked with a move to Arsenal, who have reportedly been big admirers since his days at Reading, but Kightly is adamant that he wants to stay and help Wolves build a team to challenge in the Premier League.
Paul Rowan has stated that Garvan has moved to Brighton for £500,000 (fee was £300,000) in todays Sunday Times. Along with other confirmed moves like Rooney, O'Shea, Sledge, etc. Presume this is an example of yet another "expert" journalist on irish football getting it completely wrong?

The mother of Rio and Anton Ferdinand is a Janice Lavender (presumably Irish-born or of Irish descent; not sure which). Their father is Julian Ferdinand, a Saint Lucian.
Kane Ferdinand's mother is a Ferdinand - sister of Julian - and his father is a McGovern born in Dublin. It would appear that the Irish links on both sides are unrelated and merely coincidental.
Kane, Rio and Anton were all born in London. Think that clarifies everything.
Edit: By the way, Kane is going by the name of McGovern for the UEFA European Under-19 Championship.
