Great win for Abbey. good game on a great pitch. Abbey deserved the victory on the night
Carew 2 - 6 Abbey Rovers
Good win for Abbey tonight
kilmallock 7 abbey 0 ( seanie kelly x2 niall burchaill benni burke anthony punch niall moloney and vincent kelly )great team performance to see us through to another league title
bit unfair on hyde and castle that they fixed this game without it being on the paper....... abbey had so many missing players a lad told me that there is no doubt killmallock are the best team in the lge but they would have liked to had given a chance to give them a better game.
Well done to Kilmallock
I didnt hear any reports on the match but we were missing alot of starters last night. First we heard the match was on was Saturday night. It didnt give many players enough time to organise the time of work. I think Kilmallock were looking for a favour on the fixture of this game as they were struggling with the league and cup fixture list. Thats what i heard but im not sure how true that is. We would liked to have had our strongest team out as the score line does not reflect nicely on Abbey. again well done to Killmallock on their achievements this season
If the fixture wasn't in the paper and it was going to hamper Abbeys team then they should have refused the match. Having seen both Killmallock and Abbey play Killmallock would have beaten Abbey even if Abbey weren't short players. It was a close run league but Killmallock over the course of the whole season came out on top end of story. They have won Division 4, 3B, 3A and now 2B so I don't think Hyde or Castle could have too many complaints.
Im surprised to hear you say that Kilmallock would have beaten Abbey anyway because if we all thought that way we wouldent take to the field every week.
Also i can think of 4 or 5 results in the last week or so that we wouldent expect to hear.
Im not having a go at Kilmallock but im sure a lot of people would agree with me that the fixtures are favouring some teams and hampering others.
I agree nothing was every won before teams took the field but as I say having seen both play I would have expected a Killmallock win regardless.
This also happened us last season with Caherdavin B by the way. Weston played Killmallock at the end of the season even though it wasn't in the paper. Weston had an objection in against Chaleville at the time but Killmallock didn't know this. They thought the match was a dead rubber so a lot of their players played with their A team the same night to help the A team stay up. Weston beat an understrength Killmallock team and won their objection to get promoted. We didn't know where we stood or what we had to do because we hadn't even realised Killmallock where playing Weston. Their was nothing we could do about it though and lost out on automatic promotion. The only thing teams can do is worry about their own results and let whatever happens happen because everything else is basically out of their control.
[QUOTE=skud_missile;1480597]any of ye ever think kilmallock could have been missing players aswell , or does that only happen to losing city teams, because kilmallock had 3 regular starters out and other 2 or 3 players pushing for places missing[/QUOTE.
a win is a win and you can only beat whats in front of you well done again
Congratulations to the Kilmallock Lads. They were the best team in the league and deserved to win. Nobody in Hyde is even talking about the Abbey game, having seen how Kilmallock played against us we couldn't see a full Abbey team beat them anyway.
Any results from the promption/relegation play-off's lads?
Castle 0 2 Hyde
Congratulations to hyde on promotion from kilmallock b must say i thought that ye would a much tougher game from castle as they were at home
looking forward to meeting again next season as ye are a good bunch of lads and try to play the game as it should be played
