I did ask for dreadful play examples apart from the 3 poor crosses,
dreadful in football terms means extremely poor.
It does píss me off no end when an Irish fan goes out of his to find fault with one of our players and label his overall first half as dreadful, especially when using pieces of play where he did alright, he did good or he didn't do that bad.

Not dreadfull
McGeady was covering the Georgian nr 14 on the right.
Quite farcical to allude to McGeady at all in that horror of horrors.
Quote:
02:00: stood back waiting and never competed for a Kilbane pass allowing the Georgian full back to clear comfortably
So so,
He did not compete, but to call that a "Kilbane pass" is a dreadfull description of a hail mary miscontrolled ball.
Kilbanes "pass" was the dreadful thing in that move.
Quote:
05:10: miscontrolled a simple pass from Kilbane, ball went out for a Georgia throw.
He did.
Quote:
05:40: ran onto a ball on the left that came off a defender in yards of space and hit a woeful cross far too near to the goalkeeper at least 10 yards away from Doyle the nearest Irish forward
First cross, dreadfull
Quote:
07:55: took a pass out on the left from Duff and crossed (shot! :))the ball way ahead of any of the forwards and over the nearside post/bar
Not dreadful
3 forwards V 5 defenders, none of the forwards in any good position.
Very good attempt at a shot, Ireland's best effort of the early period, which isn't saying a lot.
Quote:
08:45: took a back heeled pass from Keane, beat a player and hit a low short pass/cross into the nearside of the box which might have been intended for Keane but which was behind him.
Not dreadful
The ball arrived right onto Robbie's right foot. Robbie chose to step over it.
Not great by McGeady, but not bad.
Quote:
09:30: clumsily ran across Iashvilli, needlessly gave away a foul in the centre circle which allowed the Georgians to break free down the left side, thankfully their attempt to cross was worse than McGeady’s first efforts.
Clumsy, nothing more.
Quote:
11:30: half heartedly went for a Keane layoff then dived in and gave away a free on the touchline
Not dreadful play.
Half heartedly is BS description, McGeady gave it 100%.
Quote:
12:30: took another lay off from Keane down the left after Doyle won the ball in the air and hit a pass straight to a Georgian defender with Keane and Doyle at least 20 yards away
Beautiful control by McGeady to trap a poor lay off by Keane.
Any other player would have not have pulled that off.
Awful pass into empty space.
Only pass miscontrolled? (apart from the crosses)
Quote:
15:40: took a pass out on the left from Doyle, tried outside the full back, came back inside and hit another woeful cross that did clear the first defender in the box.
Second poor cross
Quote:
17:05: took a pass from Duff, this time on the right, and once again, hit a weak cross that did not beat the first defender
3rd poor cross
Quote:
23:35: picked up another ball down the right, ran the full back and crossed but yet again the ball never beat the first defender who cleared for a corner
Because he is not George Best, not beating a defender is bad play
You might have noticed the covering defenders had something to do with his choices, both on the outside and the inside, McGeady won a corner FFS. McGeady did very good here.
Quote:
31:55: picked up a pass from Andrews in his own half on the right, then played a badly placed and paced pass to Whelan who was dispossessed in the centre circle
So so,
it was a solid pass.
Whelan should have played it to Kilbane just out of picture. That was the obvious pass for a CM to make, not let the ball run on past him.
That play just exemplified some of the shortcomings of CM.
Quote:
38:20: won a good corner after chasing down a long through ball from O’Shea but then wasted it taking a short corner to Duff from which the Georgians won a throw in.
Hard to tell, did Duff pass it back to him in a difficult position?
Quote:
39:05: took another lay off from Doyle down the right hand side tried to go outside the full back but once again a low weak cross did not clear the first defender
4th poor cross, one more than I thought.
Quote:
40:25: McGeady’s best moment when he picked up the ball well inside his own half, ran at the defence and shot from about 25 yds forcing a save from the keeper
Quote:
44:20: poor attempt to pick up a short pass from Doyle, looked like he pulled out from challenging the defender
Ridiculous, if that was McGeady making the pass you´d say awful pass to Doyle who was in a poor position to receive a pass.
