I think Premier League games on a Saturday afternoon is a great idea. All the referees would be available and this would also free up more referees on Sundays and in doing so would allow teams in the lower divisions to have games more consistently than at the moment owing to the shortage of officials in our game.
Agree totally !!!
cant see the dinosaurs agreeing to that ...
is there any team looking into the possibility of getting floodlights?
as far as i know the fai is encouraging teams to get these as it eases the strain on referees because matches can be spread over thursday, friday and saturday evenings as well as sundays.
frees up players weekends as well
I think a lot of the ref's do schoolboy matches on saturdays so it would not really free them up.
It would be good to have some matches on a sat, even half the premier on each day would be good. would increase the people going to games imo
i would have thought the same myself but the club i play for got them in this year and by all accounts they are not that expensive.
as i said i think there is grants to be got for them and the crowds are much bigger on a friday night than a sunday and by extension the bar does a better trade.

Schoolboy games on Saturdays are 10.30am and 12 noon kick offs only. There are no afternoon games. Some "schoolboy referees" don't officiate at Junior level and vice versa. I think its very workable and worth exploring at least. Clubs with their own grounds would take in a lot more on "gate money" also on Saturday afternoons. Wouldn't it be great to be able to go out after a game on Saturday night and not have to be up at the unearthly hour of 9am or earlier each Sunday in the middle of winter!!
As i said earlier the ldmc wont even consider it...
Great idea, I dont think anyone is a fan of Sunday morning games.
this is a crowd that ruled that a projector was not allowed to be used by the council itself..... at their own agm
unless certain clubs get lights i would be very suprised to even hear it being discussed...
I have had numerous dealings with that crowd.... more intelligence in a pea..
the reason that saturday afternoon matches wont work is because of rugby. the AIL league is on saturday afternoon and alot of people and players are involved with both sports. also the fact that they will attract crowds aswell means it always wont mean bigger crowds at matches. im not saying everyone is involved in rugby but the fact is it wouldn't suit players playing both sports and the fans of both.
im probably gonna sound life an awful big headed so and so but football wise yes the standard in the league im playing in now is higher than the premier league in limerick but the facilties in limerick more than match any of them. janesboro, pike, fairviews facilities are second to none and aisling regional etc are not far behind
the lights i believe are truly a great idea, say for example janesboro, fairview or pike had them in, and on a friday night pike are playing regional in the league at 7:30 in the pike field, it would draw a massive crowd plus pike would clean up in the bar with both sets of players having a good few drinks before heading into town for a night out.
the winners of the junior premier league in dublin (aul) went to south africa last year and miami the year before courtesy of the sponsors of the league, nivea and the star newspaper, so its not all to do with money insofar as the league dont have to front up the money
Come on lads i think very team has a Hula,he could be anybody!
Can name 2

Its mark.Obviously the standard is higher, its a step up from junior and 1 away from eircom league. It would be a great idea, every team have floodlights but cant see it happening.Limerick premier league is sponsored by the kilmurry lodge.Cant see them stumping up the cash for a trip abroad.
