If there is no one pulling out then there is no room for them.
I also heard this, a member of the council told me that there is no room for them in this league and they'll have to start lower and work their way up so we'll have to wait and see ? (even tough they will be very strong) I also heard that both their A and B teams were training the other night and had about 35 training ? Any truth in this ?
In answer to who we are signing:
Pike B new signings. (Excuse me if a few names are wrong, it's pre season and will take awhile!)
1 Sean Lynch (Exceptional goalkeeper previously in Desmond league.)
2 Alan Mc Namara (Goalscoring Midfielder who played many seasons before signing for Hill Celtic)
3 Darren Duffy (Veteran Full back who is also returning from Hill Celtic)
4 Michael O Neill (Solid defender plays full back or centre half, brother of David ex Pike Premier)
5 Shane Considine (Really impressive looking striker who played for our minors a few years ago, will get a bag of goals)
6 Jonathon ?Lipper? (Another lad who played minor with Pike, a good defender, full back or Centre half)
7 Robert Sheehy (Midfielder returning from Murroe)
8 Ray Massey (Lively winger/centre forward who scored many goals in Desmond league and is seriously quick)
9 Paudie ?? (Excellent midfield man who'd run through a brick wall. Plenty of Desmond league experience. One to watch in this division. Could play higher in my opinion)
10 Kieran Stewart (Colorful Keeper returning to us also from Hill Celtic, brother of Gordon)
11 Paddy Mc Carthy (Super little player with great left foot. Only 17 and a real fine player)
Add to that, John Paul Ryan, Richard Meehan, Philip Coffey, Darren Hanrahan, Adrian Lipper, Arthur Kosovo, James Doran, Mickey Lipper and a few others possibly to come.
Last night's 1st round games (remainder 1st round tonight games tonight):
Dromore 3 Bruff 0
Knockainey 3 Holycross 0
Bruff were short a few (appear to be struggling with numbers) but Dromore will have to do a lot better in Premier if they are to survive, looked like a 1B side last night.
Knockainey look the fittest team around at the moment and think are a real good bet for the title this season, with a number of very good players returning to the fold after going AWOL for a couple of seasons. Holycross matched them chance for chance in first half but superior fitness won out in the end - but it's Knock for the title - get the money down! :ball::cool::ball:
I heard caherdavin will struggle again this year they have a very young team, shells and coonagh have also lost a few players. It could be anyones leauge again this year.
did ye play a game last nite pike b.a lot of new signings.no sign of wesley or fitzy, odonnell,
No game last night, training. We play this Sunday at home to Caherconlish on the A pitch so will get a real good look at our fitness levels.
As far as I know Paul, Fitzy and Wes are not returning to us, but I'm not 100% sure of this.
Ya a lot of new signings alright, but Dober is getting us plenty of friendlys so the lads should be well used to each other by first league game.
Greetings Pike B. Ya, have 1 or 2 new faces and talking to a few more. No big ambitions though after the last few seasons of struggle and toil. Trying to put a squad together that can hold their own at this level and build from there. Got big under-age section, and starting to achieve success at various age levels in schoolboy league, but wont see the fruits at junior level for a few seasons yet. V modest hopes for the season ahead.
You seem to have a decent bunch of lads playing for ye and with a couple of good signings ye would have no problem staying up. I remember going out to ye on first day of last season, and seeing how young and fit ye looked. I thought we'd be chasing ye all night but we beat ye well. (Mind you ye returned the favour up in Pike later that season!!) I remember thinking that with a few more experienced heads to go with your youth ye would be a pretty decent side.
Best of luck with the new season, I always enjoy playing out there, especially the pint of Guiness in the pub next door after.
Top notch!!
how young and fit they looked????? Pike B i'm looking at you in a whole new light:p
Tonight's semi-finals:
Dromore 0 Hospital 2
Knockainey 2 Caherconlish 1
Dromore, albeit missing a few, were extremely poor on the night. Hospital were missing 4 or 5 first choice players but a least tried to play a passing game, and were deserving of their win.
Knockainey (minus ace marksman Nigel Finch aka 'Crouchy') continue to impress and even though not a great game created more than their opponents. Caherconlish looked good in the first half but hoofed too many balls in the second. Knock advance on merit, and their price for the 08/09 1B title continues to tumble on the exchanges!
