Its about the health and safety of the cameras obviously..
a lot of the guys who do tv 3 are contract using their own gear and not tv 3, so for them its equipment damage first ....as you'd realise their camera is their main business asset, damage that and they can't work so they won't risk it...
the tv 3 staff is h & S as they are employees and have basic rights which envoked, any union person would understand that, i am not and refuse to be a union sheep....
the tv 3 staff is their own business, could be lookin for better money etc, but i do understand the stance of the contract workers as if my dj gear was put as risk by work i did and it was damaged i'm in a position where i have work and no means to do it and if i wish do i must fix the damage and hire while i wait....
i personally think if this mess clears up the fture it could be worth it....fingers crossed...
So why are people not complaining about filming in Lansedown road, in even worse conditions than any of the LOI grounds? Why is it not a health and safety issue there?

Lads, that doesn't even come into it though .... TV3 have said when the grounds are sorted then they will go back to filming ... pointing out other inadequate grounds help resolve the grounds.
In short .... if the clubs dont sort out the grounds then it is an impasse.
Nothing else ...... so we can all pointly the finger at the grounds holding up the only programming the league gets as they are the ones .... wait for it ..... the ones that are holding up the only programming the league gets.
Does anyone know when this might happen .... timescale .... anything ..... even with a bítchy answer and an excuse .... just let us know when, focus on the time part if possible ??
Thanks !!
sky is a top gig for any camera man, and the pay is designed as a golden handshake, they pay so much you don't complain.....simple as that
And what about before Sky were covering Ireland matches, nobody saw fit to complain then.Quote:

In fairness ... it is all we have (as bad as it is) but you have to be serious as well, if the clubs/fans/anyone with an interest wanted something to change, then there would be something organised to lobby RTÉ (national broadcaster) to change the current situation. AND i am not on about sending an email ... them giving an excuse and then giving up. I am talking about an organised group, approaching TD's etc. and ombudsmen and any other regulator and get an organised continued campaign to rallying support and actually make it change. I dunno ... go to European regulators and raise the issue with them. There is loads that can be done. A petition for each club at about 5-10 games on the trot should get at least 80% of people who go to games. Irish international games ... get the barstoolers to sign aswell. There is nothing happening to change it so it is not good enough to sit at a keyboard and make up conspiracy theories. Sorry if it ****es people off.
So if fixing gantries in two grounds means getting the only half hour of eL back on our screens then so be it .... i know you think i am mad ... but this is fairly easily resolved. TV3 have said when we sort out the grounds, they'll be back. We have no reason (serious reason, not a conspiracy theory or any other shíte that people are coming out with, if you want my opinion, the conspiracy theory is an excuse for clubs not to sort out the problem and i seriously believe that, from the way certain clubs are behaving and what they ae saying.)
I will keep reminding people about this until it is sorted out. We shouldn't listen to a lame excuse not to sort the gantries ASAP.
Having read all 7 pages of this thread, I will make the following observations
Ok let's agree Tolka and Richmond's gantries are not up to scratch.
How does that exonerate TV3 from covering Longford, Bohs, Cork City, and Derry City home matches?
It might mean EL weekly going fortnightly for a while, but where's the harm in that? Some coverage is better than none after all.
Then pineapple stu's point about goal of the month, well they might catch a sizeable minority of them but it would be better than what we have now.
Other option would be to negotiate with the IRFU to stage certain EL games in Lansdowne so they can be shown in highlight form later on
Some obvious options would be Dublin City V Shamrock Rovers; Dublin City V Shels; Dublin City V Bohs ; Dublin City V St. Pat's Shels V Bohs; v Pat's V Rovers and anyone else really
Shamrock Rovers home games worth televising
St. Pat's home games worth televising
In fact if the first game kicked off at 6:45 there could be double headers
Each group of supporters could get an end to them selves or the lower sections of the stands
There could be the option of playing games on Saturdays one in the early afternoon followed by another one.
These are potential solutions to the gantry problem.
Another one might be the installation of hoists
Bring the stands for the cameras up the stairs fairly light
Install a hoist to the side of the TV gantry and hoist the camera into position thus removing the H & S problem.
For the record the gantries were installed in all EL grounds at the time including Whitehall at an approximate cost of £IR 10,000 each.
They were installed at RTE's request. Not sure who eventually paid for them but I believe it was a combination of the FAI and the clubs, though I am open to correction on that latter point.
One of the basic problems with the League and the clubs to a lesser extent is the tunnel vision displayed by its officials.
A little bit of lateral thinking along the lines above is required.
I'm coming late to this debate too, but it seems blatantly obvious to me that TV3 are playing games. I don't know the ins and outs of the situations at Tolka and Richmond, but as CollegetillIdie pointed out, these are not the only grounds in the league. So have TV3 got similar concerns about Turners Cross, Flancare, RSC, Brandywell, Drogheda ? If they have, then the FAI or the league needs to get all the clubs together to sort it out. If they haven't, which is the implication in the posts of the TV3 apologists(Max Power, A Face-are you on a retainer from TV3 ?), then they are taking the ****, pure and simple. Do you suppose if Man U were playing in Tolka or Richmond, and TV3 had the rights that they might somehow find a way up the gantry ? Oh sorry, silly me, that would be totally different. That would be something they actually wanted to show. I say no more international match access for them until they show a decent committment to covering the league. And RTEs coverage, when they were doing it, may not have been weekly, but at least it was professional. :(
a post by an official pats steward on our mb says pats were awarded the safety cert last week for the gantry
presume its all tv3's fault now.....
Thats great news about Pats gantry ..... Pats and Rovers home games should now be OK !!
What is the latest on Tolka ??
Can anyone let us know what is happening there ??
Att. TonyD ..... if it turns out to be the case then i'll hold my hands up but until then ...... getting the gantries sorted is the only plan of action that should be considered.
The whole "look, they just dont want to do it" thing just doesn't cut it to be honest.
its looking increasingly like they DONT want to do it

from the pats board - this should make all el fans very very angry:
"Nope, we got the safety cert off NIFSA (or something) but tv3 said they dont accept this even though they're the only safety organisation in the country who deal with that type of thing. IT cost afair few bob for to get the cert too so it seems to me like tv3 just dont give a fcuk anymore."

Listen folks- take it from me and what I know on this- it's not gonna return, at least in the same amount of coverage, ie a programme a week on TV3
I know people who were supplying pictures from DCFC and Harps at one stage and the safety has NOT been mentioned but guess what? MONEY HAS!!
Apparently, TV3 are in trouble financially?
I am gonna concentrate on keeping the pressure on RTE with the petition as well as a few other things. When the petition ends I will adjust where necessary(some silly remarks there that don't do any good at all), print it out and deliver to RTE in Dublin.
I will also send copies to TDs etc
Thanks

I know what they can do, buy Granada's schedule and use what's left over to concentrate on buying in poorly made sentimental american series and below par sit-coms, that'll bring in a load of advertising revenue....Quote:

Better still, all we have to do is persuade Granada to show the EL. Then hey presto! To be honest it would probably be as easy. A Face, I think those hands may be going up yet. As for conspiracy theories, remember, just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.Quote:
