Urge to quit watching football rising...rising

HonestlyI don't know how anyone can think that we can entice new fans to this ragtag league when we can't even tell possible converts when the league starts (oh in a couple of weeks ho hum).
People on this site are always quick to jump on the media's negative image of the league (sometimes rightly I will add) but there isn't any way to spin the shambles that is senior football in Ireland.
An inbred dog with half a face, talons for legs and a lower jaw that would reach a tree from ten feet that needs bringing out back for shooting is the analogy that comes to mind

All he asked was if you knew the full reasons for why ye didn't get a license higher then the an A Championship one. Noone is disputing that giving Cork a Premier license would be disgraceful

Fair enough, seems I took you up wrong. My point was though that there's no point complaining about not getting a license if you don't know the reason yet, so you don't know if the decisions was justified or not (and I see no reason why it wouldn't be).

Again, what does me being a UCD fan got to do with anything?

Today was the first time in over a year I'd say that I've commented on anything of this nature on this forum, don't know where you're getting always from or that me being a UCD fan has relevance to anything in my posts.

Cork must be punished. There is no way in hell they should be allowed into either the Premier Division or the 1st division. It should be a case of A championship or bust for them.

The FAI dumped Ramblers without a second thought and now they should show some character and do the same to Cork City.

Something I noticed this morning in coverage of this shambles, and something that was picked up upon a number of times - politics. Right now there is something odd happening and being Ireland there has to be a political angle. If Cobh could deliver 10,000 votes to FF then they'd be in the 1st Division.

How many FF votes will having Derry in there deliver?

Really can't see there being anything in this theory. There are certainly questions to be asked, but this seems like going way too far.

As a point of discussion on the above point...

The FAI have said that they can't make a decision on a licence knowing that that decision could cost the staff of Cork City FC wages they're owed. In this day and age, you could argue they have a point.

The reason they're put in that position is because Quintas/FORAS have made clear they'll only honour debts if they're given a Premier licence, even though they've no reason at all to make such a demand, it seems. It could be argued that effectively, Quintas/FORAS have used the unfortunate position of the Cork City staff to blackmail and bully the FAI into keeping Cork City in the Premier. Following on from that, you could argue that a lot of the vitriol is being misplaced.

Discuss.

(I think we can assume that if the takeover goes ahead and Cork don't get wound up on Monday, they'll be in the Premier).

(Also, on what grounds do Derry not qualify for a Premier licence?)

One other thing is just because you get a premier license does not necessarily mean you will be in the premier.

While I can't say for sure I'd imagine that Derry didn't apply for a premier licence.

Also doubt if the company would be in a position to submit audited accounts, and this would probably preclude them from a premier licence. Whether or not this equates to Cobh's position last year may be worth discussing.

If you have a new company, you have no prior year accounts to submit. Bit harsh to deny them a licence on that basis.

Did Cork submit audited accounts and if not will this preclude them from a premier licence?

If Cork do get a license, can clubs who have previously been fined and punished for much lesser indisrections get their money back and compensation for reputational damage?

Interesting point. Pats got fined 15k last year for a technical enough issue. Even if Cork do (miraculously) receive a premier licence, would they then be subject to FAI fines? Of course clubs can't sue the FAI so it remains to be seen how far anyone brings it

Thats what I mean. Pats had to pay that fine, either with cash or out of withheld money. No, if as you say Pats problem was technical and merited 15kl, what about a club that completely ignores licensing? Fine that club �100k? �200k.
