I don't think that is true, I think King will not play that much at all.
Ha!!:) Yeah!! Put in my place by your razor sharp wit!!!...
He was never going to rot in any reserves simply because had Robbie Keane chose to tackle it head on, he had the luxury of a weak squad in terms of depth to force his hand baring in mind Liverpool are in the two cups and the league. But he didn't. Players have stuck it to managers before with less clout than Keane had in this instance. He had hardly rotted in the reserves up to this point. He was no more humiliated by Benitez actions than Alonso, but he handled it differently.
Someone else said that. EB I think... Lets get that one straight. I care that Robbie Keane doesn't care that Liverpool didn't see the best of him. I care that Keane seems comfortable with the media applied tag as unlucky pawn when as much as he was f'cked over by Benitez, Keane clearly underperformed by his own standards.
Is it too much of a stretch to say that in a way it kind of plays back to the cop out when he blamed the media on the late late about Irelands woes. Is he happy with deflection? I'm disapointed in him....
Oh.. And I'll save you the trouble Morbo
As you've said elsewhere you are perfectly entitled to your opinion on Keane. I agree that he has underperformed but I do think he should have been given more time.
How do you know that Robbie feels comfortable with the media portrayal or that he doesn't care that Liverpool didn't see the best of him? Robbie hasn't said anything other than it was the wrong move for him and you're inferring an awful lot. Benitez said today that Robbie never caused a problem and was very professional.
And, on the Late Late Show thing, watch it again! Robbie said that the players took full responsibility for their performances. He said the media treatment was hard to take and didn't help but he repeated that the players took full responsibility for what happened on the pitch.
I have no problem with you having an opinion and you've expressed it very clearly but some real facts would help your argument instead of suggesting things that may or may not be true.
Harry Redknapp:
"I just felt with Robbie coming in … new face, new impetus ... he's going to be captain," said Redknapp. "He's buzzy and busy, and great around the dressing room. We're a quiet team and if Robbie's got something to say, he says it. He is a real leader and he has the personality to be a captain of Tottenham. He's going to give us an awful lot.
"I had a chat with Ledley this morning. He is still struggling, he's got a hamstring strain now and he won't play on Sunday. I also spoke to Jonathan Woodgate [the vice-captain] and he was fine. He said 'I'll still be the same, I still want to be a leader out there' and that's good.
"Robbie was delighted when I told him. I've always liked him, not only as a player but as a person. He's a terrific character and he's a great lad, too. I got to know him over the years through my son Jamie."
"99.9% of people at the club want him back."
Benitez on his great forward options:
"We have Dirk Kuyt, Ryan Babel and David N'Gog who can play as strikers"
League over
Haha don't mind if I do, it was a bit too easy wasn't it. I didn't really need to point out your unhealthy obsession with the guy but it could have been worse, I could have resorted to sarcasm, the lowest form of wit.
He may not have rotted in the reserves up to this point but his situation was rapidly deteriorating, he didn't even make the bench against Chelsea, N'Gog had leap frogged him in the pecking order and the fact that Benitez dropped him from the bench on the game before the transfer window closes sends a clear message to me that Benitez wanted him out so Keane may not have had much of a choice in the matter anyway. Like I said I think its too late in Keanes career for him to have to prove his worth to get a game and when your manager is playing guys like N'Gog ahead of you then its obvious he isn't being very objective in his evaluation of your abilities. What is the point in staying when even if you start to hit a bit of form like say scoring 3 goals in 2 games against Arsenal and Bolton you will be dropped for the next game anyway?
 How exactly do you know what Keane is thinking?
Amazing, how did you know that was what I was thinking, are these the same special powers that allow you to know what Robbie Keane is thinking?
He was in a position to make time for himself. I've said that a million times on this thread. If I didn't believe in Robbie Keane ability I wouldn't be citing that.
Facts!! Dude, are ye messing? I can list off every air hit as a fact. I can opine on poor performances. I can rattle off every time he was subbed early as facts and opine that Benitez was treating him unfairly in doing so. I can rattle off the three goal run againts Arsenal and Stoke, and the subsequent dropping???I think everyone that's posted on this thread is on the same page there. So what more facts do you want..... There's a bit of paper with his signature on it at WHL is fact of how Robbie Keane dealt with it all. It all boils down to what I said above.
Yeah! I suppose if he felt he wasn't in a position to convince Benitez he was better than Ngog he was right to leave... (Now that's sarcasm)
Eveyone's citing the 3 goals in 2 games. Yeah it is sh!t what happened him but it's not the first time that's happened in the premiership and it's certainly not the first time Benitez has done it. It's how it's dealt with.
Eh? Because he left??
Benitez surely knows already that Keane is better than Ngog, that's about as much credit as I'm gonna give him. He wanted rid of him that's pretty obvious.
Like Peter Crouch? no point in delaying the inevitable, Rafa has said that Keane found it difficult to fit into the system and in this case it's better that he leaves. So he did, simple as...
a sight at liverpool robbie will be glad to see the back of benitiz
making another subsitition Attachment 1275
He also mentioned Nabil El Zahar, Daniel Pacheco and even said he would play Youssi Benayoun as a support striker. Honestly, with the latter I really do think Benitez is clueless. Benayoun is so physically brittle he struggles as a wide midfielder, the chances of him suceeding as a support striker, against hurley burley Premier League defenders like Hangeland, Vidic, Woodgate, Laursen etc is absurd.
I think N'Gog could become a good player in about 2-3 years I think he's on a level with Pongolle when he was at Liverpool, on the way to becoming a good striker but needs more experience.
I've only seen a few Liverpool matches this season, but of the ones I saw (Everton at Anfield - twice, Bolton at the Reebok, Atletico Madrid away, PSV away) Keane looked decent enough, he scored a good goal in the Calderon admittedly he tried to do a back heel later on that went wrong, he set up a goal for N'Gog in Eindhoven with a great chipped through ball from almost the half way line. I certainly think that he has been on a par with Berbatov in terms of performances.
Personally I think a lot of the momentum about the move came about through Liverpool's current cash flow problems. It's a similar situation to Man City at the very start of the season when Shinawatra was failing and just before the Middle Easterners took over. They had a mini fire sale with the likes of Steven Ireland going to Sunderland (it was pulled at the last minute) and Ćorluka was snapped up by Spurs then in a similar situation (despite being City's best player last season and being very good for the Croats in the summer)...
I think Keane has the potential to score more goals for Spurs than in the past. Keane is a player who likes to made runs behind defence latching onto a through ball and I think a player like Modric in midfield suits Keane-if he can build up an understanding with him, they should combine well.
You also said that Benitez would pick him and then he was not in the squad and then you said he would not be leaving and he left. Maybe you should start questioning your judgement on this issue.
In fairness I wouldn't have expected the captaincy to be thrown at him just like that either. Especially when they already had a perfectly good vice captain in Woodgate. Gareth Barry wasn't just given the captaincy at Villa when his Pool deal feel through for example.
Great result for Benitez tonight :)
The sooner that man goes the sooner Liverpool are moving forward. The man is a joke. Driven on by sheer ruthlessness for power. That was what the whole Robbie Keane saga was about, Power. It wasn't Benitez that wanted him and that is the reason he wouldn't defend him at any opportunity or even give him the proper chance. Indeed we beat Chelski at the weekend, but by God you heard it here first, over the next 2-3 months that club is going to crumble and its all for the best. They need to build that once great club from scratch because it is full of wasters. Benitez the main man. I feel for Robbie. He got caught in a power stuggle and unfortunatly for all Liverpool fans and Keane Benitez won the battle, but he'll lose the war.
