Home to Glenthorn? Wasnt Johnny Cooney a Leeds man most of his life?

Mayfield united won’t have an AUL side, they’re junior msl side can’t get numbers most seasons why would they set up another team, especially with Village, the cow Jaybazz and ash there, we all have our feelings and opinions on the shipping league but there’s a lot to said for fellas just wanting to play with there buddies, most of mayfield senior team aren’t even from mayfield , most young fellas who came up through that schoolboys system want nothing to do with the club, look at the ringmahon side in the final recently, McAlavey and Kaka their two best players, want nothing to do with the club
Feck that's about an honest assessment fo a situation as iv ever read in here.
2 often than not lads throw grenades on here an walk away.
That actually hit the nail on its head .
Great post
The fella Keegan centre half for them is an exceptional player, played many years centre half at senior level, better than a lot of centre halves at premier level, they’re a decent side, they wouldn’t be going deep into the Munster and fai cups every other season if they weren’t all decent players at least
Agreed, they always seem to make it out of Cork every year and had a a unbelievable run in both junior cups in 2020. Their back four is very solid would walk into any Premier team imo, And I already mentioned the front four some firepower. Jamie Murphy played with Cobh Ramblers and Cork City sure ffs. As previously mentioned their a group of friends who just wanted to play ball together when Mayfield United didnt want them and they did. They've had the same squad for 10 years that's unheard really. If they do go and sign for Village they will bloster that team big time. Mayfield United must be kicking themselves with the talent they have let slip away. Rockmount have Jake Courtney, Mahon have Maca, Kaka, Chris Hull. Midelton had Dean O Connell. Avondale had Dave Kiely and Greg Kelly. Not to mention the Village lads. Absolutely crazy that none of them involved with the club
I heard rumour fella in work told me there that Castleview junior manager offered senior job if true fair play good manager and good player and servant to the club.
Good weekend of ball coming up fellas, every game with a cup or league on the line.
Mossie Final - Grattan v Coachford
Whichever side wins will be ending their season with a double and probably AUL team of the year on top of it. The Cross will probably suit Coachford a bit more and I can see them coming through this by a couple of goals.
Presidents Cup Final - Coachford B v Strand B
Don’t know too much about either side but it’s a testament to both clubs that their Bs are competing in a final. Looking at the league table you’d have to fancy Coachford.
Division 1 - Shandon v Watergrasshill
WGH coming off a very surprising result last weekend but have a chance to all but wrap up the league on Sunday morning and should get over Shandon.
Division 2 - Los Zarcos v Grattan B
A draw will be enough to clinch the league for Los Zarcos whereas a win for Grattan will take it to a playoff between the two. I think Los Zarcos will have too much pace on their home patch against an aging Grattan side.
Division 3 - Rathcormac v Kilbrittain
Rathcormac have a chance to make it two successful weekends on the trot as a win will clinch the league for them. Kilbrittain need at least a point to keep their own promotion hopes alive.
I’ll probably head to the two games in the Cross myself. Is anybody else on here heading elsewhere?
Coachford watergrasshill los zarcos if players not gone to cork game haha and Rathcormac coachford B my predictions for weekend think Coachford will have to much out in cross for Grattan but we’ll give it ago and enjoy the day.
No Joe I’m being honest now watched Coachford in Aoh final thought they were 100 times better on big pitch than they were last league game above in Grattan kills me to say
Be a good game.
O'Sullivans of Coachford their main attacking threat while Bullman of Grattan could roll any defender.
It's all living up to be a fantastic weekend for both clubs
As much of a head case as he is John's a quality footballer. I think he's won everything in the AUL, multiple times in some cases. He should have went senior years ago as he had the talent but not the attitude. Similar to Vinny Lonergan, 2 players with a god given talent that should still be at the highest level. I know Vinny won a bit early in his MSL career but should have more.
Both sides have class players.
Be brilliant to see the starting line up even now.
Hasn't been a buzz about a final like this in a long time , hope there's a big crowd.
Games being streamed live by Grattan which is a brilliant gesture.
The Aul needs a massive final an these 2 teams will bring it big time.
I think there's too much made of the so called Grattan legs thing.
Lots of just bitterness.
Be better off just wishing both teams well letting the battle commence.
Agree Jason anytime I watch grattan they seem to outwork the other time they don’t give fellas a second on the ball, the big pitch may favour coachford but grattan will work like dogs, any injuries for either side that we know of?
Hopefully bothsides are at full strength.
Both sides have attacking full backs and strong wingers.
Good keepers an centerhalfs.
Both teams have pace out wide.
Butt Bullman is on fire . Game winner me thinks.
I seen them a lot the last 10 years. Also I wouldn’t class the Business League as junior .
Munster Senior League is Senior
AUL and Munster Junior League is Junior
Business League is Novice at best .
They are after getting more walkovers it’s scary. Keegan was a fine player the keeper Murphy is very good . Jamie and Cotter good players but Jamie is the only one that could play AUL Premier now. The rest are Div 1 or Div 2 players.
I was told too by a fella in work that Jamie is going to village.
Coachford well better on the day fair play to them gratten team was weird no jp sull starting was a shock, coachford team of the year but to be fair they got two easy finals
Once again I proved I know it all Aulstar told ye big pitch would kill grattan and not playing football doesn’t help either dont understand their plan when they play everything is long ball it will work on the rubbish pitch in kilmore rd but today they were battered brilliant performance from coachford but best teams win leagues and as I said they are best team in northside even ahead of knocka now haha.
Who exactly will finish ahead of them for the top 3 next year? Because UCC and Springfield certainly won’t, coachford probably will, village the jury is out, there’s still some poor players in their 11, castleview will be a wildcard but we don’t know how they’ll handle the premier they could be as strong as people think or they might have been a big fish in a small pond. Donoghmore, I’ll be honest I haven’t seen them play so I can’t comment, Grangevale gone, wanderers and Corkbeg won’t finish above them in a million years either. JP Sull hasn’t started many games for them this year I think he’s in a sort of semi retirement
Ya Jp on the way out think coachford will dominate next year village could be wild card Castleview might do all right if there senior play apart from that don’t see anyone harming Coach go young squad there.
Coachford do it again and again best team I’ve seen in the aul in years well deserved
Apologies for the double post lads I don’t know what happened there
My son my son.....
Big pitch suited the faster sharper Coachford boys . Also played a lot more football than Grattan who just hoofed everything long. Didn't have the legs and runners to trouble Coachford really. Need to get a few young lads in pronto.
Coachfords fitness is too much for anyone in the AUL and that counts for awful lot on a big pitch like today. Saying that grattan did look very leggy. Wonder did the celebrations for the league win drag on a bit too long?
Agreed Latte , wasn’t the same hunger shown above in O Neill park last Wednesday when the league was already wrapped up , maybe it’s a leveller against the likes of Coachford but I was surprised that they didn’t land a few more punches on Coachford today , was very straight forward for them. Team of the year surely wrapped up for them.
You won’t land punches if you don’t try play football looking at that display today from Grattan and it’s sad to say it was like kick the ball long and chase it didn’t string anything together love to know what their plan was cause it could of been 8 1 at full time in my opinion.
Tell ya the standard in aul the cross is a different story shows who's who and the cross would suit coachford all day long grattan pitch is absolutely terrible and there hard beat there because of it can't play ball on it..so I think the got lucky with the league ..coachford be eating themselves the didn't play start the season and played gaa instead but still a double with the mossy and aoh fearplay to them
To go a full league season unbeaten isn't luck.
They were poor and well beaten yesterday...callin them lucky when went unbeaten in league, including beating coachford away a bit of a stretch!
Personally I think a bad day at the office and maybe celebrations were heavy after winning league.
Winning league isn't down to all luck at all, Grattan outlasted everyone.
Who....Coachford would have been well out of league action if they played games. They lost their first one, got AUL to stop playing league games and paid off their manager to leave to get the players back on side. Worked out well as always, double champs. Same again next year, 2 or 3 trophies again be expected.
Tbf it was a good year I know we had our ups and down but the cream rises to the top all the time maybe paying managers does work grattan won league coachford won Aoh mossy before we go again next year well done to all teams and management how ye do it is beyond me well done to Rathcormac doing double watergrasshill doing double coachford doing double and mighty Gratts winning the most important one the Premier.
Was at the game yesterday… As far as I was told Coachford manager isint paid. Is Grattans? I don’t see the problem with it anyways. Once there is a cup or cups there at the end of the season. Was very one sided yesterday but don’t take away from Grattan. Been Coachfords only thorn the past few years could be like the Cow in Business league otherwise. Grattan have been the only team to keep up with Coachford for years and that in itself is a credit to keep taking them on year in and out and this year they got their reward winning the league. Grattan have represented themselves very well all year and thankfully have something to show for it.
The manager hat came in at start of season was paid very well, you'd like to think the man in charge now winning the lot regular is treated better.
