I think they said around 2750 in RSC tonight?
Yeah 2728 was attendance as per extra time. Biggest crowd for a competitive match for a while at RSC.
Twas nice to see a large turnout last night, just reminded me of what the Premier league could be like.. The Dundalk supporters made it very enjoyable too.
What was with the TV Tower being built infront of the new stand.. half the stand couldn't see a feckin thing!
About 3200 I would have said last night, definitely more that the 2700 that was given imo.
That, of course, is quite true. Dundalk deserved their win.
However, what the FAI can do something about is the ****ing appalling state of the league.
Irrespective of who won last night, nothing was going to change that. One of two proper football clubs were going to be stuck down in a joke of a division that the FAI are directly responsible for screwing up. Teams pull out of the premier and who pays the penalty? The first division, naturally.
Only in an ideal world.
It's like saying the crowd at the cup final will show the potential of Derry and Pats.
How are the FAI trying to stifle Waterford??Quote:
It's a pity that rather than nurturing it, the FAI are trying to stifle it.
Explain
Yes, yes I am.
If you don't want to define a proper football club and blame the big bogeyman for everything that's fine, I have to pop out for a few hours anyway. :good:
Ah, I love the "LOI family". I know of no-one who doesn't think the league is mismanaged to the detriment of most all clubs, and certainly the ever dwindling First Division. But, a petty and rather artificial enmity means that LTID would prefer to paint me as blaming the "big bogeyman for everything". Sigh. I keep coming back on here for a blather about the football, and within a few hours I remember why I don't bother.
Everything in Limerick is rosy gormach. Sod the rest.
Did Tommy Dunne tell you that too? Of course EVERYTHING isn't rosy. Our audacious bid to go for a Tevez/Ibrahimovic strike force next season looks doomed to failure for starters. Crucially though, we don't think that this is the fault of the FAI (and we've actually got direct reasons to dislike them).
Back on the topic of attendances it might be interesting to keep track of which team has the biggest "away" attendances. I don't mean in terms of travelling support but the actual attendance at their away matches.
I remember reading a programme article by UCD fan Declan Hughes, where he argued that although UCD don't have a large following that when they went away from home there wasn't any significant drop in the home side's gate.
Obviously the Dublin clubs would feature more prominently as Dublin derbies attract bigger crowds than say a match v Derry but would the visit of Bohs to Dundalk bring out more than the visit of Limerick?
I'm challenging Dodge and Pineapple for chief anorak around here so maybe this would be of no interest at all.
