What’s the story with Clarke this year? Seems to have had a very big drop off in performances compared to last year. To the point that he’s even struggled to nail down a spot in the starting 11 since Tierney and Devoy have returned. He hasn't been as consistent, simple as that really. McDonnell has probably been our best player this season week in, week out and after bringing back Devoy and Tierney you have to play them. Clarke is the odd man out in that situation, although Reynolds has tried him as a striker recently and it's works alright in some games and not so well in others. I'm also a bit surprised he signed a new deal but if we want to improve next season we need some quality squad depth.

On a week to week basis he's probably never our best player on the pitch but he does so much dirty work in terms of tracking back, tackling, going box to box for the full 90 that his performances are never below a 6-6.5 out of 10.
