Actually, this is a potentially good thing?
Takes the pressure off discussion about the imminent minnows who we should be humping and then receiving similar from the World Champs...
And it actually reminds the public that football exists and from time to time an Irishman is a key protagonist. If it wasn't for Keane all the media chat would be about not having any decent players, Grealish, Stephen Ireland and any other disruptive nonsense they can think of.
Press conferences have been devoted to it and it seems Martin and the players are being asked for their thoughts on it when approached by reporters. Maybe it's not so much of a big deal and they can all remain fully-focused (or perhaps it even takes some of the spotlight and pressure off, as AB says), but I suspect it's the type of distraction for which Roy would have very little time if it were centred around another member of staff or one of his players.
Even James McClean has revealed he's just started penning his own memoirs (book of tweets) now!: http://www.irishexaminer.com/sport/s...ll-290514.html

I won't believe it until I've heard it from the horse's mouth, straight out the driver window of his 4x4 in the QPR carpark!Quote:

Ack, I like him. He's a solid worker and puts his head down. He can brash and outspoken, sure, but it makes a colourful change from the utterly neutral, robotic and personality-less James Milner types who peddle nothing but the same old hackneyed platitudes and clichés. He's a local lad too, which, of course, helps. But just so you don't think I'm completely biased due to that, I'm not as keen on Gibson's attitude. :)
This week, I've been in complete awe of Roy's beard (maybe even more so than anything the scorching book revelations could stir within me), but here's what the ladies think...

Enjoying it so far. Probably a quarter of the way through. Just got to the bit where Fergie and himself having their big 'fall out'.
Has some nice things to say about Brian Kerr.
Well written (no surprises with Doyle's involvement). I contrast this with the Neville book I recently read which was dross.
We have two matches to play between now and next week. I open a paper to read about them and this is all I see:
There is something wrong here.

The following quote is from Roy's book: "If training starts at half past ten and a player is coming in at twenty past ten I would class that as being late."
Didn't he only go and show up late for his press conference earlier?
The sad thing is that Mick McCarthy was more important to Roy than Ireland. That is something to regret.
If it's any consolation, the feeling was never mutual .
D'oh ;)
