Sligo Starlets 4 - 1 Workington AFC
Burton Albion FC 4 - 0 Looprevil FC
Sligo Superstars 4 - 1 Badger Gravy
FC Rovers of Sligo 0 - 2 UCD AFC
Finn Harps FC 0 - 3 Patsys Fags
Good start for me. Happy with a clean sheet. Those who I feel are in contention for promotion all won so it'll be an interesting season. A few teams could be just cannon fodder for the season for the top half teams due to the lack of activity on the managers' part. Each team that won won convincingly
I'm back active after an illness so I'm hoping the 5-1 drubbing was down to that. not the best way to start the season but hey what can one do
No better way of taking your annoyance out than on Pants AFC next, BGR.... :) :)
(hope all is ok)
Well that's what I went for in the Pools anyway...you owe us a(nother) hammering though..
UCD 9-0 Workington....feckin NINE. Midfielder got 6 of them
UCD AFC 9-0 Workington AFC
Patsys Fags 3-1 Fc Rovers of Sligo
Sligo Superstars 0-4 Burton Albion
Finn Harps 0-0 Badger Gravy
Looprevil 0-4 Sligo Starlets;)
Flynny Alberts - Sligo Rovers F.C. 5 - 2
Loftys Lazy 11 - Provisional SRFC 1 - 3
Cobh Ramblers F.C - Drunk Babysitters 1 - 1
Pants AFC - Club 18-30 3 - 2
Wexford Boys - Landenstown Forest 1 - 0
I would say we squeeked past, but it was more comfortable than the scoreline suggests. But thats another player out injured, Olausson. Strikers seriously under performing. Form in general aint too great. Loftys have a real chance.
BTW I'm disgusted for you Lofty, completely and utterly sucker punched in injury time by the Provos.
For seasons and seasons we got hardly a corner at the lazywell (I remember the 5-0 defeats), now we're costing ourselves 750,000 in the pools with late winners:)
Is Nord a moody keeper, lofty?
I've won my fair share over the seasons like that, so it's a case of taking my oil! I'm enjoying the relegation scraps, much more interesting going in as underdog now. Looking forward to the derby, need a win more than ever.
He's moody alright but I haven't really noticed it much in his appearances to date .Need to get a keeper in badly if he keeps that malarkey up. He was out injured for about 3 matches and has the form of 0 on his return. Still has a big x through his average form!! Could've played my 3 skilled 18 year old but he's getting sacked when I make a purchase.
Quite happy with draw! Gives me something to build on for sligo
Wome is becoming an official liability, but his form, skill and age is in his favour...
So ****ed off with tonight's result:mad:
Super rams! S***performance and still beat them! Yahoo!
The First Division is so boring.:(
Club 18-30 3-3 Sligo Rovers F.C.
Flynny Alberts 5-1 Loftys Lazy 11
Drunk Babysitters 0-3 Provisional SRFC
Landenstown Forest 5-0 Cobh Ramblers F.C
Pants AFC 0-2 Wexford Boys

Finally off the mark, although I feel I should have 6 points at this stage, not 1:o.
My team are falling apart. Good win for Wexford, but if Flynnys hand them a hammering next week this could well become the most boring season ever - if Wexford win it'll be very interesting.
Question. My keeper, 7 rated, upward FT, form 14 - match rating of 6 while Wexfords keeper played while injured and got a 10 rating. My two forwards went into the match with green arrows and medium form and yet both performed below their skill level
I think they call that a backlash. :D
Spectacular win at a difficult ground backed up by Wexford Boys' win too
cant believe that robbed of my first win by a 95th minute equaliser, and I've lost Jansson for 3 weeks
I'm far more concerned with being 9 points clear of relegation, than with my 100% record so far. I'd be amazed if I even got a draw next game, wouldn't be surprised to take a hammering and see my form plummet and end up in the relegation scrap I expected.
Stuffed again by the bearded named one. My squad isn't strong enough, once I got a player injured the floodgates opened. :(
It's now impossible to develop youth players with having just a league campaign. Ive tried to develop some players but at a cost of battling for relegation. Is it a pointless task?
held 1-1 to badger effin gravy...ffs:(
Firstly, Wexford's keeper been injured wouldn't have effected his performance- just made it very likely that he would get a serious injury.
Can't understand your keeper playing like that unless he's moody. Forwards must have just missed the chances they got. Does seem a bit strange.
Is he moody? What form was he? Let in 3/5 chances so that's probably the reason.
Actually, was either of your keepers leader but not captain?
Last two seasons I just went for the player development. Avoided relegation by goal difference and then got relegated. If you're willing to spend a decent amount of money on form training then just go for it. Being honest I don't think you're going to challenge for the league this season so you might as well just bite the bullet and take the chance. If you do get relegated in two seasons time you should have a squad that can challenge (that was my plan anyway).
If I were you I'm make sure that your three youngest midfielders and two youngest strikers have average form of at least 15. Other players should get to 100% as they are evenly matched so will get their chance.
I would buy a 17yo 4 skill keeper (or 18yo 5 if you can afford) and sack your crap one. Sell one of your 28yo 7 skill defenders and buy an 18yo 5 skill. I'd sell your young striker with goal instincts and look for a replacement through the youth system.
Only go for the youth option though if your willing to spend the money on training and take a chance in some of your games. 3/4 games should get the young players up to 100%.
I think we were just clinical on the day and 10 of our players played very well - notably Valentia for the first time in ages. I wouldn't be worried by it, lucanhoop87.
I'd say the first division could be done away with. There's no difference between the bottom of a one division league to the first division. The couple of seasons with one league a few seasons back helped us get the likes of Piquet, Nardini, O'Leary and Breen to some sort of competition.
We all know the Blue bearded one will win it regardless too:o
Is it better than dead rubber matches in the first division though? I'd get rid of the four least active - Looprevil, Workington (:(), Badger Gravy and Sligo Superstars, whose line-ups are all over the place. At full strength, most Premier sides should be looking to walk blindfolded through the first division.
16 team league. Same as the previous ones. No pressure on the bottom sides to survive, just to be more competitive. We were 10th for the most of one season in transition...two seasons later we won the league.
If we had people taking on the reigns of the Div 1 teams and taking them seriously, it could be quite a good league. At the mo, some managerless clubs are falling apart. Looprevil cantered to promotion then the famous milzbeast disappeared (fair enough, we aren't chained here) and they collapsed spectacularly. Toyota Starlets (too many teams called Sligo here in my opinion) were a newly set up team and managed two seasons in the top through prudence and will likely be in the hunt for promotion to the death of the season in an extremely competitive top four in Div 1. Badger Gravy seem to be on hols, but when Louth4Sam gets back, they'll be a tough prospect. Similarly, if and when Booboy and EAFC get their bearings, they should really fly it.
We also must not forget that there was a similar problem in the old 16 team league, where some teams were managerless. I arrived in to a Flynny's knees rooted to the bottom of the table, and had a big challenge to pull them up the ranks, so I had a reason to be active. If you are struggling along always about 12th out of a 16 team league, with nothing to play for, it is less exciting and therefore less of an incentive to keep logging in. Miss two weeks and all of a sudden, you forget about it, if nothing much has changed.
And bear in mind, without a second tier, there'll be nothing that Sligoman has the slightest chance of winning, even if it still is only a very slight chance;)
Will new managers who take them on ever get out of the first division though if the likes of lofty's lazy lot, UCD, Patsy's Fags or Drunken Babysitters get relegated? Burton Albion are still stuck there. There's a big gap between the Premier and first division for new managers to overcome and stay enthusiastic...and when they do come up, they'll be annihilated first off. Can you imagine what the bearded one would do to Finn Harps?
I'd agree if you're midtable season after season, you'd lose interest, but you're much more likely to head backwards with the current set up from a mid-table finish. Based on recent seasons, Provos, Alberts and Pants have probably have the top three and sligoman will have one of the relegation berths booked beforehand.
So slight a chance, that it's widely considered negligible in fact;)
Possibly something like this
Bit less Finn Harps bashing there please. What difference does the standard of the 1st division make to teams at the top of the premier anyway? I'm happy enough having only joined to start out in a 2nd tier and get a feel for the game. If there was only one division I don't think it would have appealed to me (or any other new user) nearly as much. I also think there are too many teams with sligo in there name!!:D
I Agree the First Division was great for me last year. gave me a chance to win something for the first time since I started playing the game. also gave me the opportunity to build a primera div quality side before promotion.Having said that if Div is done away with I'll be forever reigning champions:D
I am now planning for next season in the first. An active youth policy is now my priority.
The last time I was there I got promoted as Champions and went onto win the big league straight away:).
IM sure you get this all the time but how can i join????
