Obviously the results have been far, far from ideal thus far but ultimately Kenny was given a 5 year deal with the view being a longer term one. Europe would have been the aim but realistically I think he'll only get properly judged from next year, barring us ending up in serious relegation danger this season.
Keena seemed to have an encouraging start over at Cheltenham and had a record of more or less a goal/assist every other game, was only last season he really struggled but League One is a better standard than this league anyway so don't think it's necessarily reflective of how he'll perform. Not getting carried away because we're making more and more of a habit of having "big" signings flatter to deceive, but on paper it's a great move.
Pat's on paper now looking considerably stronger than they did a month ago, few lads back from injury included. Could yet come 8th or 4th and reach the Conference League playoff. Would definitely only really start judging Kenny from now on now that he's had a handful of signings, waiting until next season is probably a bit too charitable :D

I meant more so in terms of how Kelleher may approach it and his job being under any kind of scrutiny as was being discussed above. I feel like if we have a relatively tepid finish to the season and end up in 6th/7th it's not going to be seen as some kind of disaster and more that the real judgment will be from the start of next year with a full pre-season, squad build etc behind him. I said it a year back that with this Rovers team nearing an end, it would have been the time to 'go-all in'. With a relatively weak Shels team or a Derry team with no guts, winning the league, I feel this is what we are now seeing from Bohs and Pats.

And you could similarly argue that one country was silly enough to show far too much patience in him. He has plenty of time at Pat's to do his thing anyway,unless Kelleher decides otherwise.
Tbf to Kenny, every setback or failure he's had as a manager he has gone on to make a success of his next job, that's a very solid track record. He's managed 5 clubs here over 3 decades and only Rovers fans are generally giving out about what happened. What O' Neill did was a very tough act to follow tbf and they probably should have given him more time, but that's also a job that was a long time ago, and I'm not a Rovers fan so I don't know the ins and outs, the vibes seemed off from the start there.
Both the success of the u21's and failures of the senior international team probably don't really reflect what he can do with a LOI club, it's very different managing and improving lads who are at crossroads in their careers day to day, and building a culture, vs trying to do what you can every couple of months with whoever is available at any given international squad.
Maybe some connections from the U21 days will pay off, like with being able to bring in Elbouzedi tbf, but otherwise with most managers I tend to separate their club and international records, especially in this case where he's done so much in our very small pond.
I think his start at Pat's has been terrible, the Derry performance was as much a joke as the Vaduz result is excellent, but I would be very confident of him building something great at Pat's and then probably already challenging for the title next season, we've seen this movie before. It's not like he's in his 70's and hasn't been keeping tabs on football

Between that and the money for Promise's move Bohs could launch a bid to bring Georgie Kelly back in the next window :D. Yeah my understanding is that free agents can sign anytime it's only transfers between clubs that need to take place during the window. If Maguire is on the way back I hope Bohs are knocking down his door but based on the last interview he gave I think he will want to stay in the UK.
