I know, but i see no reason for that to be an issue. He's a good journalist, and Souness is a former Scotland player which hasn't stopped him doing a good job on the panel. theres an arguement that as the effective chairman him being neutral is a good thing, and at the end of the day you can't say 'northern Ireland' without saying 'Ireland'
Maybe. Though i would have thought that would have to be with Setanta or Sky. I very much doubt BBC nI could afford him.
Its a poisened chalice mind you. If you can't follow Jackie you'll be hounded :)
Vintage Jimmy Magee today commentating on a James Beattie penalty. Beattie places the ball, turns around (´I dont like to see players turn their backs to the goal before taking a penalty´, warns a concerned Magee) and smashes it into the top left corner of the net. ´Straight down the middle!!!!´ declares Jimmy emphatically.
When the replay clearly shows Magee the trajectory of the ball from penalty spot to top corner, he tries to defend himself by reiterating (wildly and unbelievably); ´Straight down the middle..... and then into the corner´! Classic.
to be fair, Jimmy's probably been on drugs for a while now...
Johnny Giles: the man who has critised every Irish manager since he was manager when dinosaurs ruled the earth:
Johnny Giles 1973-1980 P37 W14 D9 L14
His bete noir, Jack Charlton, lost 17 out of 94 games.
Brian Kerr, incidentally, only lost 4 out of 32! Amazing record but didn't qualify us for anything.

Have you read any of the Ross O'Carroll Kelly books Owls Fan? Total genius, loike roysh.
Before I went to UCD I didn't even know that accent existed.
You missed the 'z' that mixes with the 'd' at the start of dope though!
As in 'Ye bleeding zzzdope!!!'. Or is it 'Ye bleeding dzzzope!'?
On topic the panel were in flying form last night, Giles had me in stitches at one stage, Bill then made a comment which nobody had a clue what he meant by and Souness was once again cut off by evertyone on numerous occasions, classic stuff!
Redknapp needs to lose his pretty boy image to be taken seriously. He doesn't actually state the obvious all the time. I suspect you prefer the ugly as two slapped ar-ses type of pundit who will say the first controversial thing that comes in to his head, with a front man buffoon who will laugh at any joke he makes, but I may be wrong :p.
Ah come off it, redknapp is easily the worst pundit out there - surely:(
No, this is the worst one:

Haughton, Lawrenson, Macari, Townsend, Cascarino, Toshack, Dunphy, Dolan, Alan Smith and I think Roddy Collins deserves to be mentioned also.
If you really are looking for a Mr State the F******* obvious then look no further than Andy Gray.
Has Graeme Souness left RTE? Curious, I have not seen him in a while
I thought Billo's production company runs the shows and he decides who is on and who isnt. Nothing to do with RTE.
I don't think this is the case. News and live sport are among the very few television programmes that RTE continue to produce in-house. This is why people like Vile Mutant continue to have senior positions in the RTE sports department (as brilliantly parodied by Apres Match during Euro 2008).

That so made me laugh. I enjoy Souness on RTE but maybe he ****ed off Dunphy after the last argument. Just to add I'm hoping someone will pick up Martin O'Neil for the WC, loved it when he was on BBC
