Oviously. That's why Murphy, Potter and Keogh are in the squad. Because it meant nothing.

7pm kick off, sky sports starts the show at 6.55pm. Lots of build up then!
Yes POS, we really need a player or two to come through in that position.
Henderson,
Carr, O'Shea, Dunne, Kelly
Finnan, Kilbane. Reid, Hunt,
Doyle, Keane.
Good or bad...
I would like to have seen Potter start.
please God do not put Finnan at RM just so we can accomodate Carr.
I think you are over-reacting slightly. The purpose of the US tour would seem to have been to see if he fringe players are capable of the step up to the international squad, and evaluating what players should be used as back up to the squad should there be an injury crisis or whatever.
This friendly should be and would seem tobe about fine-tuning the squad for the eastern games in Sept. In that respect O'Halloran should be nowhere near the squad on the basis that he hasn't featured at all for Villa since the start of the season, whereas, forgive me if I'm wrong here, the likes of Murphy, Stokes, Potter and Keogh are.
Jaysus! I can't understand that team at all. I mean surely there is nothing new to be learnt from having the two rb's playing together on the right. What it says to me is that he doesn't trust anyone to play right midfield. Not elliot anyway.
Kelly at left back is definitely worth a shot, as he is playing there for the Brum's and could be in line to play in Sept, but the pairing of Killer and Reid is a disaster I think.
The positive is that he sees the Keane Doyle partnership as being #1, and isn't going to start messing around with Doyle on the right.
Does anyone have the revised squad available at all please?
20 Players Travelled
Republic of Ireland Squad:
Nick Colgan - Barnsley
Colin Doyle - Birmingham City
Wayne Henderson - Preston North End
Stephen Carr - Newcastle United
Richard Dunne - Manchester City

Alan O'Brien - Hibernian
Darren Potter - Wolverhampton Wanderers

With the above team it would leave a bench of
Colgan
Doyle
McGeady
O'Brien
Potter
Gibson
Keogh
Long
Murphy
I don't think it's to accomodate Carr- I think Stan has picked that combination on the right to prepare for the upcoming qualifiers, so it looks like a cautious approach will be used.:(
Only change I'd like to see in that team would be McGeady in for Carr. Hopefully Potter will get a run out at some stage too.
right,
From that squad I'd have gone with this myyself.
Doyle
Finnan
O'shea
Dunne
Kelly
Kilbane
Reid
Potter
Keane
Murphy
Doyle.

I like the idea of going 4-3-2-1 (the Christmas tree variety), think it allows us to put a holding midfield player in front of the back 4 (which we'll need against Rosicky and most of the German midfield) and the 2 front lads helping out the lone striker, we always struggle to string passes together upfront away from home so if we have more options might more more likely that Robbie or Hunt can slip something through to Doyle.
Of course it leaves us very susceptible down the flanks if we are caught in possession.
Take Robbie off at HT (unless he's playing brilliantly) and stick Hunt in the hole behind Doyle and see if their partnership can take off. Definitely want to see Gibson as well - after all the bloody discussions I want to see what all the fuss is about!
Henderson in goals:confused:
Team hasnt even been announced yet and Finnan is out according to 6 o clock sports news on Newstalk.
Team is picked according to Sky Sports news.
Potter is selected., KK on the bench
Finnan and Carr at Full back
Henderson
Carr Josh Dunne Finnan
McGeady Reid Potter Hunt
Doyle Keane
Kevin McDonald is doing the pre match interview on Sky.
Fair enough, he is a good rapid intelligent talker and says very nice stuff about Stan coming.
Frazier on the team "I see Darren Porter is picked"
It seems to only on TVU which is where the above link by Dman leads to
however I think the quality my not be very good so I am not sure if it will
be usuable or not, it might be a bit stop start. However I have a picture now,
but it keeps stopping.
If you do get a picture it will be Danish commentary, however you an get the Irish radio commentary from RTE and play it in Real Player which enables you to pause it so you can syncronise the two. However the TVU signal seems very poor at the moment (and will probaly get worse?)
my picture keeps stopping too.
anybody know any where else?
One nil Ireland!
At last the game wakes up
Sweet move, Reid gives a lovely through ball to Robbie,
nicely taken goal.
2 nil!!
2-0 Keane again
now I have seen it all, a diving header by Robbie Keane
2-0
This will surley help his confidence going into the two games in September..... On to paddy power to see odds on Robbie to score in those games!! Come on Ireland!
Andy Reid is a class act. Get him out of the Championship, quick!
Gibson coming on for the second half :D
