Off the mark for the season, opening the scoring in Birmingham's win over Huddersfield: https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62342929
A hat trick away to West Brom tonight; five for the season now.
Lot of food for thought up front to be honest.
He'll make the squad tomorrow but don't think Kenny would see him as a starter unless others are injured.
When did we last have a hat-trick scorer at PL or Championship level (or even L1/L2)? Idah in the cup is all that's coming to mind as anything close in recent times. Just curious.
Slightly surprised to see Will Keane didn't score one last season in his haul of 28 goals.
Got his sixth of the season too.
Johnny Walters scored a hat trick back in 2015, a perfect hat trick too. We've probably been lucky to have players scoring goals at the top level since then nevermind getting a hat trick. Robbie Keane and Leon Best the other two players to score a hat trick at PL level.
Ah Leon Best. So much potential
Is there a list of Irish hat-trick premiership scorers?
there's this list on wikipedia, sort it by Nationality

Scores again to make it seven.
Having a good season is scott. Still don't think he has had an opportunity to get to grips with international football in a team that doesn't function well, never mind functioning in a way that optimises his output. Be good for him to get a goal or two for ireland in this period though. He has been a willing contributor..
Had a great chance late on against Armenia, and put it just wide of the far post.
Unfortunately for him Obafemi has come in and scored goals probably only he could dream about. Hogan is a penalty box striker and playing with a front two as we do now would suit him best but probably doesn't offer enough outside the box to get a start.
Don't think Kenny would go with a front two of Hogan and Obafemi, even in a game like Malta or Gibraltar. Might be worth it in a way though to chance them together for Malta. Won't need three work horse midfielders against a Malta and should chance a 3-4-1-2.
Obafemi looked better than Parrott anyway in September at dropping off for the ball so why not partner him with a striker who'll play on the shoulders of the defenders and we've seen that he can play good passes for a striker to attack.
4-5-1
With Obefemi at 10 and Hogan at 9 would work. Away to big teams in particular
Scores his 8th league goal of the season.
Interesting to compare the Irish scorers in the Championship this season -
8 - Hogan
7 - Keane (who has also scored today)
5 - Ogbene
3 - Kelly, Obafemi, Szmodmics
2 - Christie, Manning, O'Shea, O'Dowda, Robinson
1 - Cunningham, Dunne, Hamilton, Hendrick, Long, McClean, Omabamidele, Parrott, Smallbone
Some unusual placings there
Would have Obafemi and Ogbene start the first game and give each of Keane and Hogan a half each with Obafemi against Malta.
Wouldn't be surprised if Obafemi asks to be used sparingly in friendlies, if at all, so good chance to give Hogan and Keane some more time
Scores again, that's his 9th in the league.
Takes him joint top of the Championship top scorers.
Neither Okoflex or Obafemi started that game & Connolly is whittling things out of sticks somewhere, grumbling bitterly.
Good time for us for Hogan to hit one of his rich streaks, if it can last another short while.
Yeah it's a pity he can never hit that purple patch before an important international window. Last season he scored ten goals in 36 games and with the form he's shown could level that tally tonight after 20 games.
His highest scoring season was 15 goals in 16/17. Scored 14 in 25 games for Brentford before moving to Villa in January. If you were to go on calendar season he scored 20 goals in 2016 for Brentford when he scored 7 in 7 at the end of 15/16 after missing the rest of the season through injury.
Missed a penalty v Wigan today. Will Keane came on as a halftime sub for Wigan. Both in poor form lately - 1 goal apiece since Christmas. Disappointing given how well they were doing before injuries in November. The arguments for and against them in the senior setup are well trodden at v this stage, but they're not doing much to push themselves into consideration for Latvia/France unfortunately
Alan Nixon (The Sun) reporting that Sheffield Wednesday are interested in signing Hogan from Birmingham. According to Transfermakt, Hogan has scored 67 and made 11 assists in 249 Championship appearances. In the first 11 games of this season, Hogan scored one of Birmingham's 14 goals; the team accumulated 18 points. He played 70 mins of Wayne Rooney's first game in charge (21 October). In the 8 Championship games since then, Hogan has always been in the squad, but played a total of 67 minutes - without scoring. The team has accumulated 5 points.
Is this guy still going, hopefully never see him near an Ireland squad again.
Hogan played 70 mins away to Middlesbrough on 25 October, but only 76 minutes in all games since then. Following Wayne Rooney's departure, Hogan - and Kevin Long - start at home to Swansea.
Got an assist against Swansea
New manager Mowbray thinks he can get something out of Hogan through positive, as opposed to negative, reinforcement.
Tony Mowbray details Scott Hogan heart-to-heart that led to Birmingham City lifeline - Birmingham Live (birminghammail.co.uk)
One of 15 players released by Birmingham after relegation. Only one league goal this season after hitting double figures the last two years - and that goal back in August too. Just gone 32, but may well struggle to pick up a new Championship contract.
Joined MK Dons (EFL 2) on 4 October. Now 32, Hogan made his first start since February and scored in the away win at Morecambe.
big drop for him down to league 2. Surely he could pay League 1 at least
