Something very strange about that Argentina U23 side. Googled a few of their players and they're all playing in regional leagues. Is it an amateur u23 side?
Really looks like the organisers are advertising sides the way we would if we brought them over for friendlies. Rovers are the only legit side in the competition. It's a great trip for Rovers for teambuilding and bonding but their competition over there doesn't seem like it's up to much.
I'm told that Athlone tried to force the LSC game v Wexford Youths away from next Saturday in favour of the friendly v Longford, but that it is going ahead. Any confirmation?
Youths have had it down for ages. I'm told Matthews wanted it switched to the Monday but we refused. Got that straight from our Club Secretary. Athlone & Longford both have the friendly on their websites, that's why it was raised
Yeh as far as i was aware its Longford we play. Athlone haven't mentioned anything about the LSC date yet. Id rather play the lsc game to be honest.
Well, I'm told it's happening
Can't understand people sometimes. This is something any other League of Ireland team would bite the hand off you for an all-expenses paid pre-season trip to India to play a tournament, regardless of opposition.
Pats beat Cabo 1-0 on Friday night, not a great game.
Loads of the Pats new lads playing.
The 2 Dennehys,
Barker
Cawley
Timlin
McGlade
Kelly
Corcoran
Corcoran scored the goal, Barker and Cawley the most impressive of the new lads.
No sign of Eddie Gormley on the Cabo bench, loads of coaches shouting and giving out to young lads tho.
Eddie was on holiday in Spain.
Athlone due to play 2 games on Saturday.
Longford away 7.30
Wexford at home 7.45
Must have a big squad of players
Playing $hels tomorrow night in Baldonnel KO 7:45.
It's all well and good being able to field 2 teams in one day but if I was a manager less than a month out from the season kicking off I would want to see the players in action.
Yeh we are playing Wexford alright. Don't think we are playing 2 games as was suggested

The FAI have "withdrawn permission" for the LTFC-Athlone game apparently. Pity, I was quite looking forward to it for some unknown reason.
Wexford Youths beat the Irish Universities 3-1 in IT Carlow last night.
Pats beat Shels 7-1. Goals by Byrne , Fagan 2, Bermo & Corcoran for Pats. Jamie Doyle for Shels
Coleraine 0-0 Derry City last night.
Clean sheet, woo hoo!
How did Nathan Boyle do?
And how did Nathan Boyle get on?
Seems our game v Athlone is back on at 3.00 on Saturday. They must be splitting their squad and presumably using u19s as well. Or else Alan Mathews is working them hard in pre season.
Yeh it's back on alright. Don't see any sense in this. I presume we are sending mainly trial players and under 19s over to Longford. I would hope we concentrate on the cup game. Even if it is the LSC.
If Athlone are sending their u-19's I don't see any point in the game. Sure LTFC could of organised a friendly with our own u-19's! You'd have to think athlone will split their squad up for the two games.
But unless Athlone's is a mixture I don't see the point in the game.
It's just a training session really, in terms of the point of it I suppose it gives some fans a chance to see the new lads if they haven't already. There may be issues with getting the game officially sanctioned if it was just our u19s v our first team. I don't know if that would have implications for insurance purposes, both in terms of the general public and the players? That's just a guess though and it could just be simply Tony Cousins' choice.
I'm told it won't be sanctioned, nothing definite though
City 5-2 Limerick. Maguire(2), Dooley, Sheppard and Buckley with our goals
Limerick easing up already with the title won?
