Apparantly so, played Brooklodge in Riverstown last week and they mentioned that Blarney st were using the community pitch this year!

Tower started pre season very well , 100% record so far. Beat Killowen 1-0 away last night i think, could do well in div 3. Terence McSweeney v good defender on his day at the back and if they hold onto Sean Taggart they have the makings of a very good defence. Young side but some decent players there from what i can see. Lots of them not playing at all last season so good to see them back playing.
best of luck to all teams for the season lads may the best teams win there divisions
Rock mount junior 2 Bweeng 1 rock mount only fair for a team that are normally there or thereabouts in the msl junior they hadn't a shot in the second half chawky reffed it great ref
Best of luck to everyone lads. Lets hope our "dry summer" is later this year! As per every pre-season I think we will win everything...............Im bound to be right some season arent I?
Wonder will many games go ahead this weekend with this weather that we getting . Not many clubs will want to ruin their pitch in the first week of the season .
too true not a lot of pitches will survive this weather so any games that go ahead best of luck to all teams and groundsmen
of any teams nice start to the season trying to get things right.see a few new refs in the aul this year should be interesting.
Hi Guys,
New to the site. Im Involved with Leeview, been reading the forum for awhile and decided to contribute.
Really hope the weather eases as a lot of teams have put serious effort into pre season and nothing worse than opening day getting called off. I feel the more of the high quality astro turf facilities that shoot up around the city the Better. In our section alone there's 3 teams that use them (including ourselves) which will decrease the amount of games we have called off.
lads whats yer take on aul refs ive watched alot of games last season and there was lots of bad decisions and lots of games ruined over it i hope they can stand up and be better for the new season
lads can anyone tell me any bookmakers take bets on cork aul soccer ?
Liathroidi, Cashmans normally do, but it might be a bit early.
when is the best time to get the best odds ?
Cashman's normally wait until 3-5 games into the season before taking money. For obvious reasons they wait to see how strong some teams are.
To be honest I feel sorry for the refs in the aul it's a thankless job . You have guys playing the game and supporters watching the game that think they know all the rules etc but in fact haven't a clue . Then all it takes is a ref to make 1 bad call and everyone is on their back I don't think forum should be used to mouth off at ref's. We don't see many new faces starting out as refs and can you blame them when all they get is abused without ref's we wouldn't have a league . I've never seen or known a player to go out and have a bad game but yet it happen's same can be said for refs ,
If your training hard all season and a fella makes a mistake or a questionable decision costs them he should explain if asked after the game fellas are paying a fiver or a tenner in some cases for script I think there entitled to an explanation rather than being fobbed off and spoke to like a five year old that's my opinion the leagues should encourage ex players to ref not some fellas after an easy pay day
lads refs shouldnt do the job if they getting decisions wrong week in week out just an opinion not on to slate them
I played a match a few years ago it was very important game and the ref made an awful booboo and he's one of the best and most respected in cork he came in at half time and asked to speak to the manager explained and apologised for his error our manager said fair enough that was the end of it we drew the match and we said nothing to him afterwards just shake his hand he went up a hundred fold that day for me point being if the refs explained questionable decisions fella wouldn't get freaked out on the pitch but there told to get out of the referees sight when asking a question
In a perfect world yes but we don't live in a perfect world what refs we have we lucky to have and for 40 odd euro a game I can think of a hell of a lot of better things then have 22 players and both sets of manager's shouting at me for 90 minutes. And I don't ref. I'm still playing away . I'd love to have astro pitchs sand based pitchs etc to play on and dressing rooms hot shower's etc after every game but alas its not happening . But I live in the real world and I know things can not always be how you want them . ;)
Thinking of backing casement for division 3B in an accumulator for when the odds come out for the season, anyone have any knowledge on who would be strongest in the league?
That get out of sight thing is ridiculous. Not jsut the AUL refs but soccer refs as a whole we could take a leaf out of the rugby book here. Theres times when refs make dreadful decisions or make a call without seeing something else and when a player tries to point something out to them they are told to go way.
Anyway will they have even games to ref this weekend the weather is shocking
I wrote a post on refs before the subject comes up and changed my mind!!
Im not sure I would do it myself, but the fact remains they are being paid for what they do and no-one is forcing anyone. If I dont do the job I am paid for, my paymasters will have something to say about it. Its a bit of a annoyance of mine as long time posters may remember. The paymasters of referees, i.e. the teams, are never asked to rate the refs. Refs are judged by refs - makes sense to a point but surely the paymasters should have some say - some official communication channel? Turkeys dont vote for Xmas!
On the rugby comparison, its one I have made myself in my head lots of times and the conclusion I have come to is this. Rugby refs talk more to the players and explain decisions - right or wrong.
This season has already had a situation for me ( I know...very early). Whistle was blown for a foul at the edge of our box. Correctly, the ref didnt make a call because he was back a bit, so he took stock of where the players had been and went up to confirm the line and tackle mark on the ground. He blew for a penalty.
I happened to be nearby and did the same walk behind him. The tackle mark I saw was outside the box so I asked him.
Maybe I had the wrong mark, maybe the tackle was at the end of the stretched tackle - I dont know. Thats why I asked.
Not a word, nothing. Just looked and walked away. Was that respectful to me? I didnt think so. Theres the key difference, in my opinion between rugby refs and soccer refs.
We are expected to give money and automatic respect and all we ask is respect in return. The best refs understand that.
Sharpshooter - from your betting record, thats a kiss of death for Casement! Care to spill the beans on the rest of your accumulator?
Just so you get the spelling right its B-L-A-C-K-S-T-O-N-E!!
Its something I will ask people to pm to me because its not information you may want to share. Whats the membership costs for your team or any team you know? I dont even need the team name.....though I will know some of you! What do ye have to pay at the beginning of the season? Whats your weekly costs? Do ye have weekly tickets? etc. I would be grateful for anyone willing to share.
I wont make the AUL meeting tonight so if anyone is there, please share the goings on.
100 membership Horse and 5 sub for home game
will there be many games go ahead this weekend?cant ever remember first games of the season being cancelled because of the weather
just on the referees i always find if you just have a quiet word after the incident at the next break of play they nearly always explain it maybe thats just me tho!!
I suppose some times it comes down to the fact there are a minimum of 11 guys screaming at the referee that he's made an absolute f*ck up of a decision, it is very difficult to then have a quiet word or explain seeing as most of the time he's being abused.
I was never an angel on the pitch but I always found a quiet word when the ball went dead after the real shouting and roaring about a decision had died down normally leads to a reasonable response.
Also every single player should try some level of refereeing - I just helped out once at a preseason 5 a side tournament. The job is tough - not made any easier by the players involved, everyone claims everything. Guy kicks the ball 5 yards wide and first thought is to try to claim a corner... Let's not forget no matter what way you dress it up - it is a form cheating and it is encouraged. Just recently saw at olympics in the badminton if you call a shot in our out - you get a warning, next time point is awarded against you, the line calls are the line judges responsibility.
I think Joe Brolly's artice recently was an excellent example - substitute soccer for GAA.

Innish, I'm with you there, I was never captain for my team but over the years you get a respectable relationship with the Referees and you can then have a quiet word when the ball goes dead. 99 times out of a 100 you will get an answer but I have never seen the point in moaning about a decision no matter how unjust because no matter how good the argument is he won't change his mind.
Could someone confirm for me is the casement team in 3b there first team or there second team????
If this is the case its pure rubbish and the aul have alot to answer for! Casment will run away with the league and thats no good to no one! Its the same as last year parks second team droped two divisions to the third and won the 3rd division, lakewoods first team packed it in last season and they all played with there third division and they ran away with there section! Where is the fairness in this???
I know its a joke but I don't think they'll be that good to be honest after thinking about it a lot of there player wont drop to aul 3
