Galway equalise!
Kinda hoping the Galway game goes to penalties- that would be class!
2-1 to Galway. Flood scores.
2-2 sweet!
What a comeback with no keeper and only two subs!
Edit: 2-2 :(
3-2 Derry!
Dramatic stuff at the Brandywell!
Monaghan 6-1 Tullamore
Monaghan are going goal crazy these days!
Limerick got a last minute winner against Cobh to win 2-1
Barry Ryan was injured, and we have no back-up keeper. Rumours that we tried to sign someone today, but the FAI rejected it.....
FT here and the Mons march on to that lovely little game against some wee team called Bohs in the next round! Bohs Boyz book your bus and bring Mondog money!
Stole this from a fan of ours on facebook: What have Monaghan United and Roger Federer got in common? They both win 6-1 6-1
Whats line up for next round?
Derry V Harps
Nice 1, pity we didnt get a home game against you all.
I think RTE 2's late news may have the goals from the Pats/Sligo setanta semi. 4 great goals for Pats, with Ryan Guy's 4th the pick of the bunch
Would RTE show Setanta cup goals??
A mediocre team who took its chances. Which, after all, is the point of the sport
No highlights on RTE but they'll be on the Pats youtube page later. First one up

yeah its the leagues fault you were thumped 4-1 i personally blame the ref and the 4th official for our bad luck between them they give us nothing.
I thought you played well just unfortunate that we scored with our 1st 3 shots.
oddly been a while since we beat sligo 4-1 twas the normal score back when we were good.

Ryan Guy's is an absolute cracker.
I'd guess Sligo had more of the ball but can only think of Dan Connor being used once or twice. A few corners and frees but agian didn't do much with it. It was a very open game, even if I think we scored with our first three chances.
Definitely had a fair few chances to wrap it up before Guy's screamer
Has anybody seen that young fella off bray james kavanagh play yet ? Is he any good ?

Highlights tonight on Setanta apparently
Nobody can argue with the result last night. Our defending was shocking and we'd had to have scored 4/5 goals to get out of there with anything. Not sure why players like Blinkhorn, O'grady, keane werent in the starting lineup. I would have had the setanta cup in as a main objective so dont know why we changed lineup. Foran had an absolute nightmare in central defence resulting in us conceding so many. He'd prob be a decent right back but he was all over the place last night. We had alot of possession at times and did nothing with it - at times in the final 3rd we didnt know what to do. Pat's took their chances and that's what it's all about. Pat's didnt play near as well as they could but they didnt need to. Great goal from Guy. a brilliant strike.
This result will prob affect the attendance now for the next leg. Could be a good game but an awful lot to do. We should have done much better than that last night. :(
yea, saw that apparently galway were looking for a dispensation to sign a keeper outside the transfer window. league rejected the initial approach but they hope to be more successful in getting a keeper before game V Bohs.
Seems very, very careless management to start a season with one keeper (or are other keeper(s) at the club injured ?).
We have two keepers signed Barry Ryan and Seamus Friel, both injured.
the rule is from what I can remember of the top of my head is that if you have two keepers injured and both are professional the special dispensation can be given.
But if you have two keepers and one is professional and the other amateur then you cant do anything.
We had this issue a couple of seasons ago and our goalkeeping coach played for the best part of the season.
Yep. He is the younger brother of Paddy.
He only turned 17 in Feb of this year if i am correct and is in 4th year in school still. Apperently he was offered a 3 year contract by Burnley but chose to stay and do his leaving cert.
He has talent and potential, but he is a long way off being the finished article but i suppose playing week in week out for us will only make him a better player and will help his progress.
That could be the problem, Battery Rover. I'd imagine Friel is on an amateur contract. Stupid rule, The FAI are trying to encourage clubs to stay within budget but then penalising them for doing so by signing amateur players.
