I fancy our chances with that team.

City will be able to put out a very good eleven but don't have the squad to compete with Drogheda and Derry if they get a few injuries IMO. Could do with another couple of decent quality signings.
Did Healy not have an offer from Aberdeen aswell? Me thinks Cork are hoping to sell him at the end of the season for big bucks!
He had a firm offer from Falkirk for definate but I've seen no mention anywhere over here of Aberdeen being interested in him.
I disagree. League is won by first team as proven in 2005 with just decent bench required.
Another forward expected to sign too. I'll admit Drogs have strong squad but IMO should have sacked Doolin & replaced with Fenlon. Derry City have not improved & if anything have lost squad backup in the close season.
Fitness will obviously be a big factor.
Yes but the first team that season didn't have a lot of injuries to put up with other than the usual JOF absences. Yes Doyle was lost too after a dozen or so games but Fenn had been brought in so it was managable. The back 4 and GOC remained fairly constant of I recall correctly?
You can't expect to carry that luck with regards injuries most seasons. Losing "good" players and replacing them with "decent" ones due to injury or suspension will have an effect sooner or later and that's why I think City need more depth.
Cork look pretty weak up front. Once O'Flynn gets injured. Which he will
I think the squad is very important pete. Particularly for Cork with Farrelly, JOF and Healy all having seriuous question marks over their fitness
No fear of UCD or the SPA's ever troubling our fullbacks.
Thanks for the concern though.
By the way, Ray Lally can also operate at left-full.
CCFC has the best under age system in the country producing quality players for top half of the Premier table.
Of recent squad members players such Horgan, Bennet, Lordan, Softic, Behan, McNulty have come through... so will expect a few more to also break through.
Joe Gamble, Damian Delaney, Shane Long, Brian Barry Murphy, Colin O'Brien and then improving young players who come to us from elsewhere like Doyle, O'Donovan, Danny Murphy etc
Then just for good measure look at our record in youth and u-21 football ;)
Only one anywhere near is UCD I suppose
Looks like City should be able to compete this year.
Colin Healy signed because he wanted 1st team football and its only in Cork that he was guaranteed a game every week.
I expect the city team to look something like this
Devine
Lordan Murphy/O'Callaghan Murray Ryan
Gamble Healy Farrelly Kearney
O'Donovan O'Flynn
Definately need a striker but if there was one attainable signing left, I'd definately want it to be Neal Horgan.
Welcome Colin Healy!!
