5 and 1/2 years contract??? Ashley must really like the guy

Truly the most baffling exchange I can recall in football!!!

Saints manager Alan Pardew, who signed Connolly for West Ham, said: "If he comes back from this injury lay-off like I think he will, then we're going to find ourselves with an exciting player."
"David is keen to show that he is ready to kick back in.
"I believe in him and my staff all feel that we could get one of the bargains of the season - but only if David comes back to what he has achieved and what he could do before, because he is a Premiership player when he is at his best."
I don't support firing Hughton, but dare I dream?
Conspiracy rumour doing the rounds - that Ashley has a buyer and wants to have his mate in on a ridiculously long contract.
Sound plausible enough, as conspiracies go -- I'd give it 5.5 out of ten.
The future of Newcastle United FC: http://football365.com/story/0,17033...563673,00.html
That was a good read,
written by Alan Tyers;)
Good to see Keegan and Moyes get stuck into Ashley and Co. Ashley deserves all the crap that is being sent his way. Will be interesting to see the crowd's reaction to him and Pardew if initial results aren't good.
Newcastle 1-0 Liverpool, Nolan 15min
So far so good for Pardew.
If Newcastle win, that's down to Hughton of course, should they drop points, that's down to his sacking.
1-1 now in the second half, but it's a terrible, terrible goal.
There were fan protests outside the ground before the game: http://football365.com/story/0,17033...567324,00.html
Newspaper reports linking Hughton with West Ham. Wouldn't be a bad move. If they get relegated which is a strong possibility, he won't get blamed. He can then complete a miracle like he did with Newcastle as he is the messiah!
If West Ham go down, they aren't going to be able to keep the team together the way Newcastle did. The only player they sold when they went down was Duff. If West Ham get relegated, the whole thing is going to come down like a house of cards and they'll likely not be seen in the PL for a long, long time.
He'll go to Ipswich. And any other team with a pending sacking.
Anyone on more than 10k a week.
Hughton for Blackburn anyone?
Off to Sheff UTD is the rumour doing the rounds.
