Dear Kevin
Just talked to the organizers of the Faroese evenings and they said if they had found a location there would be no dancing and no food, so I don't see the point in having a Faroese Evening when the most traditional events not are included.
The concert in not traditional in the way that there will be Faroese dance, but the Faroese music will be traditional Faeroese music that has been rearranged. Because Faroese music is normally without instruments and the musicians have added instruments to this arrangement.
The croup is called Yggdrasil and the musicians are some of the few Faroese musicians that live of there music and their are also some of the best musicians the Faroes have. To there group they have added famous faroese folksinger, Kári Sverrison.
There are two Irish musicians that have joined the group for this concert and they are
Máire Breatnach, fiddle
Thomas Loefke, Harp
So I don't know have how traditional Irish it will be with harp? But there will be a mixture of the two, Ireland and Faroe Island.
The concert will be held in the Nordic house, which is known for its beautiful architecture.
You can find some more information about the group on
www.tutl.com and the Nordic house on
www.nlh.fo.
Tickets can be bought through us and I think it would be a good idea for you to buy them beforehand as I imagine that the concert will be popular.
Sincerely
Kunningarstovan
