interstingly belgium was part of netherlands until it split under the treaty of london in 1839.however full separation ie french speakers joining france wasnt permitted.the powers at the time didnt want to make france more powerful. the flemish speakers (closely rleated to dutch) were catholic.basically the netherlands was split between protestant north and catholic south. though it could have easily been split in 3.or even an alternative 2Quote:

Intersting comments Anto. Perhaps we should leave matters politic as they are ..... and concentrate on football?
How about donating money to charity.
This topic raises its head again, but with the Setanta draw
tomorrow and with some eL club having to visit Winsor Park
in the next few months. So will ye be bringing your tri-colours
along with your other flags? And how many away fans do
you think ye will bring?
This is a football site, a site to discuss football, not politics or religion!

Ulster is consists of nine counties the last time I've checked. Does that mean that Northern Ireland fans will be singing for Cavan, Donegal and Monaghan aswell?Quote:
