i take all your points on board balls and yes old bridge are a great club as you have stated above but at the end of the day its the players that have left the club down here and no one else no point saying tsdl should do this, that and other. old bridge had 16 players every week last year and all was rosy in the garden when they were hammering teams in div 1 they only lost the tipp cup final to st michaels 1 nil aswell remember. from what i have heard alot of those players have left to play lower lge and that attitude is disgraceful they could have played out the season in premier maybe they would have had a few heavy defeats but not many and they would probably go unbeaten at home in ferryhouse where they were always hard to beat down the years. i have no doubt the club will be back in time as there are great football people involved in that club.

Correct republican it is becoming a farce. Great suggestion about nenagh but you would imagine if they were to go anywhere it would probably be limerick league. nenagh fairly close to limerick city and with all premier teams barr kilmallock playing out of the city so logistically going into limerick would make more sense for them.
Saying that though something radical has to be done. Need to get the tsdl premier division up to at least 8 teams anything less is just not good enough if we want to keep our status as one of the top leagues in the country. another idea could be leave borris and cahir in premier and have no relagation in division 1 either. Then adjust the other divisions to suit. That would leave a 9 team premier of :
Saints, Town, Celtic, Peake, Cashel, Bansha, Wildies, Cahir , Borris
Div 1 : ballingarry, moyglass, st.nicks, Glengoole, Galbally, Cullen, Killenaule, Town B, Saints B

That would leave 2 decent top divisions and all other divisions could be adjusted to have 8 teams. If not enough teams to fill 8 team divisions in 2nd division to 4th division, then the team that finished bottom of premier borris relagated to Div 1. That would leave premier still with 8 teams, saints B and town B then moved to division 2 leaving division 1 with 8 teams. Hopefully then you have at least 8 teams in all divisions from top to bottom of tsdl anything less would be a disaster and devalue a great league set up we have in tsdl.
Just also to make a point. I do not blame the clubs or Tsdl for clubs folding. Its just another faactor of the sorry state this country is in at present. Funds are hard to come by and alot of players and club officers have emmigrated. Soccer clubs seem to be getting hit first because we are the smallest and youngest clubs in Irish sport but the future looks bleak and i can see bigger gaa and rugby clubs also having similar problems in the coming years.

i think your right about us at the moment we havent the team to be competitive down there this year but in maybe 2 years time we would up for such a move and nenagh town would hold their own down there as it is and id imagine they would also welcome the move, ive being saying it for a long time now that at least the premier should be an all tipp league, im sure thurles blackcastle and clough would be interested in this idea also

Agreed bout how players must take some part of the blame. Hard to get loyalty in modern game. lot of lads dont really get attached to clubs and have no problem moving about. Bridge were gonna find it hard get lads in for a battle in the premier league when obviously some fancy a chance of a medal and more enjoyable game down the divisions. Just an example when in a battle to stay up in premier league its weekly tempers faring between teammates, busting a gut chasing down a town or celtic for 90 mins and still getting thumped 4 or 5 nil. Where as down the divisions they will be the teams giving out the drubbings. This is just my opinion lads and I know a most football people on this forum would relish relegation battles staying loyal to their clubs and testing themselfs against the best on a weekly basis I was one of these. but im afraid the majority of players don’t see it like this and its especially difficult in a town like clonmel where players have the option of moving about clubs.
Its easy for us to comment about it here but none of us unless involved with the club really know the ins and outs of what players left etc or how they were treated last year not getting games etc.
But one thing I will comment about is those who have represented oldbridge the last few years have been a credit to the club and town. The nucleus of players they built teams around never changed. All great club men who turned out for their club every Sunday Emmett ryan, juicy and the likes. Always a tough game and decent football lads behind it all. Hopefully the club will rise again in a few years and the sooner the better

you really should stop talking about things you know very little about. a good schoolboy structure?? you are havin a laugh. the club is a farce and if it wasnt for the group of players that you have abused they would never have won the 2 league titles that they have in the last few years. the 7 or 8 good players have been constantly let down by the clowns in charge and owe the club nothing. the club is heading for a huge wake up call and i have no doubt that the players you mentioned will be blamed but they have been papering over the cracks for years. believe me, if you knew half the stuff that goes on up there you would agree

An excellent post Wombat, the same group of players have carried the club for 10 years and done what no other group of players in the clubs history could do and that's deliver a Premier League title, they also contested Fai semi finals and Munster finals, the club were blessed with a golden generation and in 10 years have only produced 1 youth player to play on the first team in Pippy Carroll, an incredible statistic that shows how awful their youth structure is, you must have football people running a club and not parents and local tradesmen

This is a quetion for the lads who know whats going on in Villa ' Do you think Villa will have the players to field 2 Junior teams, because if they don't then the league will drop the b team and villa would have to contest Premier with what ever they have '

You obviously have a personal agenda with the club but your right I don't know exact details of the going ons but what I do know is that these players were chopping and changing between town / borris / villa over the last few years on a whim and even some of them where haunting saints management , yes they won 2 leagues but this group of players should have won a lot more but as you say it was all the clubs fault (plural ) players never the blame

Right Boy I can assure Wombat does not have a personal agenda with the club. He just spelled out what the whole town of Thurles knows and is talking about at the moment. You had a go at Villa again this time last year over a game being called off when you were totally in the wrong and now again you’r wrong. You might be lucky enough to be involved in a Football club that is run by proper football people but unfortunately that is the furthest thing the people running our club are. The most ofthem know nothing about the game and are treating the club as a little play toy. The great schoolboy structure that was spoken about is an absolute joke. This isn’t a schoolboy forum so I won’t go in o the in's and outs of that.
The players that you are giving out about have been the players that have been training all this year and putting in the required effort, It’s the supposed more club men that didn’t give a **** one of their excuses for deciding not to come to a 11am kick off was that it was too early in the morning. It was only last year that a committee member is on record as saying that he would be happier if the club had no Junior set up and this was the route they planned to go down. The first team would not be in the position they are in now only because of the committee and their lack lustre approach to the junior team. At the end of last season which had been a good building season again and when we looked like we were heading in the right direction granted not all things were 100% but we were getting their we had atop class coach in place the best that has ever been see at the club backed with a good management team. The management team wanted the ok to start preparing for the new season and start what they felt would be a big year for the first team, Yet low and behold the committee dragged out for weeks on end weather the same management team would be in place when eventually the management had enough and Noel said he wasn’t going to be involved, Prizeman then committed to St Pauls in Dublin. The club asked Padraig O Connor to take over who was assistant last year which he did and brought in a coach with him. Two weeks in the committee decided to get rid of the coach without even consulting their manager. The committee did not want to supply any gear or anything to the first team new balls ect. With all of this going on numbers weren’t great at training but we had won 2 out 3 pre season games and most of last year’s team had signed. The committee were giving the manager no help at all and didn’t want him to bring in another coach either. This along with more things which I won’t bore you off led to the manager stepping away and he was 100% correct to do so in my opinion. The club now are blaming the players as usual as they are the easy target. I for one won’t hold a thing again any player who decides to leave or not play for the club this year.

It really saddens me to have to come on here and tell you about what is going on but I don’twant all the conspiracy theories to start. We won’t have 2 teams in the TSDL this year unless a miracle happens.Thanks for taking the time to read what looks like an essay.

some rant alright :) i dont have a clue what is going on at villa but you seem to be fairly passionate about the club and it must be hard for the real clubmen at the minute, do ye have enough good lads there to keep things going?

There is some good clubman at villa ( but u wouldn't think it with some of the post on here)
As for my opinion on villa and giving walkover I was proved 100% after further investigations it was a shocking thing to do by the 1st team management and caused a split / divisions within the club as you righty said the whole town / league knew about and it cost the club a lot of money on appeals

Yes the club has some good men involved in it, unfortunately they are not able to have an influence on what is going on at the moment.Nobody wants to come on here and write about how bad things are in their club at the moment, it breaks my heart having to talk about this stuff but people wanted to know and I don’t want the players to be blamed as was referred to on here. I’m not going back over that again with you right boy we had this out last year.
Celticlads the club will survive but I don’t see their being a junior set up in the not to distance future.

They were missing 5 of the team that started against Kilbarrack in the FAI Junior semi. Were Nenagh at full strength?

Clonmel celtic have secured the services of striker seanie o harafrom the wilderness in what must be one of the signing of the season. seanie has an excellent goalscoring record and im sure with the help of a great squad he can add to that. not long now before the season starts. hopefully the bridge are back. what would slacks do without sunday football.

Thats a great signing for Celtic. With him and Paul Kennedy up front and Richie Ryan in goal, they will be a serious threat in all competitions this season. How times have changed. Celtic are now the Number 1 club in Clonmel. My own club Clonmel Town are in big trouble and I dont take any joy in saying that. To me things are not good both on and off the field. It will be a long, long time before we are any type of force again.

No wonder Clonmel Town have problems with a "supporter" like you complexman, i don't think i have ever heard you say a positive word about the club, i don't support town but im even depressed every time i come online and read your comments
