Vote For Shay!
Roy Keane is also in the poll but is in last place atm and hasn't got much chance of winning. Current standings:Quote:
NEWCASTLE United 'keeper Shay Given is in the running for The FA's FA Cup 'Player of the Round' award after his sixth round heroics against Tottenhamyesterday.
Republic of Ireland's Given was in outstanding form, and made two breathtaking saves from Jermain Defoe and Robbie Keane, to keep Spurs at bay after Patrick Kluivert scored the only goal of a pulsating FA Cup tie after just six minutes.
Given's heroics came as Newcastle look to win The FA Cup for the first time in 50 years, having lifted the trophy three times in five years in the 1950s.
Manager Graeme Souness admitted Newcastle had 'luck on their side', adding that Tottenham were the better team for 'much of the game'.
Given, though, is hoping that lady luck continues to smile on Newcastle. "We didn't do ourselves justice in previous finals, but hopefully we can go to Cardiff and put that right," he said, having been in the Newcastle squad which lost FA Cup finals at Wembley in 1998 and 1999.
Now Newcastle fans, enjoying their fourth FA Cup semi final in eight years, have the chance to vote for man of the match Given in an on-line pollat www.TheFA.com
Fans have just seven days to register their support as votes must be cast by 9.00am on Monday, March 21.
Sir Trevor Brooking, The FA's Director of Football Development, said: "The FA Cup always produces heroic performances that live long in the memory of fans. Shay's performance, including several world-class saves, and his outstanding contribution to the competition are something that The FA is delighted to recognise.
"Shay thoroughly deserves to be in the running for The FA Cup Player of the Round award. Now fans have an opportunity to show their support, to try and help him win £1000 worth of UMBRO kit to boost grass roots football in the local community and to book his place in The FA's Team of The FA Cup."

He's got my vote, the second of two quick saves looked pretty
staggering as it was really well hit.

It was reported on Canadian television that Given will move to either Old Trafford or Highbury in the summer. Can anyone elaborate?
Its just rumours at the moment
He was injured last night against Sporting Lisbon - any idea how long he's out for? Surely he'll be back in advance of the May/June internationals...?!
Terry what happened to you, last I heard you were playing for Man City?
I was bemoaning how long it was until the next Israel game. Now I'm glad it's a couple of months though I'd imagine it's not serious and I'm also confident of Paddy Kenny's ability and current form.
How did Andy O'Brien play yesterday? Carr?
Carr was excellent last night man of the match,O'Brien held his own.
Not quite.Quote:

Sorry, an update:

Old Tezzer could probably still do a job for us at left back
I think Terry retired from Charlston last year.
Shay's father said to me in Israel that they were certain it was to be old trafford. Smith/O'shea + £7million. Big Bucks for a goalkeeper when you'd value either at £5m
When did you talk to his dad? didn't even know he was here... personally I hope he stays at Newcastle - or at least doesn't go to Man U. Can't see the team I like the least getting one of my fav players. :)Quote:
