So will it be Bray that will complete the Premier if Cork dont use up another lifeline? Or will it be the next club in line who have ticked the most boxes in getting a premier licence? or have i missed something?
Glad, though unsurprised, we got the Premier. We seem to be doing a lot of things right these days that we weren't doing five years ago, and if we have any real ambitions to come back to the Premier, we need to be getting the Premier License and getting it the right way.
People seem to have this odd idea though, that the licensese are being awarded on some kind of imperically rationable basis, as though it were a case of if you have X to Y standard, you are eligible, and if you don't you aren't. As we all know there are different strands with different requirements, kind of like the Leaving Cert. On this occasion, The Coughlan formally known as Cork City have applied on the strand that requires them to submit an essay entitled "Why I think we deserve a Premier License". Tom has applied for extenuating circumstances, owing to the fact that he had misplaced his pen, and had to nip off to the shops for it, and bought a red one, but when he got back, they told him that he had to write it in either black or blue, so he had to go out again, but the buses were slow and he was waiting for hours, so he thought it would be better if he came in the following day and did it new.
Nothing left to do but curse about it til next monday
I can think of one party that deserves to be caught in the cross fire without a shadow of a doubt.
another FAI fudge this league really is in a shambles but to expect anything else from them jokers in abbottstown was naive
So Coughlan gets the Long money, pays off the revenue, winding up order is withdrawn on Monday, FAI will then award CCFC a premier license. I can see the takeover still running into problems as Coughlan will have his license and place in the premier. He can then hold the takeover bid to ransom.
Now what if he pays off the revenue and the FAI still don't give him a license...essentially the FAI just waiting around to get the Revenue paid, keeping them onside. Might be interesting.
Who am I kidding, they'll still fudge it anyway.
It will be Thursday next week at the earliest that we will get the fixtures if Cork are refused a licence on Monday and they use the 3 day appeal. Most if not all managers know who their first few matches are anyway so that will giv eyou something to play with until then :)
This is something I thought of also. Get Coughlan to pay Revenue, then deny him a licence. It would be a splendid way to tell him to f**k off for once and for all.
FORAS get their licence, football in Cork continues.
Collins is "disappeared." Everybody's a winner.
Shocking stuff, we all knew it would be a Fudge and it has proved so.I don't blame people walking away in disgust anymore.
it all comes down to association sanctioned cheating and swindling cork (Tommy C)dont pay their staff the players the tax man plus drag the public image of LOI football through the mud and they get away scott free the words farce and joke come to mind the sad part is I think the fai top brass has even given up the pretense that the league is anything more than a jokeshop we are now well into Feb clubs are doing their preseasons and fixtures for a league which starts at the beginning of march aren't out I wouldn't trust Delaney and his cohorts to run the local chip shop never mind football in the country.
Not deflecting from the Cork City debacle but how did Drogs get a Prem licence given that United Park doesn't meet the seating criteria?
it seems that UCD dont meet the seating criteria either but as long as the club has "a plan" in place (snigger), the independent licensing committee (snigger) will overlook things....
They'll overlook everything depending on who you are, it seems.
Well as Drog fans like to tell it - the FAI own United Park and are therefore responsible for any upgrades etc. As long as there is an active planning application for a ground that would meet requiremants a license is issued, so all that has to happen is to keep planned development renewed then the Drogs can stay in United park in its current guise forever
I wonder if that BWCTWYD or whatever his name is will crawl out from under his rock to congratulate Bohemians on securing a Premier Division License...
