Saw the following during the holidays here (a lovely 10 days period of restfulness, and cut price cinema tickets):
Season of the Witch - poor, a few people jumped at the start, then it was a poorly done re-hash of Kingdom of Heaven. Cage was poor, Ron Perlman tried a little, and there was no real point in it - 2/10
Rabbit without Ears - funny in parts and fluffy. Til Schweiger played a yellow paper reporter who get community service and serves it at a kindergarden. In German but with a few celeb's showing up, and some very funny parts. Some of the sex scenes are a bit pointless, but the lead female is naturally cute. 5/10
Fatherland - Old but good with Rutger Hauer in the adaptation of the book by Robert Harris. What would have happened if the Nazi's won the war. Some pieces are thought provoking and while it moves quickly, it was underdone as a TV movie. 5/10
The Kings Speech - Only saw a trailer and didn't hear much else about it, then sat stultified for the whole ordeal. There was a really good movie to be made, but it just was overacted and weak. Afterwards I read reviews and wondered if it was the same movie. 2/10
The Way Back - Watching it with a friend who's family were banished to Siberia from their farm in Ukraine it made it a little more interesting. Some decent moments in it and while it's not exactly how the real story played out, it's still worth a watch. 6/10
Tron:Legacy - Not a patch on the original, graphics kind of take over and make it a little ott, but easy to watch on a Sunday afternoon. 5/10
The Fighter - Weak, despite a good cast, and a bit let down. As a boxing fan I was hoping for alot, but it just failed to take off. It's a good story but I think just meandered a bit. 4/10
Hereafter - I like Matt Damon, he's someone who can do hard or soft (type of movies of course). He's good in comedies, good in action, this was just a little odd. It passed the time but I wouldn't watch it in a couple of years if it came on tv. 5/10
Love and Other Drugs - Wasn't this done before? Richard Gere, Winona Ryder or some other crew? I didn't see any chemistry between the leads, and I can't watch Jake without thinking of him and Heath getting sweaty, while Anne Hathaway is just a good actress but hard on the eye. 4/10
The Tourist - No, please, no. No chemistry, no story, no point. While I find Jolie to be so-so in looks etc, she can be a very good actress at time in certain roles, but like Salt she didn't pull this off. Depp must be dying for the new Pirates to come out as he'd want his name taken off this one. He's been a solid actor since 21 Jump Street (yes, it was fun as a teen to watch it) and deserved a better script and lead. But at the same time I wondered if Colin Farrell would have been better in this, or someone less obvious. 2/10
Got to see the Third man for about the 10th time. Still great. Also watched the Kremlin letter (again starring Welles) made 1970. First time to see it and worth a look.
Went to see Blue Valentine recently, fantastic movie with great performances from the two leads
don't go to see it with the girlfriend though
Went with some friends to see "Morning Glory" and left feeling pleasantly surprised. A little fluffy, as well as sentimental - the underlying motif being - a happy family is worth more than anything else. Harrison Ford was very good, Diane Keaton was excellent as always, the guy who played the first anchor was briefly hilarious. Some laugh out loud moments, some kind of cringing moments, and Rachel McAdams running about in panties with a real female figure. A nice Saturday evening flick. 6/10
Saw Black swan "More like swan sh*t" 5/10 stay away
Wanted to see Neds but its not even out in any cinema in Cork since they closed down the keno.
Watched the Kings speech over the weekend and I have to say its one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm no movie buff and I'd rarely comment on films one way or the other, but this was a really enjoyable 2 hours. What's really good is the way Firth gets across his deep frustrations, which manifest itself in impetuousness and downright pompous rudeness to others from time to time. One of my best friends growing up and to this day has a stammer, and I must say the concerns, the frustrations, the false dawns etc are described in the film, in a really brilliant and accurate way. My English really isn't good enough to describe how much I enjoyed this. 9/10

chronicles of narnia voyage of the dawn treader ,, viewed today on a wet sunday afternoon .. enloyed it more than i expected and would recomemed if you have seen first two or have kids to drag along ..:)

Kingdom, you've just talked yourself out of a popcorn and pepsi :-) I watched a documentary last night on the movie Way Back, or rather the story behind it. It's been pretty much debunked as a myth, though there were some escapees who made long journeys out of the USSR. Still worth a watch. And I should add that I watched The Fighter with expectation as I was a fan of Shay Neary and sat in a Dundalk pub watching the fight with Micky Ward, however the movie completely mangled the timeline, had an American going a Scottish accent as Neary (who is a Scouser) and was a poor mans Wrestler. Hence the generous marks.
I'm not sure of the correct title, I think it's just The Eagle with the guy from Billy Elliott and Channing Tatum. Interesting story of fixing a family legacy, understanding those who begin as slaves and a nice moral tale of never giving up. It moved at a good pace, was fun in parts and while it was fun to listen to a strange gaelic language mix being spoken, it is worth a look if you ever enjoyed sword and sandal epics. Good for a boys night out on Saturday.

Was captivated by this especially the last half hour or so , Natalie Portman is brilliant in it
Saw The King's Speech during the week too, thought it was very good. Two excellent performances from Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush drew you in. I want to get round to seeing True Grit next.

"Crazy Heart",Jeff Bridges excellent as down on his luck alcoholic Country & Western singer trying to keep his career going,if you like J B you'll like this-8.5/10
"The Town",gritty Boston crime movie with Ben Affleck excelling as a bank job gang leader who gets up close and personal with a witness to one of their jobs,8/10.
"Inside",where to start?,French film about pregnant woman who gets a visit from a very creepy woman who has bad intentions for the unborn,gore fest 7.5/10.
Was feeling a bit down tonight after a rough day so was looking for something to cheer me up and watched Hot Tub Time Machine. It worked. Some funny bits and John Cusack....perfection. 8/10.
