What a voice. Absolutely loved his commentary. Always felt like he was speaking to you rather than simply commentating.
Thanks for the memories, Jimmy. His eyes were a bit green tinted when commentating on the boxing but one of the good ones, along with Philip Greene who also passed away a few years ago.
Hugh Hefner. Looking quite like Popeye in the RTE pic.

No, no, no. Can't believe it. Was listening to Mudcrutch only this afternoon.
Edit
Feels wrong to thank you for breaking that news, Nigel, but better to hear it from a man who knows his music, I guess. I've a few friends who'll be in shock tomorrow at work I reckon.
LAPD seem to have made a balls of this. They confirmed the death earlier, but only in the past few minutes have released a statement saying that the death is not confirmed. TMZ reporting he's still clinging on to life support.
It's being reported on various other channels now (CNN etc) that he has died. He had a massive heart attack at his home in Malibu and was rushed to UCLA hospital (not far away just outside Santa Monica).
Up on his twitter page now, which is about as official as you can get.
Tom Humphries : In custody now. He always had a downer on League of Ireland and was on a crusade via his column in the Irish Times to stop Shamrock Rovers getting to Tallaght. Thankfully his and the GAA's attempt to stop ' Association football' been played in Tallaght Stadium didn't work.

SkStu and all of Canada mourn the loss of Tragically Hip's Gord Downie.
Eamonn Campbell.
Just one of The Dubliners left now I think.
Jeez a lot of greats died this week, Campbell, Gord, Dunsworth from TPB, and Sean Hughes. One of the funniest things i have sever seen on Tv was Hughes on Come Dine With Me, basically rehashing the same meal three times, potatoes and cabbage or something in a variety of different formats, he didn't give a ****, class.
Didn't realise Eamonn Campbell of The Dubliners was grand-father of current Irish international with the long throw - Megan Campbell of Man. City. RIP.

Hell ain't a bad place to be.
It just got a bit worse though - Charles Manson died yesterday.
Cult leader who killed, among others, Sharon Tate, pregnant wife of Roman Polanski, in 1969, and spent the rest of his life in jail.
Read a book about him years ago. Strangely enough, he didn't actually kill anyone that night, but he had enough control over his followers that he was never granted parole. One was in her teens and couldn't be held with the adults in prison, so was in with other teenagers who'd been picked up for minor offences.

Many on here of a certain vintage surely had David Cassidy posters all over their rooms as teens. Had more fans in his fan club than Elvis and the Beatles at one point. Think Marcia Brady was fan club president.
