It could create the possibility of Daniel Kelly and Dylan Connolly competing for the right wing position. Two real speedsters - hopefully at least one of them can actually play football

Dundalk also believe they have won the race to sign Daniel Kelly from Bohemians ahead of Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick's Athletic who made a late offer.
AFC Wimbledon apparently interested in taking Dylan Connolly, and a few would be due as he is under contract. That would be a strange move considering he isn’t good enough for the Dundalk team but I would gladly take any fee for him.
The kelly signing makes more sense now if they have been able to get him off the books.
I doubt it's a money issue but you can have too many players
Dundalk may have plenty of players, but that right side / wing has been a position that has caused problems in terms of getting a player to consistently deliver and to nail it down.
This is a good opportunity now for young Daniel Kelly.
There's a real lack of quality specialist right wingers in the whole league tbf, we're in a similar boat where the squad is actually shaping up very nicely outside of the fact that we've not got a single player whose primary position is there. Apparently we made Kelly an offer last minute but that was obviously more than a long shot.
Andy Boyle's loan period ends at Dundee. Although he is contracted on a lucrative deal at Preston till this summer, inevitable speculation has already kicked off about him returning early to LoI
https://dundeefc.co.uk/news/three-leave-the-club/
will this be another case of the unique dundalk economic trading policy whereby they let a player go for nothing and then buy him back again for a fee a year later...
i will bite...By saying 'letting a player go' you imply that we wanted rid of the player and that was never the case as you know PC. Out of contract and wanting to move to the more lucrative UK leagues and us hence not able to re-sign would be a better description, getting the opportunity to sign a player back if you have the means and strengthen the squad then so be it. In this case if Boyle's contract ends and if we want him back there wont be a transfer fee. While he has an Ireland cap he hasnt retired from international football yet so that would rule out Rover's interest!
Andy Boyle would be a great addition to any team who wants to do well in Europe.
He didn't put a foot wrong in 2016 European campaign. I am disappointed for him that he didn't make it in the UK, but I suspected that would be the case.
His game is far more suited to other European leagues.
It is understandable why some would regard re-signing former players as a flawed policy - especially if your club count Aaron Greene and Ronan Finn among a long line of prodigal disappointments who have failed to spark any success on their return.
However, Andy Boyle would likely be a fantastic addition to any ambitious League of Ireland club
Flailed transfer in policy in general so far with the likes of Gilchrist signed over Cleary, we shall soon see if things have changed this season. Every LoI club should want Boyle, whether we have a slot in the squad is a question but seeing as we are signing up players just for the sake of it well we might as well give him a go!
I knew memories were short up in Louth, think we all know the cause no need for me to say it, but to be that short to have forgotten stuff explained not even a month ago, that's impressive.
Oh go on do remind us again! We do like a laugh at delsusions of granduer (and a dose of hyprocisy while we are at it!!). The memory quotient of all league of ireland fans lasts as long as their most recent title contending team team, business failure, lack of ground facility or the gifting of one! We all have a special talent for selective memory!!
Enjoy the New Year celebrations all. Let it be another black and white dominated year and win across all competitions !!
Chris Forrester to Dundalk rumour doing the rounds again, but I can't see him leaving Aberdeen while under contract to come back to LOI.
Cillian Sheridan on the move - amazed to learn he is still only 29

An option for Rovers!
Is forrester getting much game time with Aberdeen? I never hear of him any more
Came off the bench before Christmas. But things just dont seem to be all that good with him. From the top player at Peterborough, club captain, new 3 year contract after his 1st season, batch of clubs looking to sign him, he gets benched, chairman tweets he wont be sold and then he is sold to Aberdeen where his has been bench warming, 1 start and 3 sub appearances - he should be tearing up the SPL outside the top 3 or 4 teams anyway. Horgan has been looking excellent with Hibs in the bottom half of the table in contrast.
I said Horgan has been 'looking' excellent in contrast (i probably should have said at times) and he is getting time in the team and you at least partially agree so not nonsense at all. My point though was about how poor things have been for Forrester compared to even Horgan which by contrast is an excellent start. As an aside i'd give Horgan a bit more than 3 or 4 months at Hibs before dismissing him. I feel there is more going on with Forrester than adjusting to a new team and league.
Forrester has been living away from his missus and child since he left Pats, don't think his head has been in the right space for a good couple of seasons now because of it despite how well he started at Peterborough. If it keeps going this way you'd imagine Aberdeen will cut their losses sooner or later in which case Dundalk would probably make the most sense for when he comes back...unfortunately. :(
Ali Reghba to be the next beneficiary of coaching masterclasses?
Making his under 21 debut?
Ian Mylod and Craig Donnellan both told they weren't needed two days before Cobh start pre-season.

John Caulfield confirms what has been widely believed for some time - that Jimmy Keohane will not be re-signing for Cork
https://www.irishmirror.ie/sport/soc...jimmy-13861200
The list of departures continues to grow with Keohane joining Damien Delaney Kieran Sadlier, Steven Beattie, Peter Cherrie Johnny Dunleavy and Barry McNamee. Some of those will be missed more than others and I suspect Keohane's versatility and consistency was a big addition to the Cork squad.
Any Cork fans clarify if Danny Kane is in pre-season training? Is he and Aaron Barry expected to be part of the 2019 squad?
Maybe a good indicator, but Cian Bargary who signed his first pro contract last week is also listed on the club website without a squad number
According to the original AFC Fylde announcement his loan was up to 14 January.
He played very well in the one game I saw of him in 2018

Kane most likely won't be with City in 2019.
