Compare the way Andy Reid dealt with his exclusion from the Irish team with the way Trapattoni dealt with it. Night and day. Reid didn't have a bad word to say about him. Then you have Trapattoni constantly making belittling remarks and innuendo (and again like Steven Reid furore) that could impact on Andy's club career.
When you look at the players Trapattoni fell out with; S. Reid, A. Reid, Foley and Kelly, these are probably the most laid back, polite and intelligent members of the squad and you would swear they were Roy Keane foaming at the mouth the way Trapattoni managed to vex them.
Again, with Long, I understand his exasperation and petulance (Stokes too) of being unused substitutes year in year out, not getting so much as a substitute appearance
and then watching Jonathan Walters and Simon Cox practically walk into the first team as soon as they get their passports.
I admire your willingness to defend Trapattoni to the hilt; he done reasonably well before Euro 2012 but he erased a lot of the goodwill by saying "arrivederci" if he didn't get a new contract before Euro 2012 and then half assing it during the WC qualifying campaign.
