inside the rock , just in relation to ur earlier post bout rumours with regards cashel players, what are the rumours? is it players leaving or what? also the bit about rosegreen not going up i reckon they have good chance of going up still if michaels (b) come 2nd rosegreen will be promoted to premier in 3rd. they prob dont even wanna go up to premier though, unless them and galbally vastly improve they will be serious whipping boys in premier division next year
If St.Michaels B finish runnersup the league could consider two options (1) Promote just one team to the Premier or (2) 3rd team goes up. Option (1) reduces the Premier to 8 teams. Is that a good thing? It would reduce the number of games from 16 to 14 and increase the quality of the premier league. Some teams, (most I think), in the 1st division have mixed feelings about promotion and are quite happy to stay put.
reducing the premier to 8 would not be an option most leagues around the country have minimum ten team premier i think , cork and limerick aul have 11 teams in there top division.reducing it to 8 would really increase the standard though thats clear to see, premier division is strong at the moment, town, saints, celtic, peake and cashel have very good teams, rock rovers and cahir on there day are decent too if a little inconsistent so you would be talking about having 7 competive teams in premier it would be up the 8th team then to raise there bar to compete. the league had this problem 2 years ago when town (B) finished 2nd and they promoted team who finished 3rd so cant really change rules this year, without objection.
most teams going up in recent years bar cashel this year go up with a defeatist attitude, they accept relegation even before season starts, i personally think with abit of commitment , training and staying in sat nights the likes of st.nicholas, bansha, rosegreen ,galbally, ballingarry could stay up if they put there mind to it. all these clubs have the players but they cant seem to get there best 11 out consistently over a season and would have major issues with regards training some id say not even training at all, just my opinion lads so no one jump down my throat. anyone else have opinion on it ?
Rock Rovers can't field a team so fixture gets moved to Tuesday. I simply can't understand how a club that enters an A and B team in the league cannot field a team. Maybe Carrick isn't big enough for 2 clubs.
Please get your facts right before posting such nonsense.
Rock Rovers asked Tommy Lewis last Monday if they could switch this game to midweek as there was Confirmation taking place in Carrick over the weekend which several players had an involvement in.Tommy Lewis said there would be no problem changing the fixture once Clonmel Celtic and the referee agreed.
Rock Rovers rang Celtic and the Referee and both couldn't have been more helpful
i wonder what towns attitude towards their league games will be now?? they wont win it but will have a big say in who does. do they show their full hand against saints if they are to play them days later in an fai semi?? do they want to help bitter rivals claim the title and become top dog in clonmel by taking points from peake and saints?? im not suggesting anything and im sure town folk will be on to deny such conspiracies and claim that they are aiming to win the league but it will be an interesting few weeks............
jesus if Town win a Munster and Fai that will be an incredible achievement,i cant imagine any Tipperary team has ever achieved this feat? those players would go down in history, what an incentive,i really hope they do it and league wise it would be nice to see Celtic or Villa make the breakthrough,a lot of excitement ahead which is good for a change
'Bitter rivals' is a bit strong to describe Town's feeling about Celtic. There's been some full blooded derbies in recent seasons between the teams but I also feel there is a mutual respect there. The Celtic boys love Town and hope they win every game between now and the end of the season :love2:
It will be a very interesting few weeks indeed. Any word on the other Munster Junior semi yet? Any Carrick people on here heard anything?
On a serious note, Clonmel Town are a club of the highest integrity and I don't think they would throw any match. Who they would like to see winning the league is a sperate debate but I honestly believe they would do the "right" thing and I think it is unfair to suggest otherwise.
That said Celtic went to Cooke Park at the end of last season and lost 6 nil and still won Tipp Cup, they weren't to concerned about who won league
Can you kindly explain what you mean by your statement regarding Celtic's loss to St Michaels. Unless you can I can only assume you are making a serious sneaky accusation about Celtic throwing a game. Away from soccer forums comments like that could land you in court. And of course it would help if you got your facts right:
1) The game was played on 4th January 2009 and 'not at the end of last season',
2) When the game was played Celtic still had an outside change in the league so to say 'they weren't too concerned about who won the league' is wrong.
3) I was at that game and can assure you an understrength Celtic team gave it their all.
Your snide comment is way out of order and if you had any decency you would withdraw it. If you made a comment like that on the radio show you crave for you would end up in court.
Relax man. All I am saying is that there is a suggestion here that Clonmel Town may play a weakened side to prevent Celtic from winning the league, which I think is wrong. My point is that last season Celtic lost 6 nil to Michael’s. That is a fact.My apologies for suggesting that it was near the end of the season. However They weren’t too bothered about who won the league.
If I have offended anyone, well I am sorry but I also think your court quip is over the top. Stop being so sensitive.
I doubt Clonmel Town are fully ruling themselves out of the title race, especially if Celtic drop points tonight
